The ONLY reason I am booked to get my MCU upgraded is because 3G cellular is being phased out here in AU this year. If the LTE only upgrade was available in Australia, I would have gone with that. The cost for the MCU2 upgrade here in AU is $3600 with the radio mod. My MCU1 is working perfectly, and I still think it's a waste of resources and money for the MCU2. Throwing away a perfectly working MCU1 makes me angry. And loosing AM radio also pisses me off too. I wish we could hold onto 3G here in AU, just let it run.

No, interestingly enough it seems like Tesla has slowed down my supercharging speed because I have free supercharging

Try arriving around 9% SoC. My 2014 S 85 will peak at 130kw. The curve is a lot slower than the 3, but the price is right :) Also, if 60% makes the next one, no need to charge higher.

Yes it does, the whole screen experience is upgraded, it's worth it!

Did you notice any changes to audio quality after your MCU2 upgrade? After my upgrade, my model S with UHFS sounds significantly worse and much less powerful. I really need to crank up the volume at highway speeds now.

The only usefulness is the screen becomes a lot more responsive. You can actually use the browser navigation quicker.

The latest software (as of 24 March 2024) has added this feature! There's now an an icon named START on the Controls menu of the app. To be clear: you can now start the vehicle with just your iPhone, a key fob does not need to be present! I'm very happy about this because I bought my 2015 P85D after owning a 2020 Model 3.

No, this car never came with a card, it only had the key fobs and you can use your phone as a key, but that's the same with the old MCU

you guys probably found information on this by now but Steam only works on models included with MCU-3. The older Teslas and even Models 3 and Y built before the 2023 model year are not capable of running Steam. 2021+ S and X and 2023+ 3 and Y will have the new processor, so you can expect Steam to run on them.

My 2015 S (got it a week ago) has orig MCU. No issues (I’ve only had it a week so what do I know?) I played with wiper blade replacement & blades immediately went to 45deg to allow blade changes. Today wiper blades arrives & turned on service/wiper replace link. Nothing. Tried 3-4 x no movement. Got out & saw I could still rem/repl blade in resting position. Changed 1st wiper & struggled on 2nd when blades suddenly moved to service position. Took 10 min for wiper service to wake up & move wipers to change position. MCU in Rip Van Wrinkle mode?

The easiest way is to see if it has the theater option to watch Netflix, Hulu etc. the 2014 came with the old MCU, Someone would have had to have upgraded it later on.

@@Myksgarage so after further research it comes with the same radio/XM Radio that the MCU1 comes with. The issue I have is I bought a lifetime radio and streaming sub in 2006 that I got partially screwed on as the fine print said I could only do 3 or 4 radios then I had to pay.....pretty much BS. However the streaming is still free. Since I cant stream with an APP on the MCU1 I need to use the browser which im told is much better on the 2. I need to be able to cancel my spotify which im paying $17.00/mo.
