At this rate a lost of connectivity really should just find another parking space since it already can do autopark. pull over side out way for X seconds then eventually find another safe available parking space automagically

100% agree. Honestly, anything would be better than how it handles it right now. But I wonder if it is a liability thing that the car is then making decisions that the human did not have control of? Idk, I hope they figure it out soon though because it has caused me to stop using summon for the time being.

So it is disappointing that we can’t actually get the car to pull into a parking spot rather than having to always back into a parking spot. It’s also disappointing that we’re unable to send it to a parking spot or have it find a parking spot on its own, without having to hold down that stupid button, as that takes away from the whole experience. The other thing is, when it gets to its point of pick up destination, like you demonstrated in your first example showing the car picking you up, it shouldn’t stop without putting on the four-way flashing lights, because imagine someone following behind the car, and it suddenly stops for no reason, the person following the car, is all of a sudden confronted with this car stopping for no apparent reason, which is not only confusing but dangerous. So anytime the car stops, and it is not going to proceed, it should default immediately to turning on the four-way flashing lights, so that the driver following the car knows that it’s not gonna proceed and they can look to going around the car, which is a much better situation than just stopping, leaving the other driver confused about what the heck is going on here. It should also be noted, that the car will not cross over to pick you up if you’re on the opposite side of the street, so you need to be on the appropriate side of the street otherwise the car will just simply stop, and again, out of an abundance of caution, the car should always put the four way flashing lights on to avoid someone who may be distracted, colliding with the stopped vehicle. Cheers 🥂

I usually prefer to back in, but I get the appeal of pulling in straight at grocery stores where you may need to load the trunk. I'm sure it's coming one day!

🚗 that's what I was thinking the signal between your phone or the signal on your car I was going to suggest doing a dry run seeing what your signal looks like on both your phone individually and your car individually without running some and you being in the car to see what the signal looked like. 🚗

I went back yesterday while the store was closed and did some testing. I watched the phone switch between 5g and 4g during the summon and everything was okay. May go back today with people there and do as your comment says!

So what is causing these signal losses? Is it the car? Could it be fixed with a software update? Maybe some sort of antenna to boost the signal?
@EastCoastTesla11 күн бұрын
Good questions. I am 99% certain it wasn't my phone. So that either leaves the car, or bad cell towers in the area. Like I said in the video, it seems to be better now and I will do a redemption run at some point to see if it's fixed!

@EastCoastTesla Thank you for your courage to keep trying 🙂. I share your anxiety when trying summon in busy lots like that one. I've only had signal loss once but I kept my thumb on the button and it reconnected and came to me to complete the summon. I take these potential limitations into account and park the car in the more empty part of the lot to the right of a stores entrance. That way the car will come down a relatively empty row and does not have to cut through the heavy foot traffic in front of the store. I just walk and wait a few feet to the right of the main entrance when I leave the store and the car usually has more room to pull up to me without blocking anyone. I like your videos. Keep up the good work

Is it possible that your phone was trying to connect to a WiFi hotspot at the Costco as you got closer, making the phone signal wafer between LTE and WiFi for just long enough to break the connection to the car?? Just wondering if you’ve connected to WiFi at Costco before, and the phone jumps back on as soon as it detects the familiar WiFi network??
@EastCoastTesla3 күн бұрын
@@ThisIsTeslaTrippin Good question, I don't believe I have connected to Costco WIFI before, but it's possible. Or maybe another store nearby that I have. I will have to disable WIFI when I go back for my redemption run video!

I wonder if it thinks it is a main or busy road where it would abort since it can’t drive on main or busy roads? I typically use it when dropping off Amazon returns at Kohl’s and have never had any issues with aborting or losing connection. I’m not sure if there is a different message when it aborts when close to a main road. I just know I haven’t been happy with FSD v12.5.4.1. I just received the .2 update today by manually checking for an update. Will have test it out soon.
@EastCoastTesla10 күн бұрын
I just put out a video on .2, it does not seem better for me. And as far as the public or busy roads, it actually displays a message that says which reason it’s aborting. This one was pure lost connection, unsure why though. Hope 12.5.4.2 is better for you though!!

@ I just tested the the v12.5.4.2 and you are right it is not much better. Hopefully we could get the v.12.5.6.2 soon. The last two updates are like a few steps backwards. I’ll check out your video to see if we have similar encounters on .2

@ Also earlier today. I used ASS at Kohl’s. It pulled out of the spot and when it was supposed to make a left with signal light on, it just sat there so I had to go rescue it. Similar to your Costco testing on .1 but mine does not have any error message that it aborted or lost connection. The turn signal remained on and just sat there. There was a car behind it so I didn’t want to fiddle with disabling and enabling it again. Stressful when there are cars behind it. Ugh! Will try again when it is not on the busy weekend. lol

@@EastCoastTesla I've noticed that around my Costco using summon on 5g more often causes disconnect, so I force my phone on LTE in that area and it works better. My theory is since I live in a college town and that Costco is near the campus, the towers in the area are congested. Specifically the 5g connection since that's what mostly everyone is now using, and since the stadium is so close good luck getting a decent enough connection during a football game.

It did pretty great on everything except the Costco test, however, it only takes one major screw up to have a big problem, so I get that!
