Here in Sun Valley, those of us that live here year round call these in between seasons “Slack” and we absolutely need it. A time when the pace slows down, you can find parking and the restaurants have people you know in them. Time to take a deep breath and appreciate where you live.

Absolutely stunning roads and views. I am another viewer who just loves your tour videos, as I've said before, you make us feel as if we are there with you. You are making the Goldwing look like the perfect bike for this type of tour, especially two up, and it's taking those hairpins in it's stride, with you more than capable of steering it. I've been through the Frejus tunnel many times when I drove in Europe for a living, and like you, the first time the instructions came through the radio I was confused, I was looking for a police bike or tunnel employee ready to shout at me haha.

One observation I would make Andy about the tight, uphill right hand corners is that I always force the gearbox down into second, using the ‘minus’ paddle button before the tightest part of the corner so that if you did roll off fractionally, for any reason, you already have the revs up if you need power. This has the added benefit of standing the bike up faster, adding to both directional control and confidence.
@TheMissendenFlyer

Yes good idea, I have sometimes done that or popped her in sport mode that tends to hang on to lower gears for longer....

Hi Andy. Another great video showing just how lovely this area is. It's reminding me of all the brilliant rides we have done over the many years of biking and just how little things change ! I had to do a job in Mageve one Christmas. Try driving up there in the snow! However, the beauty of the place once I got there made it worth while. I was there 2 nights waiting for spares. Driving down again was equally as fun. I hasten to add,, I was in a car. They put up a big Christmas tree with lights in the small square near the church. Great video. Thanks.

Hey TMF! Ah, my playground next door! It’s true, a GoldWing isn’t a hairpin razor blade but any bike around there is a wonderful experience. I’ve taken a Tracer 700, Africa Twin, Bandit 650 and my trusty Pan European through there many times. Gorgeous. Only cruisers worry about mountain roads. Heading East on the highway to Limoges, us on Street Triples, a Fazer 600 & Steve ( sadly, cancer killed him ) on a Kawasaki 2000 cruiser, flip helmet up smoking a fat cigar at 140 kph. Laughing. On the mountain passes in the Massif Central leaving a shower of sparks. He did carry in the panniers, baguettes, ham, cheese, mustard & branston pickle. The big K was not at home in the mountains.

Wow, some great views, and some tight hairpins, I'm loving the touring videos, as I don't think I'll ever be into Europe on my bike, so keep up the good work, it's much appreciated what you and Carol put into the video. 👍

Another interesting and entertaining tour video, you probably picked the right time of year to tour as the weather was still warm and dry enough to ensure you didn't have be permanently layered up with thermals and waterproof's etc and best of all the holiday traffic had all disappeared which makes the rides far more enjoyable.The scenery and roads continue to be awesome although the alpine villages you passed through were not quite as picturesque as those you rode through earlier in the trip, Megeve looks nice and worth a visit although with two salads costing Euro 75 I might have to take my own sandwiches 😀 looking forward to the next Saturday's episode of "Winging it"

Epic trip. Awesome coverage today. Done this road and many passes in CH, switchbacks are hard when 2 up and panniers, but still worth it. I have to trail brake whilst accelerating uphill, sporty to keep it upright. Stelvio was a killer!!

@@TheMissendenFlyer just fo info, and for others, there are 3 route's up. Easy, moderate and hard. I did the hard then moderate. It was hard but great! Also keep in mind, you cannot open up the corners, or maintain flow, as there are many motorhomes and cyclists, can't get the rhythm. This also applies to some Swiss passes. Enjoy, keep up the great vlogs!

All good Andy. Love the DCT. Spectacular views. Hey, rich people have to spend their money somewhere. Glad it's theirs. Great weather all considered. After the big ride how about a summary of a few of the expenses like tunnels and highway tolls. Next time. From east Kentucky USA. No tolls here, just trolls.

Yes they were much worse than the video made them look and I had to have my big boy pants on!!! Having said that, the 'WIng handled them with aplomb and they were nowhere near as tricky as I thought they might be on such a heavily laden heavy bike with a frozen shoulder!

Hi Andy, You’re now in the region, west and southwest of Chamonix, where I was on vacation in summer several times. Great region but there’s a reason why everything is so green; it often rains I mean. I rode, with my car, part of the Tour de France route including Col de la Madeleine. Hairpins are easy…with a car but you don’t want to have to brake on a bike in the steep part of a right turn that goes up steep. The asphalt is then too far away for your feet. Down is not really a problem. I always try to avoid large main roads when touring. The somewhat smaller roads are much more interesting to ride and usually have better views.

Hi Andy, I enjoy your patter and "down to earth" approach to presenting information. With my wife on the back, we are always interested in new routes and destinations. As a suggestion, to make the destination more appealing give the viewer a bit more background on why you chose the destination. A few more facts about the place, or a walkabout to the "must see" attractions would not go amiss. Just a thought, not a criticism. Keep up the good work! Cheers.

Catching up out of sequence but will definitely be jumping back to the previous ones too. Interesting about the min distance and speed stuff in the tunnel, hadn't really thought about potential rules like that so now filed in the back of my mind. Good Day Mr. & Mrs. Flyer, I'm really enjoying your tour and makes me question why I emigrated to the U.S. Andy, I noticed you shifting around on the bike seat and reminded me of when I had the OEM seat on my 2023 GL1800 DCT Tour. I finally went the Russell Day Long route and after 3000 miles have not found a limit on how long I can stay in the seat. When are you going to install the Innovv - Third Eye Blind Spot Detection system on the Goldwing. Innovv also worked with BMW and they have a great option for the GS. Thanks again for bringing us along on the "Winging it" tour.

Actually I find the standard seat very comfy - in fact the best seat on any bike I've ever ridden!! I like blind spot detection but not if it means trailing cables and cameras all over the bike which I assume the Innov does?
