This video is a bit misleading, please see the following bullet points: - When you leave your house you will have 100% charge in the battery, that means you can go the full 315 miles to the charge. (The NEDC Range of an electric vehicle which is what he quotes here is a lab tested range so it's a load of rubbish) - As temperatures get colder and especially less than 0°C then range is also reduced - Charging via a 13A 3 Pin socket is something that no electric car owner ever does. You would get a 32A Socket installed in your house for a Tesla or a Wall Charger for other makes. Renault even fit one for FREE for every new Renault Zoe EV customer. - There are well over 4000 non Tesla charging points across the UK. Get an adapter and a Tesla can be used on most of these points. (A lot of these are fast chargers, often on or near the motorway network) - Who does more than 315 Miles or even 250 Miles every day? If you do 250 Miles for 365 days that's 91250 Miles a year. The car will pay for itself in no time. The average mileage a person does in the UK per day is around 25-30 Miles so having that range will mean a single battery charge overnight that will cost £2 will last you between 10-12.5ish days of driving for the average person. - After driving between 250-315 Miles on a single run most people will stop for 30/45mins for a coffee, toilet and food break. Plug it in when you get to the service station then get back to an 80% charge and drive off. Simple

To all the the people who say "this car is boring, it doesn`t make any loud sounds, it is too expensive or it doesn`t drive far enough, it is not really so environmenal friendly " , just drive one and you understand why people praise this car so much. Of course not everything is perfect, for example the interior or some alignment issues, but this company has achieved what many thought to be impossible, make a electric car with a Ludicrous acceleration a long range for most people who don`t drive more than 300 miles per day, and all this in just a little over 10 years !! Yes it is still very expensive, but when Model 3 comes out in late 2017 (or probably 2018) it will start at 35.000 dollars. I know that is still not exactly cheap but Tesla produces better all electric cars than any other automaker right now and with time their cars will also get affordable. Most Tesla super chargers get their electricity from solar panels so no, it doesn`t come from a coal plants and even if it did it would be better than ICE cars because the efficiency of electric cars is way better than that of ICE cars ( I think it was 20% on ICE vs 60% on electric cars efficiency but I could be wrong) . Yes Lithium also needs to be mined somewhere and solar panels also require some materials to be build , their is no such thing as a "PERFECT SOLUTION" but we need to think of "the best solution" and in my opinion mining Lithium is way better than fighting wars with different countries over oil and letting people die in these wars. Polluting the atmosphere in cities with emissions which can lead to lung cancer and in the end death is also a big problem. The last thing is the range, probably 95 % of people don`t need to drive more than 300 miles per day and probably would only need to charge their car at home 1-3 times per week . Also battery technology is improving every year and so does the charging speed. Their are already Teslas who drove 200.000 miles without much battery degradation .

+Tech Stuff I have a feeling electric cars are primed to wipe out all petrol-powered cars the same way aircraft carriers wiped out the battleships. The 'Pearl Harbor' moment for combustion engines is coming and Elon Musk is pretty much the automotive equivalent of General Billy Mitchell, with his cars demonstrating the imminent obsolescence of fossil-fuels against the new electric revolution. In short, if we want to indulge in the petrol engine, now would be the best (and last) time to do it. Very soon we'll have to kiss them goodbye, and goodbye will mean forever.
@robertopescatore35757 жыл бұрын
There is this misrepresentation of charging again. People who own teslas allmost never ever spends time charging or "filling up the gas" as this guy says, because they charge it at home while they sleep and takes seconds to plug in. Others do the same at work. So like everyone owning this car spends zero time recharging since the car would be parked there anyway. Just in those very rare occasions when you do drive more than 300 miles you have to spend some time to recharge, but again you need to eat to drink to take a leak, nobody drives 300 miles at once it's unhealthy. So you plan your stop location at the same place where you can charge the car. Even if once in a year road trip you would have to spend 30 minutes to recharge it on the road, just remember how many many ours you saved during that year for not spending any time to refuell the car.

A blatant lie ? Anyone who could afford a Tesla can also afford a petrol runaround for when the Tesla is recharging or isnt sufficient charge for the journey planned. I bought this 3 months ago and I’ve payed almost 4000 dollars including all special features such as sterilisers and heaters, I frequently get asked by my brother if it was worth it, well, the answer is yes and no. Are Teslas expensive? - It depends if you’re leasing, loaning or buying, when you lease, you’re basically renting it and the car won’t be yours, if you’re loaning it, the bank lends you money to pay for it as long as you’re capable of doing so, if your bank credit isn’t what it was before you bought the car, they can choose to either stop lending you the money, wherein you lose the car, or they can keep lending you money, only loan if you think your finances are stabilised, if you have 80,000 dollars to spare, then you can buy it. These three options are all relative, I suggest buying one when you think a thousand dollars per month isn’t something too valuable. Are there any battery-stations when using the car? If you’re willing to drive longer just to go to that one station, then yes, but if you aren’t, steer clear of teslas and buy something within the vicinity of the price range, i.e, Cadillacs, mustangs, jaguars etc. How high should my credit score be to loan? Where do you live? If you live in the states, it depends on which state, to loan one, you should have at least 700+ credit, banks won’t lend you loans if they think you can’t afford one. If this is all too complicated, make 6 digits, or 7000+ per month. How long will I pay for it? 6 years (loan= 1000 per month), 3 years (lease= 1000 per month) Is it worth it? For me? Absolutely, If you’ve been dreaming of a driverless future since you were a kid, then every single penny, cent and dollar is worth it, if you’re doubtful, then don’t buy it.

