Pick up at the Factory is a SUPER IDEA! I did that for my Corvette and it was Super! I was escorted around the factory to watch Corvettes assembled, my name was in LIGHTS upon entering the Plant then went to the Corvette Museum where after that tour, I picked up my new Vette and drove it home! It was Colossal! I would fly from Fla to say Texas, pick up my new Juniper and drive home! How COOL would that be!!

13:30 regarding the roadster: As I understand it, the idea for roadster 2 was to create the fastest production car in the world with crazy acceleration and highway range. But when they developed the new motor and tested it in the Model S, it turned out to be waay more cool to have a sporty, stylish family sedan with those capabilities. Way less development cost and suitable for a much larger audience. The S Plaid already did what a Roadster would have offered - minus a fiddly convertible top, little storage, only two seats and less practical use. The roadster 2 would have been a costly flagship product, while the Plaid easily generated revenue and being the flagship product at the same time. So they decided for the future of cheaper Sporty EVs for the masses instead of a niche product. I really like that decision! Let others do the niche lifestyle products for the rich.

The Cybertruck in Zurich belongs to the company of a guy in Switzerland who bought it in the US and had it shipped to Europe. He is now working towards having it certified in Switzerland. Its a Foundation series and he gets all software updated incl. FSD. He cannot use FSD though, since the navigation maps are the US ones. He made a presentation for us at the TOCH (Tesla Owners Helvetia) Club. There are KZbin videos showing it driving in Swiss mountain passes: the 4-wheel steering is fabulous there.

The Lease Buyout 26:48 is what I was told when I purchased my new Model 3 yesterday. I can pay the lease amount monthly - which is cheaper than financing - and then when the lease ends, I can get a loan from the bank to pay off the remainder. By then, I think interest rates will be lower, so it may be the cheapest monthly option overall.

31:10 Scissor doors! Exactly... been saying that since day one. NOT a good RT design for doors as-is. And the side-by-side with a normal car is not helpful, because hardly anyone ever opens a car door to its max, whereas these doors seem to be programmed to always fully extend. Also, once the RT door is open, a fairly bright, flashing red light should illuminate the place where the passenger will be exiting to get the attention of approaching traffic, as it may not always be able to pull up to the curb to let passengers out. This is also why it should have a totally flat front bench seat, so that, not only can it seat 3, but so passengers could get out the right door (in the US, anyway) with ease.

While California is the 5th largest economy in the world, it is only a fraction of its parent US economy. Congress passed a massive tax credit for all US made EVs. California, on the other hand, doesn't have enough income to do that, especially in the light of being the largest adopter of EVs in the US by far, 35% of all US EVs. Over half of those sales are Teslas. If Newsome allowed those to hog most credits, there would be little money left for other brands.

OK we forget the reason the incentives were put in place in the beginning. It was to assist the adoption of Evies and to encourage manufacturers to do so. Tesla was the biggest beneficiary of these subsidies. The company is a lot stronger than other EV manufactures. So here is the question does Tesla need incentives to be successful, probably not. Do other automobile manufacturers need subsidies to help encourage them to build Evies, probably.

Regarding the horn sound: I think the horn sound is stored on a small DSP board. So they *can* do updates, but it's stored permanently there and need to be flashed with the whole firmware of the DSP. So, no simple "let's switch this sound with a button" kinda thing.

It’s the envy of Texas as much as they try and talk crap about California. People always talk about the amount of people coming into Texas from California. An average of 600,000 move into Texas every but 480,000 move out (Texas governor leaves that fact out of bragging )they changed their mind move back to California or other states. Once a state gets a very large population, crime may increase, prices increase and housing your price range is harder to find etc. Texas and Florida are next. Florida has a problem right now with homeowners insurance. I was gonna retire there, but I’ve changed my mind looking at other options. Really sucks because I grew up in Saint Petersburg and would’ve liked to move back there.

I think a couple things happened with the lease buyback thing... #1 FSD super behind schedule. I think that's an obvious one. #2 I think just the general hassle of everything related to them not being able to simply give it a refurbishing and send it out as a robotaxi. They probably crunched the numbers on having to take them in, process them, store them, list them for resale, deliver, etc. and, yes, given the dedicated robotaxi and robovan, didn't see the point in dealing with used inventory if they'll likely never be repurposed for use in that capacity. However, that makes me nervous about 3s ever being able to be used as robotaxis, particularly because even new 3s seem to be eligible for buyout. Hmm...

Conjecture: I think the horn update being permanent because Tesla used an actually horn and there are two modes of actuation. You probably can change it back, but it would probably be an update in the following software, which would be difficult to update back and forth.

There are credible pushbacks to most of Elon's claims. Among other things, I don't see how you can call Democrat policies nihilistic. Just presenting Elon's tweets without any of the counter arguments which no doubt accompany them is just as dishonest as the "legacy media" might be. I live in a pretty much all Democrat area and have all my life and am a Democrat. Many times a year I have people tell me, even proudly, that they wish everyone on earth would die. There’s something very wrong about an ideology that leads to this. I think it stems from a very simplistic feeling that the weaker someone is the more virtuous they are. When the mouth says one thing and the hand does another it helps no one. As an Independent it's easy to see that both parties do this. Up until about 2014 it was mostly on the Republican side. That seems to have swung over to the Democrats now. Anyone who is a party loyalist won't be able to see this, though. Newsom's plan for offering EV incentives in CA excludes Tesla because the CA coffers couldn't handle including them. Tesla's sells so many EVs in CA that including them would drain any reasonable size fund for EV incentives really quickly. I can understand why they are excluding Tesla. They may end up having to exclude Hyundais and KIA EVs as well soon after starting such a program.

Vehicle factory pickup for BMW is/was called "European delivery" where you fly to Munich, tour the BMW Welt which is full of automobile exhibitions, delivery center and event hub. You pick up and drive your new car on vacation in Europe and when finished - drop off at a location near you and the vehicle is packaged and transported to your home. It was cancelled during the pandemic and am not sure if it has restarted yet.

Yeah. You could drive Boring machines underground, while searching for frozen Hydrogen/Oxygen from which to source Oxygen (for breathing) and obviously H2O for water extraction. Digging underground habitats and plant growing facilities. After all, if Mars is to support Humans, it needs to be self sufficient in all the basics. Perhaps animals could be raised underground? Chicken farms?
