The catalyst for Spurs coming back from the dead was firstly The Jedi and then Kulu. Both showed they have the eye of the tiger and a will to win. Despite AnGes crap system of play. Theses 2 boys step up. Plenty of respect to Brennan he showed his courage with that goal after the abuse.

I'm a Spurs fan for nearly 50 years and I don't know any other set of fans who love beating themselves up after a bad performance. Other fans would rejoice at playing poorly and getting through, or being in a process and just back the team. And manager. It certainly seems that way sometimes, although the base is very diverse and the CFC (CartilageFreeCaptain - you know who) website generally presents a far more pondered approach. What I can't stand are the 'fans' with a sense of entitlement who demand the club satisfy their every wish and throw a hissy fit if they don't get it. We deplore that at other clubs, yet some of our own are equal or worse. A supporter's job is to SUPPORT the players, to bring out the best in them. That doesn't mean not being allowed to criticise, but the manner and timing of any criticism is important. Johnson took his goal very well last night and it will hopefully boost his confidence, but his celebration was muted and he took down his social media site because of the awful things on there. That sort of abuse is just not acceptable!

your aspirations may be no higher than 13th place but this will not go down well with levy - he's sacked managers coming in 4th and 5th and on the brink of a league cup success ange can only dream of. Yes, it was so-called 'fans' who drove each of those (and Nuno, who is showing his quality at NF) managers out. In some cases they may be the same people who ripped the Feyenoord stadium apart (our most shameful moment as a club) - certainly the same mentality! DL gets the blame, but he was only responding to the clamour by 'fans' and tried to do the best thing in each case. JM started with half the fanbase against him and was extremely unlucky (even more so the club itself) to be clobbered by the pandemic, just as our new stadium was starting to generate revenue and JM was getting the team to play positive attacking football.

@@roberto_camp Yeah I just don't agree with that all. Porro has improved a lot defensively since last season, and he's the best attacking fullback in the league bar maybe TAA. He didn't look great defensively against Arsenal, but that doesn't turn me off from the fact that he is an elite fullback. Just because he's good offensively doesn't mean he'll be a good winger. Just like how TAA being a good passer doesn't mean he'd make a good midfielder. Much to Southgate's dismay 😅

Alasdair, you are right we were dire for 85 minutes. for me the crucial point is not who played well and who didn't, we were bad as a team, but my point is we did not play Ange-ball. We were not fearless and aggressively risk-taking. I was watching on ESPN in spanish and after a while the commentator was counting out loud how many consecutive forward passes were being made, he was making the point that we were making two backward or sideways passes for every forward one. That is not Ange-ball. Ange-ball is you trust your talent against the opposition you take risks and trust your defenders to get you out of the inevitable trouble that this aggressive style will bring. We have played well and been unlucky up to last night, stick with it, get back to Ange-ball and trust ourselves: we can win the Europa league. Great way for Djed and Brennan to answer their critics.

Ange tactic to play the ball forward at speed. Hit the wingers who then cross or play a through ball down the middle. The players don't do this. Wow that was 😅😅😅😅 close, think we can’t compare, the guys at the back playing together for the first time, we should be beating Coventry, but it’s never that easy especially on the back of the weekends result, think it was good just to get a win

I think we'd see some improvement if the players started passing the ball forwards rather than sideways. My lands that was horrible.

I'm really curious what people expect Ange to do. Why did the game look like a training session? Because they've only trained together. When will these players learn to play together if he doesnt put them in? Are we supposed to play Son and Udogie and Kulu and Maddison for every tournament, every week? Now... this is not to defend the performance of some folks, like Timo :(

But that’s the trick of rotating….all teams must rotate to play in multiple competitions. And to do that optimally, one must pick the weakest team you can get away with. Unfortunately, a heavily rotated team wasn’t enough and he needed to put in some starters to win.

