I find that preheating for about 20 minutes warms the battery up enough that regen works as expected.

Thats a good point, pre-heat or charging up just before you are about to leave helps you get your regen up

In Siberia, in winter, at -35C, the consumption is 27-30 kilowatts per 100 kilometers, the speed is 90km / h, the windshield is frozen at the top, the driver's glass is also all in ice, after the trip the door freezes on the seals. If the car was not charged at night = the battery is cold and the recuperation does not work.

Can u please do a big video with more realistic data about winter and then Compairing with the "uk summer" when the temp will be above 27c and air-condition? Now it. Will be a good. Test as UK has got minus 5 minus 7! Also. Please do a v3 charging please! 15 to 90 percent. Please!

Hi, I will do once restrictions lift, at the moment we are stuck in the county we live in, so can't really travel anywhere. Might not get a winter range test in this year now, but will do next year, and I will have another go at the supercharger

Hi, as many have stated I'm thinking of a model 3 std range, I travel from Manchester to Anglesey several times a year. the Mileage is around 120 each way and there is a supercharger approx half way. Only trouble is there is no feasible charging at the destination which means 120 mile round trip between charging (60 from charger to destination and return to charger). Not sure its going to make it in the winter at highway speeds.
@TeslaTorque3 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, I just did a trip to Newquay, I had a similar situation with no charging at the destination. (I was lucky in the end and just plugged it into the mains, so avoided it, but it was going to be a close turn around back to the charger without). Could you use an extension cord and the 3 pin plug charger? I've just looked, not even a supercharger planned in the future. I think in winter you would be pushing the limits potentially or at least it would give you some stress on the journey. I don't think there is even a local slow charger, as just looked on ZapMap app.
@paulhiggins45303 жыл бұрын
@@TeslaTorque Hi, I've bought a model 3 anyway and used your referral guess I'm just gonna have to rely on a couple of the slower 3rd party chargers dotted around. I love holidaying in Cornwall and that's a challenge but there's an option to granny charge when I get there, and it's only likely to be in the summer, I'm hoping to get maybe 220 highway miles in the summer months ???? Maybe !. Thanks for your response, kind regards Paul.

Hi Great vid. Your garage looks narrow like mine do you summon the car out of the garage ? I would like to see how you "call " the car forward as my driveway is narrow as well Thanks
@TeslaTorque4 жыл бұрын
Summon is very temperamental, it seems to fluctuate with every software update. I emailed Tesla to ask is it my car or the software. They replied with something very generic, which makes me think its the software :). It has sometimes worked out my garage, but most of the time not.

Just stumbled upon the channel, really enjoy it. Very informative. I'm thinking about getting a model 3 but I've heard you need to buy an adapter to be able to use non tesla chargers, is this true?
@TeslaTorque4 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, sorry about the delayed response, I've been busy with my actual day job. in the UK you don't need to buy an adapter, you just need a CCS type 2, which seems to be fairly common, you can get apps that tell you which type each charger has. Some you just plug your own cable in that comes with the Tesla, I've not had any issues, and definitely wouldn't stop me buying one
@10839164 жыл бұрын
@@TeslaTorque thanks for that.

I’m surprised that the consumption was so high. Will you be doing a longer range test in the Winter ?
@TeslaTorque4 жыл бұрын
Yep, I've got some longer road trips planned when Lockdown allows overnight stays and travel between tiers. It's all a bit limiting at moment.
@MrRobert16034 жыл бұрын
What’s the furthest you’ve gone on a 90+ charge ? Thanks
@TeslaTorque4 жыл бұрын
I’ve never driven it to below 10%, but I did a road trip over the summer and averaged 192 Wh/mile so that would get me about 200 miles if I started with 90% and started charging again at 10%. it was heavy traffic though. So low speeds

I think its KZbin, You encode it from editing, then KZbin re-encode it again. So I think that's the reason. I normally upload is a lot higher format than needed to try and overcome that, but clearly didn't work that time. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll watch them back in high definition next time, I normally only watch them in standard version when they are processing the HD version and you can't really see stuff like that.

Have you tried TeslaFi? You might think that you had 1% drain but it’s quite likely that your car topped up the battery a few times overnight. :)
@TeslaTorque4 жыл бұрын
I did a trial of TeslaFi, but to be honest it probably gave me too much information ;) My charger only charges between 12:30-04:30am, what I think I tend to find is it tops up to 80%, but stops almost as soon as it gets there, so like 80.1%, so it wont take much to drop, like 0.2% to make it read 79%, I think that's probably what happened
@Medea0074 жыл бұрын
So on a long journey in winter on 100% your range is 100 miles?
@TeslaTorque4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where that number come from, it was a while since I made the video, but in winter you can expect to get 3 miles per kWh if you drive with heating on and don't pay much attention to the power use with your driving style. As the battery is approx 50kWh in the SR+, you could expect 150 miles range as a worst case scenario on 100% charge. There are ways to improve this. Basically 330Wh/miles equals about 3 miles per kWh, where as 250Wh/mile works out as 4 miles per kWh (an expected summer value), hope that helps. I have got less than 200Wh/mile in heavy traffic in summer, which is 5 miles per kWh. So it very much varies on weather and road speeds.
@Medea0074 жыл бұрын
@@TeslaTorque started with 80% and used 20% in 20 miles roughly.

Really enjoying your content, been have a binge watch of your stuff hoping to be a Tesla Model 3 owner in the future.. My only gripe is I know what your channel is about and the car your driving, can't we just call it the TM3 saying Tesla Model 3 every third sentence is driving me crackers.. It's not just you everyone with one who owns one is obsessed by saying it. It's like a badge of honour. I'm sure you didn't say my Ford Fiesta 1.1 popular plus back in the day.. Keep up the good work just use the acronym TM3 you never know it might start a trend..
@TeslaTorque4 жыл бұрын
Haha, you have a very good point. it might just be me, as I did use to say my Ford Fiesta econetic a lot 😂. I find my friends when I just say Tesla go ‘of that one with the wing door things’ I’m like nope and have to say Model 3 anyway. but if I say a model 3, no one has a clue what I’m on about but they’ve heard of Tesla so I have to say Tesla afterwards. so I’ve got in the habit of saying the whole thing. I’ll try and tone it down, but guess there will be non-Tesla folk that won’t get TM3, so I might give that a miss until it hits main stream appreciate the feedback though 👍🏻

And wait until the uk government decides to start taxing electricity on electric cars as uk gov tax on petrol is super high always.
@TeslaTorque4 жыл бұрын
Thats where you get solar panels and battery storage, surely they couldn't tax that? But I do think that is the long term plan, hence the grant for chargers is only smart charges so they can monitor your electricity usage in your car.
