I ejected during the Idris p3 mission and was floating in space In the middle of a space battle. I dropped a beacon for a pickup and warned folks it would be a hot war zone. A party of 3 took the challenge and showed up in a Terapin medic. I was encouraged because of how “durable” it is supposed to be. The Terrapin barely made it to me before it was destroyed. It was wiped out crazy fast. It took 1 guy in a C1 spirit who was able to pick me up. It was a Terapin fail

I picked up one, primarily for bunker missions, and having a 1 scu box makes a great day today storage option. Plus it's smaller size makes landing close much easier. I agree that the interior needs a redesign to make it a better / more useful ship. When the Apollo drops, then I'll need to reevaluate it's spot in my fleet.

This ship, like many others, has a great cool factor but if you're running the numbers there are better options. Maybe that will change over time as armor gets figured out.

I am disappointed in the Medical Terrapin. I expected more for the price. The only thing that has going for it is durability. The Cutlass Red beats it in everything else. Firepower, cargo, two beds. The only thing the Terrapin did was make me give a second look to the Apollo. Which is also supposed to be armored, has many more facilities, and isn't that much more expensive. I already have a CCU chain for the Apollo when it comes out. 😆

RIGHT NOW, it doesn't matter what tier level the bed is. Every medbed is a respawn point. If you can get into the ship, you backspace and are there completely healed, and just re-equip your armor and go. When they remove that feature, a T2 medbed will have a bit more value.

The Terrapin is one of my favorite ship designs, it's just so cute. I think most medical ships should have at least a single passenger seat that's not the bed, if not two, but especially this one needs that. Being able to rescue a small crew of 2-3 people whose ship was disabled or destroyed seems like exactly the situation for such a small but durable ship as the Terrapin Medic, but without passenger seating that's just not very realistic (even though one of the promo shots of the ship literally shows 3 people boarding, only one of whom appears injured enough to require aid). Even just an extra crew slot would help, whether it's a "doctor's chair" type of station or a small turret to really press the idea of this being a scrappy little rescue ship. That said, I still love the way this ship looks and I'll absolutely be picking it up in-game as soon as that's an option. I haven't tried the medical gameplay loop yet but when I do, this is my top choice to do it in.

It's very odd to me that it isn't a tier1 med bed, given that's the entire role of the (expensive) ship. I really like that red and cyan color scheme though.

I love the Terrapin. It's easily one of my favorite ships. I wish they would have given it a T1 med bed a suit locker, gun rack and real dedicated drop seat or two but my love for the great space turtle made me ignore its outrageous price and its lack luster capabilities.

I like my medical turtle, I just wish it had at least a single scu of storage, with the medbed for patching up and spawns it's great for bunker runs, as long as your friends can get there on their own, but no scu containers for loot or spare gear... I did get a kill with it during the stanton missions, forgot to turn off the cruise control, who'd have guessed a heavily armored ship at speed would take the guy out, lol

This is a great variant of a great ship. Pricey for a single bed though. Needs a turret on top for suppressing enemies while exfil troops board.

I have one of these ships but the only reason I stopped here is that I have a $5 CCU to the Railen. I might turn it into a Railen anyways just to get the Taurus loaner. The most enjoyable part of this game these days is fleet management, heh.

As someone who owns an Apollo Medivac and uses a Cutlass Red as an Daily driver, would you recommend me upgrading the cutty? I really struggle with this decision because I love the Murtle...

Depends on your goals and the rest of your fleet. I own a Medivac and a Terrapin as well but I'm heavily invested in Medical as a gameplay loop I'm interested in. So I want the less common medical ships. I would say an Apollo Triage with a different config would make more sense considering it's modular. The Terrapin Medic is specifically for hot zone pick up and drop off and Hot zone medical treatment. The secondary purpose is an amazing bunker ship. If you are interested in those specific things then this would be a good pick up but otherwise a triage is better.

To me, it really was only a question of how the price would turn out on this one, T2 bed surprise or no. When it turned out as expected, it immediately ended to the list of ingame purchases

Honestly surprised by this review. I was sure you are all for it, as you like the terrapin normal. I don't blame you personally. That said, I do think it will have some use. Once they add in world effects. Lightning, acid, rain and other things that destroy ships on the planet. Maybe even radiation

The Medipin is great until you look at the price. The existence of the Apollo makes the Medipin just the worst. The only reason I have one is because I used it for my CCU chain.

I would give it a solid 8, almost to a 9. While there is an argument for a lesser score because of the price, I think the gameplay fun makes up for it. It is my dedicated bunker-runner. But "friendly" and "hostile". No, it can't tank as many shots when it needs to take out turrets as other choices like the Connie or Corsair. And with just 2 S2's, it's going to take a bit to take out each turret. You aren't going to "speed run" hostile turrets in this. However, because of its small size and really narrow front aspect, it lends itself extremely well to peek-n-shoot. Which is a really fun game-loop if you give it a try. As to "only" being a Tier-2. I'm good with that. Especially with the way respawning is currently. Now, what I would change: I would make the med-bed capable of doing bed-logging. Make it true to real-life. There were many a night in the field when I was driving the M1010 ambulance that we slept on those for the few hours downtime we got. The biggest change I would make though would be to move the weapons to the mid or top. Having them on the bottom a) limits their usefulness when low to the ground like the Terrapin should be, and b) makes them more likely to be torn off by the same ground when moving at high speeds. I would shift those to the "shoulders".

They could have stuck the guns where the radar dome was and then the pilot could enter it as remote turret mode to defend the ship when grounded. Assuming you actually have a second crew member doctor on board to take care of patients. But then again, this version of a ambulance ship probably isn't supposed to be sitting on the ground for terribly long.

@@Dracounguis I like that idea. But I would modify that. Shift the two weapons the the "shoulders" like I said. Then the "turret" would be a pair of S1 or S2 PDCs that are completely autonomous. The idea isn't to make this an attack ship, but just one that most will skip to find an easier target, especially when on the ground where flares and chaff are pretty useless.

It is a 4/10 for me, Why ? -2 for the prohibitive price compared to the cheaper Cutlass Red and the more efficient Apollo -2 for no bed to disconnect safely -2 for lack of possibility to enter at least one pulse