It was nice to see Ben Davies get the Captains armband last night and then he probably saved the game when Foster wiped out Dragusin. That's not the first time he's made a save like that, he did it a couple of years ago against Leeds when Lloris went walkies, so many fans complaining about Davies still being at the club but he still saved the day. Djed Spence making Ange look a bit silly when you compare his performance to Foster's, I know Foster hasn't played for over a year but on the performances which one deserves to be in the Europa League squad. As for fans abusing Johnson it's a shame the police can't go after them, you say something the government doesn't like and you're thrown in jail, pity the police can't have that kind of dedication to protecting individuals who've done nothing but have an off day which is nothing compared to what the government have done to people. Look after yourself and have a great day.

Thanks for the video, Alasdair. Reliving the suffering could not have been easy. Complete dross for most of the game but saved by a couple of pieces of magic from Brennan Johnson and Jed (not wanted in Europe) Spence. BTW, on what planet do Spurs need four goalkeepers in the Europa League squad and can dispense with Spence? Just like in the NLD there were far too many sidewards passes and almost no forward press. When did dribbling past opponents become illegal? How else can you explain what has happened to so many Spurs players recently. I cannot remember a game when Son has had so little impact as a sub and it was noticeable that in your video you only made one very brief mention of him. There seems to be a general lack of confidence in the squad and surely Ange and his team need to tackle this as soon as possible.

Hi Ali great video as always, with regards fielding weaker teams. For me personally except against Arsenal or Chelsea, do it in the league. League position (unless it’s 1st) (and above 18th) means absolutely nothing to me. Go all out in the cups we are in. The games about glory not Levy’s imaginary 4th place trophy.

@boipink It shows how long they've been watching Spurs. For example if a 10 year old says this is his worst game it will be trumped by someone who is 67. It means that a 67yr old has seen loads more shit games and being a Spurs fan there are a lot of shit games

The Europa format is low risk in this new format , you could lose 4 win 4 and still probably not get knocked out , possibly even lose 5 . So can risk more changes .

To clarify , if every team drew with their equal pot rated team and beat everyone lower ranked you end up with 9 teams on 20, 9 on 14 , 9 on 8 and 9 on 2 . OK not likley , but the point is there are only so many points either way from that scenario . There will be an awful lot on same points at the end so if you are going to lose , lose 6-5 .

Wouldn't it be better to rest players by making a few changes for each game, including league games? It must be hard for the players coming in and basically playing in a new team with so many changes. It's never going to flow.

"Ineffective" was the word that kept reverberating through my head for almost the entire match. Honestly, Werner, Solanke, Johnson, and even Sarr, were all ineffective at best, and Bentancur wasn't much better. Destiny repeatedly made runs in behind only to be completely ignored by Werner, Sarr, et al. Bergvall was the best Spurs player on the pitch in the first half but he was ploughing a lone furrow in the playmaker role, and Forster looked exactly like someone who hasn't played in a year. Odobert going off was a real shame as I was looking forward to seeing more of him but now he might be out for months. Gray was solid, as was the much-maligned Ben Davies, and Dragusin did his best in the face of no protection whatsoever from the midfield. Sadly, I have to report that Sonny, long my favourite player, replaced Solanke and rapidly became even more of a spectator than Big Dom had been. Tottenham only started playing when Deki came on. The two goals in quick succession that won the match put lipstick on a pig that for 87 minutes was unwatchable.

There is worrying trend that some of the Spurs faithful are starting to parrot the jibes directed at Ange from rival fans and hostile journos obsessing about his lack of Premier League experience. We have to back him until the end of next season and then make a properly measured assessment. Until then all of the "out of his depth" comments just reveal how brittle and twitchy lots of THFC supporters have become. This is no doubt as a result of the decades long lack of success and the drought of silverware. Have faith, and give this young team your support!

Im not so worried about last nite - weve had plenty of smash n grabs by inferior sides done on us over the years so its nice to see us do it for a change. But what i am worried about - and what we all should be worried about - is a alarming dip in form which has seen us collect just 17 points from the last 15 games since march (a situation not helped by a poor transfer window). We are in a rut and im afraid im not sure Ange knows how to get us out of it?
