Noises are the worst. Had a few with my used 2021 model 3 LR from china, thankfully still got almost a years warranty to get them all sorted. Rattle from middle of dash, squeaky bushings, wind noise from windscreen being too low, broken clip on wheel cover that got broken during a service visit, and also the same type of sqeak coming from the rear left seat area, not quite figured it out yet but could likely be the mechanism to hold the seat in place

Mine too. December 22. Electrical tape (thicker type) from friendly Tesla tech wrapped around metal to which seat clips reduces rattles. I redo it once per month and it keeps it quieter. There is another rattle from the back which I have yet to track down. And another behind the dash since they had it out. It’s these things that really irritate.
@SilkyWayFPV6 ай бұрын
I had the same in my model 3. it was a play inside the lock that holds the rear backrests. Put a bit of tape around the metal thing that clicks in and it was gone

in winter on my model 3 the left backseat rattles every time you drive over something uneven, now its warm and its gone i read that it might have something to do with the folding axle of the seat, there are people that replaced their metal washers with 3d printed plastic ones to eliminate that rattle

It took years to identify, but I’ve had a buzz that is resonant with some road surfaces & freeways. It’s coming from a trim piece under the passenger front seat on the inside of the outboard seat rail. I’ve stuffed a small, wadded up plastic bag in there to kill the buzz.
@CFG396 ай бұрын
It’s amazing how incompetent Tesla is at some things, such as NVH. Every Model 3 produced for the first several years had flapping wheel well liners. You’d tell the Tesla service center people and they all act like they have no clue. Finally I ended up just getting some double sided felt tape and stuck it up in my wheel wells to fix it. Did the same thing for two other people with 3s that had the same issue. Also had problems with the dash rattling and a similar rattle to you under the passenger seat on the floor by a plastic trim piece. The felt tape did the trick there too. My car also came with the rear seat improperly installed (seat cushion wasn’t even clicked in place and the wires for heated seats were disconnected), B-pillar trim and seatbelt height adjusters weren’t installed properly, etc. I’ve made the decision to not buy another Tesla until something changes (hopefully at the very top if you know what I mean).
@ablyably6 ай бұрын
In Model 3, the culprit of a similar rattle is a plastic sleeve over a metal pole that connects the back seats. In order to fix it you need to take off the single seat so that the other one that has the center seat connected to it remains in place. In Model 3 center piece is connected to the driver side rear seat. This plastic sleeve is supposed to click into a groove in the metal pole but it easily comes out of it. This means that the other seat gets to move around the metal pole causing the squeaking. If you do this fix, it might be a good idea to also add a plastic or silicone seal/washer to the seat mounting point. In Model 3 this mounting point consists of bracket that attaches to the car with two bolts (permanently fixed to the car) and another bolt that attaches to the seat. Place the seal/washer in between the single bolt to make it thight. These fixed most of the squeaking for me.

I have been investigating clicking sounds from 5th door on old Leaf... I glued all plastic holders. I put some dampening stuff on cables, steel sheets, plastic. Nothing helped. Then I went to trunk and my wife was driving over bumps. It was door lock. I put some "furry" tape used to tight the cable harness as classical electrical tape tend to brake quickly around the eye where the door latches and complete almost digital silence sounded. If the Tesla has same problem with seats? My TMX has different seats so I have not personal experience with this type of Tesla seats but locks are the place where might be some free play that makes noise.

Tesla really can’t built the S and X right. Never will be. Such a shame for a flagship model. For me it has been minor issues (door handles, LED DRL, half shafts) but new Palladium models are much worse, DU issues that Tesla can’t fix. They should just give up and stop production. Still the most beautiful EV in the history even after 12 years in production.

I eventually gave up on the sea of rattles in my Model 3 because Tesla usually couldn't replicate them because they can *only* test drive around their service centre (apart from the one time they sent out a mobile technician which they "don't do anymore). Maybe it also will be a quite good second hand choice later on. It's just to hope that BMW can sell quite a lot of them, then the repair of the batteries will be cheaper. The more they sell, the more crashed cars there will be... And that lowers the prices of second hand batteries/modules/cells. The most common battery failures are a cell or module that doesn't work properly, and such a cell/module must be replaced with a part that is of the same age and wear. You can't have one new module in an old battery! As I like BMWs, I have to choose an affordable one, which means for the time being a 2011 X3, and the next car will be a 2017 X3, when the price comes down enough! 😉
