People always ask, "plot or character?" I'd really rather not choose at all, I need the plot to keep my interest in the story, and I need character development and drive to keep me caring about the story
@ReadingWithMeg4 ай бұрын
I get it. If the vibes are right with a character I don’t need plot but if it’s just a boring character I need SOMETHING then

Honest question, cause I used to read ALOT, But life happens and I don't really have time to " read" anymore...but I listen to alot of audio books. Are audio books stil considered reading, at least in book community? I'm new here 😂 I feel guilty about saying I read a book, when I didn't, I listened lol
@Octothena4 ай бұрын
I know some people think audiobooks don't count, but studies show we absorb the information the same way as reading. Audiobooks absolutely count and make it possible for people with issues like ADHD to "read" more!
@MinaKirby4 ай бұрын
It counts! But sadly a lot of Extreme Horror isn't available on audiobook, and IMO the vocal performer has to give a really emotional performance to do it justice. I just listened to Blender Babies by Jon Athan (read by Beau Thomas) and that's the kind of performance I'm looking for! He really gives it his all and makes you FEEL in the intense scenes.
@ReadingWithMeg4 ай бұрын
Yes it does! Don’t listen to people who say it’s not reading. I personally do not retain information well via audio because of my ADHD but other people absorb it better. If audio is what you’re more comfortable with and it helps you read more then go for it!

"Even though this is gorge... this book is not." LMFAO too funny. And I immediately watched your rant video after I finished Middle Of The Night last month and I wanted to throw it at my wall so many times it was the worst book I ever read! But Never Lie by Frieda Mcfadden was my fave book I read in June I think that one might be my top fave from her so far. I also loved Betting On You by Lynn Painter cuz still love a good YA romance lol.

I agree with you on horror movie and Paul Tremblay in general...for some odd reason I want to like him....but I've read 4 of his and only liked head full of ghosts....not gonna bother trying anymore of his books....no matter how tempted I may be lol....horror movie did me in

The way Normal People is talked about as one of the most romantic stories in the world and when you read it it’s just two unlikable, boring people who like each other for some reason but can’t communicate even if their lives depended on it and are stuck in a shitty cycle of pulling apart and coming back to each other. So exhausting for a short book 😂
@ReadingWithMeg4 ай бұрын
THISSSSSSS lol I don’t understand the hype. It was insufferable.

@@ReadingWithMeg I think people find it "realistic" but that says a lot about a lack of personal and emotional growth if you think miscommunication to that level is relatable, realistic, or romantic. They never truly communicated, that's the core of the issue, and people are like "omg romance" no girl pls get up. They don't even end up together, there's no growth for either of them, so it was all for NOTHING lmao. Insufferable, indeed.

@@michellecgb yes exactly! There was absolutely zero depth to these characters and nothing even happened between them and then the book was over. Nothing worth getting emotional over lol

Exalted sounds so good! I am going to check it out. A couple of my favorites in June were Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer (fantasy horror) and The Last One by Will Dean (Thriler Horror). I didn't care for Middle of the Night either. I gave it 2 stars and that was being generous.

I have that Will Dean book! I heard a lot of good things about it. Ugh yeah I don’t think I can do Riley Sager anymore.

I just finished Ripe last night . . . Man, that was bleak. That girl needed a win she just didn't get. It also reminded me of my mindset when I quit one of my first real jobs. I wasn't seeing blackholes or anything, but the underlying frustration and anger was there.

...did you know Palahniuk lost all his money to a "scam-manager"? millions. his interview on Rogan is very intriguing regarding living the artist/author´s fancy self-indulged cliche life-style for a lack of interest for what´s really going on around you in reality, in your real life.
