Are you one of the many eagerly awaiting the release of the Tesla Cybertruck? Before you hit the snowy roads with this futuristic electric pickup, there are crucial winter considerations you need to know. In this video, we delve into the unexpected challenges that the Cybertruck faces in cold conditions, from its unique heating system to charging quirks and off-road capabilities.
Discover the surprising truth about the Cybertruck's starting price and how it compares to its promised base model cost. Elon Musk's decision to release the car despite a pricing shift raised eyebrows, but the Cybertruck's innovative features make it a groundbreaking addition to the electric vehicle market.
Learn about the proprietary Tesla heat pump system designed to combat the cold's impact on battery efficiency. With an "octovalve" connecting various heat exchange loops, this system proves to be a game-changer, providing 4-6 times more efficiency than its counterparts. We explore how this technology sets the Cybertruck apart from competitors like the Ford F-150 Lightning.
Charging your Cybertruck in winter comes with its own set of challenges. Uncover the potential slowdowns in charging speeds, especially in extreme weather, and why having a home charger might be the best solution. Get tips on maximizing your range and reducing range anxiety while on the road, including the strategic use of heated seats and steering wheel.
Weight becomes a significant factor in winter driving, and the Cybertruck's 3.3-tonne mass raises concerns. Discover how this heavyweight impacts acceleration, braking, and overall safety on slippery roads. We discuss the importance of winter tires and how they can mitigate handling deficiencies.
Delve into the Cybertruck's off-road capabilities-or lack thereof. Despite Tesla's history of successful off-road performance with models like the Model Y and Model X, the Cybertruck faces unique challenges, raising questions about firmware and Tesla's first foray into a dedicated off-road pickup.
If you've already invested in a Cybertruck or are considering it, this video is a must-watch for essential winter driving tips. Slow down, drive carefully, and understand the limitations of your Cybertruck in snowy conditions. And, as we'll discuss, going off-road might not be the best idea just yet.
Join us as we unravel the mysteries of the Tesla Cybertruck in winter, providing you with insights to ensure a safe and enjoyable driving experience in cold climates. Don't miss out on the critical information you need before taking your Cybertruck out into the winter wonderland!

The commentator is trying very subtle to push you away from any Tesla car. This is Tesla’s enemies in disguise.

It's overpriced and ugly. I wish I could afford an electric SUV or truck but it wouldn't be a Tesla.

A gas powered car can idle for about 20-50 hours in the cold before running out of fuel. Teslas use about 1kw to heat everything so about 100 hours before they run out of fuel.

But wouldn't the 1kW apply to a car that's moving, when there is waste heat from the battery, motors (I know they're efficient but still produce around 10% waste heat) and motor controllers? The heat pump works well when it has those heat sources to draw from and pump into heat for the cabin, but in a stationary car, the only source of heat is the outside air and a tiny amount of heat from the battery. The heat exchangers drawing heat from ambient air below or even just above freezing air will ice up like any other heat pump. Not saying it's bad, but it's not going to work as well in a stationary car. Even the high speed of air rushing through the heat exchangers in a moving car would be part of the effectiveness of the heat pump that doesn't exist in a stationary car. They could apply some power to the motors with the brakes on to generate considerable waste heat, but that's going to reduce the running time. In the end I think they'd last about the same as an IC engine car. Like I said I'm not criticising the Tesla, just think you might have missed those points. I'm Australian and even in Melbourne where I live, the southern most mainland capital, cooling in summer is way more important than heating in winter... the temperatures in the US in winter are mind boggling.

@@mikejosef2470 Well...when you burn fuel in deep snow at idle you have to worry about gassing yourself to death. When you use a heat pump you may have to worry about one of the aero-flaps under the front bumper is getting iced up in the open position decreasing the efficincy of the heat pump. Bottom line is that it take power to generate heat and both fossil fuel and electric vehicles take an efficiency hit when driving or sitting idle in snow. Trucks with V8s use about a half gallon per hour, Teslas about 1kw per hour.

The heater in a gas truck doesn't affect the mileage. It gets heat from the engine coolant and a fan. AC on the other hand takes around 4 to 20 horsepower depending on how cold it is and the year of the car.

The poor winter performance has a lot more due to the driver than the vehicle or even vehicle speed. Also tires are going to be a major factor for off-road winter driving. It’s a brand new truck so it’s going to take some time to figure out tire combinations that are best for each situation. And skilled drivers also helps.

Imagine your towing let's say a trailer going camping your running out of batteries after about 80-100 miles because your towing something heavy then your running out of power because your battery is dying there's a truck traveling with you now he has to tow your trailer until you get to a charging station then you get there and there's a long line of ev's waiting to charge too while the truck your traveling with had to sit there and wait until your charged. You hook back your trailer and then this happens at least twice because your traveling around 300 miles. Then you finally get to your destination unhook your trailer and the truck traveling with you is playing off-road you want play too but you struggle to go up a simple hill while the truck your with is long gone up that hill then you finally make it up and now you see a muddy patch while the other truck has drove through it already and then you think you can drive through the muddy patch too and try to go through it but get stuck and dig in so deep and your soo heavy that no one can pull you out the other truck laughing at you and all you can do is cry and say " well at least I'm faster than you!!" while it's doing donuts around you

OH MY GAWD USE SOME TIRE CHAINS!! We get a bit of snow where I live, and I've watched a ton of idiot driver icecapades vids, and not once have I seen a vehicle other than a big rig, live or on video, stuck or spun out in the ice/snow, that had chains on. This is also considered operator error, for being too lazy and/or stupid to even slip on some snow tire socks. The "You just have to know how to drive in the snow" people that fly around in their 4x4s are the ones that end up in a ditch most often, as I drive by in my 20 y.o. econobox with the chains I bought at the thrift store for $3.
