Years ago, I had a Mercury Capri that I bought used from a Ford/Mercury dealer. The timing belt broke in a parking lot less than 6 months after I bought it, and I had to tow it to the dealer. In order to replace the belt, they said that the engine would have to be lifted out and the head gasket replaced, and they would replace the water pump while everything was apart. This is back in the early to mid 80‘s, and even back then, the cost would be close to $2000. None of this was covered by the dealer. Since it was used, I junked it rather than paying the outrageous cost of repairs.

ICE all the way. I thought going hybrid might be a good way to go, but the batteries life is over in 9 to 12 years. The cost of a Toyota Prius battery alone is well over $6,000 in USA money. In Canada with the exchange rate and the fact we always have to pay more for the same thing compared to the USA. So you’re looking at in Canuck bucks at least $10,000. Are you sure your reduced fuel consumption cost covers that much difference in 10 years? Good luck selling it when it needs a new battery.

I have a 2023 Lightning Lariat Edition, and it's the best purchase I've ever made. Basically zero maintenance and I charge at home. The cost to charge at home is also basically not very visible. Maybe $20 or $30 extra per month, max.

Scotty, I just got a used 2013 Lexus RX 350 F sport with 167k miles, and I believe the transmission is slipping and pretty jerky. Do you think I should get a new transmission for it. The rest of the car was super well maintained but I believe the previous owner got tricked into the "lifetime" fluid theory.

I have a 2020 ram limited 4wd 395 hp he I with 39000 miles. The truck kind of shutters from the rear when making turns and under acceleration. It is more obvious during right turns and normal acceleration for several months no. I have had no modifications, new brakes or repairs. Any ideas Scotty?

The Honda free oil change isn’t offered through the dealer - it’s Hondas Sentinal program. Honda will not pay the oil change unless it’s at 15% oil life. Lighten up Scottie! Dealers these days are much more honest with internet reviews etc.

It's common knowledge that car dealers change the oil by their standards, usually 7.5k miles or 10k . They don't just let folks come in and get a free oil change when they want to . Learn to change our own and you know it's done right
