I want to thank Mike for this video. I want to be clear; Mike paid full retail for a mount kit and chose to do this video on his own accord. He asked me to shoot that clip he included. But, I am not paying him, nor did I ask him to do this. I am, however, grateful for his review.

If (and that’s a big if) I was going to make this modification, I’d go with the Atlas mount. The reason would be that the care, thought, engineering, design, and quality are very obviously there. But I am actually quite satisfied with the touchscreen as it is. To each their own. If this guy comes up with other products for the Model 3, I’d certainly consider them. He knows what he is doing. Thanks for the great review!

I wish I saw this video a week ago. I ran into a man who was approximately 6’7” tall, maybe taller. He was interested in my brand new Tesla and I let him sit in the car to see how he fit. His knee was touching the screen in my 2022 model Y. I told him there was a larger model and he might want to go test drive it but I wish I had been able to tell him that there were mounts like this that he could look into. Hopefully if he goes for a test drive someone will suggest that to him. Thanks for the video it’s very clear that I would also by the atlas mount if or when I am ready to do so.

I would really much rather prefer Matt’s product but at this point there is such a price discrepancy. I can buy the Chinese version on Amazon right now for $99 with free shipping. Matt’s is $350 to $400 (atlas plus). Then add $15 more for shipping. So we are talking as much as $315 more for Matt’s best mount over the Chinese one which does 85% what Matt’s does. Just can’t justify that extra cost. If Matt’s Atlas mount was $200 I think it would be a no brainer. Matt needs to figure out a way to bring the cost down.

Well done - maybe a bit of a mea culpa? I would like to see the screen move up an inch or two - because when your phone is sitting in the chargers you cannot see the notifications at the top of the phone, and the screen would be easier to see with it closer to eye level to look over and not over and down so much. What was the reasoning for the design to go lower rather than higher?
@adamtm822 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is the main thing that stops me seriously considering this mod, the screen height is low enough at stock, and I wouldn’t want it any lower.

Thank you for the informative & quite helpful review. I ended up purchasing Tech Forum's Atlas Mount for my 2022 Model Y after watching a variety of instructional videos & reviews, including this one. I'm really looking forward to receiving the mount and getting it installed. I'm quite happy to pay extra for the superior quality & improved functionality of the Atlas Mount versus cheap counterfeits from the Far East. I strongly believe in rewarding the hard work & creativity of the product's inventor instead of exporting my dollars to knock-off copycats. (On a side note, I think it's shameful that Amazon clearly does not respect patents and is more than happy to allow millions of pirated products to be sold on their platform, their sole interest being the massive fees & commissions they collect from such unethical vendors.) I do have one caveat - I purchased my Atlas Mount on October 13, 2022 and, other than the initial order confirmation, there has been no communication or status update from Tech Forum. It's been 3 weeks and I still have no idea when it will be shipped. I'm counting on it arriving by Thanksgiving 2022, 6 weeks after I ordered it, so that my best friend, who is much better at such things than I am, can install it for me during his visit from out of state. It will be a breeze for him, whereas I would very likely screw it up. 🤪 To be clear, this is not truly a complaint, because I'm optimistic I will receive the Atlas Mount in time. I assume Tech Forum is having difficulty keeping up with the demand for this awesome and highly-desirable invention, which is understandable. I just wish their communication was a little better. 🙂

The tech forum mount may not fit. The mount was too big to fit in the bracket on my model y. The competitors fit without any issue. Also the plastic shroud looks better (OEM) on the competitors kit. Made my own strain relief that appears to be working fine.

Good for you. If it’s working for you then great. I personally am not a big fan of the wonky and cheap feel of the cheap Chinese knockoff and prefer a well thought out design that works. To each their own. 🤷♂️

Hi, Have you had any experience with electric one?
@EVRevolution2 жыл бұрын
Great overview much thanks. I was just sent a generic left/right swivel mount (no up and down) to promo, however I did not consider the cable strain relief which I too think is a deal breaker. The additional features of the Atlas mount make it a clear choice for overall quality and more importantly, longevity. I plan on keeping my 2020 Model 3 for 10 years or until it dies, so I don't want to worry about the cable breaking and having to spend $1500 bucks on a new screen! One question I don't thing you addressed....do any of these mounts void any part of the Tesla Warranty related to the screen? If the screen has an issue, say a year down the line after installing one of these mounts, with the vehicle still in full factory warranty, will Tesla not fix it under warranty because of the mount? Appreciate any feedback on this.
@FrugalTeslaGuy2 жыл бұрын
Most likely it will. However, if it’s a concern you can always re-install the original mount before you take it in if you do have screen issues.
@44kas88 Жыл бұрын
Which I did to have the entire dash replaced under warranty, and they knew about the swivel/tilt mount when I first brought it to service for the dash replenishment. So no, it WONT void it. Just put it back to OEM and they'll do any repair needed..!!

New screen is $1000 btw. Takes 15 minutes to replace oem
@MrMsm333 Жыл бұрын
If cable strain is only your concern, zip tie the cable to the mount for generic brand will save you $250-$300. I agree that Atlas mount is superior product, just not sure whether it is 3 times superior ($99 vs $350). $250 more to protect a screen that could be easily replaced (if worse comes to it) for $1000.

Until you have one! It really makes a difference. I hesitated at first, but once I installed...game changer. Especially my comute is west/east, so the sun is always behind me creating glare. The tilt completely eliminated this issue.

As a wearer of progressive lenses, I am interested to see if a swivel mount will make the right-hand part of the screen easier to read. In the default configuration, there is a different focus distance between the left and right part of the screen, making quick glances more difficult.
