I flip-flop between them. People nowadays know them from the King of Fighters because we've had twelve games and at least one movie since the last time Fatal Fury had a game (not counting re-releases). Even Smash counted him as KoF when he was added which wasn't going to help anything.

The final fury characters added is actually pretty cool addition if u ask me canon or non-canon I always felt Street Fighters and SNK In general fit hand and glove if we go from a 90s perspective the animations were similar the characters stories were never too deep to not be added to another lore of fighting and a Ken vs Terry match is a dreamer so I can live with it I’d like to see more plus Geese did good in Tekken so hey why not ? Street fighter isn’t too far off

Thing is, Takashi Nishiyama was the creator of both series. His inability to make Street Fighter 1 focus on story due to technical limitations was brought over into his vision for Fatal Fury. Although he didn’t work on SFII and didn’t take as big a role for later games, SF and FF are like half siblings in a sense almost.

People think that having a guest be canon in another franchise means that guest’s entire franchise canon is part of the canon of where they’re appearing, and it simply isn’t true. Not only would it be a legal & logistical nightmare that creates more problems than solutions, it’s hard enough keeping continuity & canon on track as it is! At most, the history of the character informs their personality & motivation in the story, but it isn’t consequential to their history & future outside the game.

Yeah I was literally thinking the original approach (i.e: The guest characters from a company that made the game should only come from other games that the same company made before. As in, if this was Street Fighter, and Capcom made that; Capcom has the right to use guest characters from other mainline games only Capcom has made; which are technically Darkstalkers, Final Fight, Rival Schools, etc. which are mainline games made by Capcom.) was better. Instead Capcom decided to call off-brand characters (like SNK, Namco, etc. characters) as “guest characters” and by using Katsuhiro’s hacked approach, bound them onto Street Fighter, a complete mainline game from Capcom only. This in turn, is starting to destroy the canonicity of the said mainline game; turning Street Fighter 6 into a crossover like Tekken 7. In short, Street Fighter 6 is making those SNK characters as “timeline canon”, thereby breaking its own canonicity to its own timeline. If this wasn’t canon lore, I’d enjoy this, no questions asked. Sadly this is canon lore; so I’m very much disappointed at Capcom because of it. They made the same mistake Namco made, and it may very well turn all of this into “real life MUGEN”.

Do you think *Rock Howard* should be the DLC character in Street Fighter 6 instead of Terry Bogard? It makes more sense because 1, Marking wise and getting hype for Fatal Fury City of the Wolves in 2025 and 2, Street Fighter 6 And Fatal Fury-Wolves are latest both game franchises’ timeline and it is about the Next Generation Fighting Games. It is over a year I discovered your channel thanks to your Next Gen fighting game video. Also would Rock still be 19 in Street fighter 6 to be same age group with Luke and the other new cast or Rock would be older since Rock is born in 1989. I personally think Terry got too much exposure. The Man is in Smash Bros. Also you mentioning Highlander made me a bit mad. Because Mortal Kombat 1 didn’t get any from Deadly Class to be DLC. Why Deadly Class doesn’t get the same love as Invincible and The Boys? Why?

Something that doesnt get acknowledged enough is that the person that created Street Fighter also created Fatal Fury. So Terry and Mai are basically Step-Siblings to Ryu and Ken. So even if they come from a different series, they are still related. Now personally, I hope this is a one time thing. I really dont want Capcom making this a habit.

It’s a game changer but it’s also to early in my opinion. The fact that it’s still only 4 characters a year and they take 50% of the pack and Elena a character that’s not high on the voting pole makes it worse. It’s almost a disrespect to fans who are still looking for the most top voted character like Dudley, C.Viper, Makoto, Cody and Sagat. It’s almost as if Capcom isn’t listening to fans and are doing what they want. I’m not against these characters Bison is my main so I’m happy but I look at this and think this is to early and we need more fan favorites back first. That’s just my opinion.

They're the ones who really decide what's Canon and what's not. As for the original crossovers, I considered them to be Canon from the beginning so now my theory has been proven (or made) to be right.