Yes, but unlike Apple, Tesla actually makes products worth "worshipping". Admit it, the rest of the car industry is a stagnant aging dinosaur. 2019 BMW models STILL come with a fucking handbrake!!? WTF FOR?!! A Tesla puts on its 'Handbrake' every time you park, why would you not want to? The tech and screens in all other cars are a joke. This is the only brand of car that is actually doing something different, and doing it far better than most luxury/tech/super cars. Every other brand has been playing it safe for decades making small changes every 4-5 years. Nobody innovates but Tesla in this industry.

@@GAMEVIDSnorwegian422 that's because you're living in Norway. There, a lot of people are driving electric cars and the infrastructure is expanding at a good rate, but you gotta think about other countries. Even countries like the US, Germany or France still have it pretty good compared to the rest of the world because the German, Us American, and French auto makers like Ford, Tesla, Renault, Peugot, VW, Mercedes, BMW, etc. will build up a solid infrastructure there, but what about countries like Portugal which just don't have an automotive industry? Either the state will have to pay, or some foreign companies will need to start building up an infrastructure there, and this might still take even more time, so it'll take even more time until you'll see a solid amount of Teslas there

The p100d does NOT compete with the porsche panamera turbo in price and performance...these reviewers just don't get it.. the panamera is both slower in traffic and much, much more expensive, an engine as powerful as the panamera turbo has needs that kind of nice smelling petrol, loads of it. The porsche will rule on the track but who buys a panamera for the track? Tesla is boss on the road, and if you can afford that much for a road car, a second car, gt3rs track toy won't break the bank. I already have and love my track toy but for the road, nothing beats tesla for the moment. Quiet, fast, cheap to run.
@carwow7 жыл бұрын
Agree with some of your points - but the Panamera Turbo is £113k - the P100D is £130k.
@RichardButlerUK7 жыл бұрын
I guess carwow are in a better position than most to know what price they actually go for. Do you know what the difference in running cost would be over the average period that a typical owner has one? Say a 3 year leasing deal, as a company car, with petrol at £?? a gallon, with the odd day trip into central London? and the odd day trip to Scotland, or Wales, or Cornwall, or France? So someone that actually uses it, rather than it being a decoration that gets hidden in the garage, like a Paranmera Turbo owner that I know. I'm guessing that £17,000 difference would soon disappear in petrol, servicing and BIK.
@ringerbart7 жыл бұрын
Where i live (Belgium) the purchase price is about the same for both cars, around 158000€, i don't know why you guys in the uk get sooo screwed over with tesla's, 17000£ is a lot or maybe it's just that porsches are cheaper in the uk. A quick calculation shows the enormous cost advantage for the p100d in Belgium. I only use taxes and fuel so i even leave out the maintenance advantage for the tesla. Over 5 years (so not that long) and 100000km a p100d costs 4000€ in electricity and for now nothing in taxes. The porsche costs a whopping 25000€ over 5 years so any price difference is gone fast, even when the government starts to tax ev's because they lose money on them. Also driving only half that distance still means 2000 vs 12500€. I like porsche a lot but on the road for daily driving it's waaaaay to expensive and 1.5sec slower to 160km/h, a speed that we can go in very few countries. Who cares about 160-250km/h times for a road car when you need to go over 200km/h to start overtaking the p100d. Love the reviews so we can see these awesome cars go full tilt but road cars are for the road with road rules and prices, real track cars cost 3x as much to use them on the track then what they already cost on the (mostly boring) road.

i hope the model 3 isn't getting the same insane base price as the model s here. If the base model 3 comes out above 40 000€ here it will not sell as well as it could and the bolt/ampera e will hold all the cards for now. Either way, my next daily ride will be electric. I'm going to stop funding middle east oil countries even if it's only a tiny part of the price per liter here. The rest disappears in the government black hole anyway.

Question: What's the point of ludicrous mode if using it is bad for the car? If you use it a lot, I presume they will give you a bad time on warranty work for the motor and/or battery? Seriously, having to answer that question seems to say that anyone who wants their Tesla to last shouldn't use it. I'm not bashing Tesla here. I'm a fan of BEV's and PHEV's and expect them to continue to improve relative to ICE's. I'm just trying to understand all the emphasis on top performance (which you pay a BIG premium for), if using it will cause premature battery/motor wear.

The thing is while the performance is impressive from a standstill and at low speeds, as you accelerate, electric motors lose their efficiency so it'll use a lot of juice at high speeds and after, say, 70 mph, any petrol-powered car in the same price range (Panamera Turbo, RS7, and so on) will leave it for dead.
@TimCancila7 жыл бұрын

you are comparing a car without a gearbox and cars with gearbox, just add 1 extra gear to tesla and it will cover you for speeds up to 130 mph, 70 mph that you mentioned is pretty much the legal limit in most of the countries, so who cares what happens after that?)
