It's true what Scotty says about junkyards. I grew up in a family garage business. When it came up that a customer wanted a used engine or transmission, we would call around to all the local junkyards, for prices and mileage. One of the junkyards always had them with "about 60,000 miles", and never in a car, always on the floor or a shelf. It was a running joke in the shop, when we had to call there. We would say, "I wonder if they have an engine with 60,000 miles on it?"

I don't know of the 3.8 L Taurus engine, but I have my dad's 1996 Ford Taurus with the 3.0 L Vulcan engine, 322,000 km on it. That engine runs so smooth still. So we went on and paid some dough to fix a bunch of leaky seals on it. I think it can make it to 500,000 km. Transmission is indeed weak though - I drive the old teapot gently.

I had an older Explorer and the wipers and washer quit working. It turned out that the wipers were controlled by a connection to the washer fluid canister, which was integrated with the wiper motor and washer circuit. When it went out, I had to purchase a new one. I didn't want to go the used route, because I couldn't be sure if it worked or how long it would last. I'm not sure if they still use that system on the newer models, but it was an easy and not too expensive fix.

Hey Scotty true story. I live in oregon. I just renewed my tags last week for 2 years on my license plates. For the first time in the mail they did not say what the price was. When I went to the DMV I found out they now have fluctuating prices. True story they go by how many miles per gallon your car gets now. So if your car gets more miles to the gallon they charge you more for your tags because you're not buying the gas tax. People who get higher miles per gallon Don't buy as much gas and pay as much gas tax. So it seems they're moving to electric cars are going to have to pay by the mile now in Oregon as soon as they can get it passed. So they talk millions of people into buying Electric cars so they can now charge them more

It's so sad that there are fewer experienced mechanics now,as you stated,Mr.Kilmer, and I've been dreading that for a long time.

Scotty do a video about the new Toyota hilux that is selling for $11k. The fat electrician did a great video on it called the chicken conspiracy robbing Americans of the hilux.

Skoda are nice looking cars. Not overly popular here in Aus but you do see some getting around

I'd like to get a van, but not a full sized one. I'd prefer it was rear wheel drive. I like the ASTRO van. But, hard to find one in good shape. Not sure if there is another rear wheel drive minivan.
