Australia: Down 33% YoY and 9.6% Year to date. To put that in context, our market has grown by 8.7% overall. 50-100 mile range CITY cars in an EV format would have got a 'foot in the door' but, no - they had to try to copy existing ICE vehicles only to find that customers can make direct comparisons and see the failings resulting in the decline in acceptance. Fools. There is still a place for EVs and a place for ICE. Maybe *in time* people would adopt pure EVs but there is simply no way an EV can now (or ever) replicate the versatility of an ICE vehicle.

Germany still doesn't have fibre internet nationwide, despite the demand being absolutely clear since the mid-90ies. BEVs require charging stations, those are more difficult and expensive to install than internet access. And nobody needs a BEV, it's just a subset of people who needs/wants a car that chooses to have one. So a lot less people than internet. Germany is bad at infrastructure, nobody expects BEVs working there before 2050.

Heads up! Look into ZeZ zones. The first I saw was in Oxford UK, I've seen more popping up now. Zero emissions zones. Charging to drive for non EVs. Low Emmisions zones were Trojan horses. ZeZ is the slippery slope to force you into an EV, ICE vehicles will be banned altogether in towns and cities, then EVs will have huge charges placed upon them, after ICE has been removed. Then only state workers and the wealthy will be allowed to drive only EVs. Everyone else will be prisoners in 15 minutes cities. Rural areas will be rewilded, or turned over to factory farming of Soy and insect protein.

The gyrations EV owners go through to figure-out how to line-up their EV's to properly plug-in as been fun for them to watch. Just yesterday a tow truck brought in a dead EV for charging. A tow truck with a diesel engine! Not too mention the Rivian that pulled in with a bot trailer attached. Plugged in to charge with the boat trailer blocking the lane to the parking lot!!! Don't forget the growing realization of fire risks- There needs to be a new fire risk catagory - chain fires. It is not reasonable to say a BYD dealership burt to the ground; it was due to one BEV catching on fire - no; it was the quick & unstoppable rate of fire spreading to other BEVs that makes them super dangerous when packed in high density together. The Recent loss of life in Korea was a lithium battery factory w batteries stacked up on top of eachother, doing nothing. Ever noticed Battery Farms spread the battery packs apart? They absolutely know if they put them close together; a there is a high risk a of fire that would burn the entire facility down.

Have a shop give a report on the used hybrid before you buy. The next gen of Toyota hybrids will involve new tech. Before I comment further, I can afford new cars and my oldest is 6 years and the newest under 3 years so the comment is not sour grapes or envy. Under no circumstances should taxpayer monies be used to subsidize a private expenditure and this includes cars, housing, and any other goods. There are taxpayers who will never be able to afford a newish used car let alone a new car and they should not be subsidizing others to have the privilege of owning a new car. The Germans were right to end the subsidy on 31 December 2023 and the Australian Government should reverse the FBT concessions so that EV purchases are taxed properly. It is interesting that the German EV sales IMMEDIATELY dropped once the subsidy ended and overall are 30% down with the (formerly) over-priced Tesla faring even worse. I would venture that the EV market here for the dearer EVs would immediately slump too if subsidies were withdrawn. English leasing companies found out last year and Australian ones are finding out now that with 3 and 4 year leases coming to an end, that the lessee owes far more than the vehicles can be sold for or traded in for. The loss of course needs to be funded by the lessee.

"Wallet emptying to repair". Yep, i can testify that that statement is true. Somone i know with a (won't name the Model) EV had to have a seat controller repair done. Cost thosands... and was still under warranty. They said he was too "large" for the seat. They couldn't simply swap the mechanism over. They had to reprogram everything, since all the modules were individually coded for the car. So using used parts from a scrap car is also not feasable, as non-main dealers have no access to the security codes to pair up newly fitted modules. But this seems to be the trend with ALL new cars, not just EVs.

Germany has one of the more favorable environments for using EVs: commutes of less than 50 kms and “long trips” of usually less than 500 kms. Also not much cold weather and a sadly greenwashed majority of people. But recent Green party policies have actually made EVs less attractive: they abolished generous EV subsidies and switched off nuclear power, leaving us with nearly the most expensive electricity in Europe and not much savings for EV owners. Thankfully the subsidies that distorted the market are gone and predictably EV sales tanked. If EVs are not attractive or competitive in Germany, how much worse for long distance countries like Canada, Australia and the US?

People don't realize the number of trees destroyed in the production of the electric car. The EV battery is classed as hazardous material and must be packed in a container as stipulated by the Department of Transportation. Usually, this a large padded box made of timber or plywood and adds around $2,000 to the price of the car. The size of the box is about the size of a two-door refrigerator. So, if they produce 1 million batteries, they also must produce 1 million boxes for the transportation of batteries and that’s a lot of timber which means a lot of trees felled.
