Whereas almost all customer surveys and real world experience shows ppl in general hate haptic touch controls in cars. Or even worse, basic functions like heat and A/C being trapped inside menus that take multiple inputs to reach. Also physical buttons can be located without looking away from the road while driving, making haptic buttons more hazardous overall.

That's the thing about new car and tech reviews. You really don't get to hear the bad unless it's glaringly obvious, nor do you get some of the intricacies of how things work. It would be nice to get more long term updates in the tech world. It is a bit more common with cars but there's very few I've seen on Teslas. I especially want to see long term tests on electric cars from people who aren't in the tech world, as in regular car reviewers. I think that would convert many that didn't care for electric cars to start.

Regarding the range discrepancy you're seeing, I noticed your Instrument Cluster shows the 19" Tempest Wheels, which is a 396 Mile EPA Rated Range for the Plaid, but your current car has the 21" Arachnid Wheels equipped. Tesla advertises those with a 348 Mile EPA Rated Range. You can change your car’s configuration to match your actual wheel setup under Settings > Wheel and Tire Settings > 21" Arachnid Wheels. This will update your car’s wheels on the instrument cluster and phone app as well. If you’re getting > 348 miles, you’re beating EPA rated range! Also, if you have factory 21’s, you have Summer Tires. You don’t want to use those under 40 degrees. You’ll want to switch out for an All Season or Winter tire. Running summer tires below 40 degrees can cause compound cracking, and they’re significantly worse in ice / snow.

Put in a service ticket, they will replace your yoke with the latest revision of it. They can even do it mobile service. The yoke has gone through a half dozen or so revisions since the original release and they fixed lots of small quirks/issues like the one you posted.

I have been shocked that other cars have not adopted Sentry mode and built in dashcam. It's crazy that so many cars have so many cameras, but they are virtually useless to the end user so much of the time.

Yup, there have been several instances where the car cameras have caught burglars to your home or even people being assaulted so if you have an open garage it can be an additional security camera. There have been cases where the criminal parks his car within view of the camera and the license plate can be seen later.

We could end up having police turn up with warrants to look through footage of our car or even just watch it without consent if Tesla uploads it to their servers (similar to Amazon's security cams). The rate at which we're losing our rights to privacy is worrying. Unless I know that the data is stored locally and password encrypted, and it is legally established that police can only get the data voluntarily out of me, this is bound to become a problem once these vehicles become more common and the police recognises this convenience.

Legacy carmakers have so many silod components, component designers/manufacturers and kind of have to go back to the drawing board to be able to integrate some or add certain types of functionality like this. Certainly in theory a very simple addition but in practice, unless you start over from scratch on all your A/V/tech for legacy car manufacturers it is much more complex than it was for Tesla.

The funniest part is that buttons to adjust the fan controls just got added back today after they were replaced with the slider last Christmas. I would still love a physical button to control the fan speed even though I can control it by voice (sometimes other people in the car are talking). And the main reason for me to not use auto mode is because the car blows heat right at your face and you can't override it (I prefer legs only for heat). They also added Steam (S and X only) with the recent upgrade, so you can now possibly play those other games you mentioned.

The phone as a key works so much better than I ever expected. I use it to heat the car and just leave the app open when I'm going to use the car and it's immediate to respond. The charger pad is the perfect design but I do think if phones get much bigger they won't fit(Model 3). My wife loves to use the voice commands for the frunk and trunk and I don't think she's ever used the UI buttons if she's in the car. That works really well too.

19:05 they’ve already added steam in the latest update 20:00 the hardware update is carbon ceramic beaks. Once Tesla sells them again they will unlock the top speed with software. Some people have unlocked the speed themselves

Some people unlocked three speed limiter and went 216mph in regular plaid, so the car is capable of those speeds, it's just locked at this point in time.

Marques! Thank you for putting so much efffort into this.. Totally agree with the 360 camera omission. Had a test drive in a Model X last week and was astonished that something so fundamental was not present. Here in Europe towns have small streets, narrow traffic lanes, and totally miniscule car parking spaces given the size of modern cars. This is a basic must-have (especially for the front corners and wheel arch area) despite the seeming effectiveness of the proximity sensors, especially in a car as large as the Model X.

The new software update addresses some of the negatives mentioned: adjusting the vent speed is now just as wished (with plus / minus buttons instead of a slider) and Steam has been integrated with a lots of games like Cyberpunk.

I got curious, so I looked up some of the mentioned things: -From a quick search, what I found was that a software unlocked model S plaid did break the 200mph speed, and 200 mph was supposed to be a software update, but they never did. Could be due to safety reasons, or to keep their 5 star safety rating. There wasn't much noise around it. -For the games thing, they said it runs cyberpunk well, but didn't launch it. Now it's done, as they added steam recently, so rejoice, I guess.

Both are things that need further corrections. On Tesla’s website, it continues to say the Model S will go up to 200mph with a future hardware* upgrade. So MKBHD still has the latest info and it hasn’t changed yet. And second, Steam just rolled out for the Model S/X days ago as a holiday update with thousands of games including Cyberpunk. I was surprised this wasn’t in the video.

I appreciate that you talked about the yoke. In concept, if no other things changed, I'm fine with a yoke. It would be weird to use for like a week, but I'd get used to it. 100% in the same boat with the damned capacitive buttons for all your critical features. Turn signals are a SAFETY FEATURE, and need to be reliable. Same with the horn Wipers and lights? Fine, make them "usually" automatic, one less thing to fiddle with when I need to. What about cases when, like in PA, you have to use headlights in work zones, when it rains, etc? Let's not forget that "automatic" != "reliable"

I think they missed the point of the yoke by not tightening the ratio down to one turn lock to lock. Like the airplane controls that inspired it, the whole advantage of a yoke is never having to reposition your hands, which can only work if you limit travel to 180° in each direction. It's drive by wire electric steering so it would be trivial to implement with a speed sensitive variable ratio, which would be a lot easier to get used to.

My main issue that I think I would have with the yoke is not being able to just let the wheel auto return to a straight position after turning. For example in any car right now when I take a turn I release pressure on the steering wheel and let it slide through my and and control the speed at which this happens by the amount of clamping pressure I keep on the wheel. You would not be able to do this at all with a yoke since the entire top half of the wheel is gone. I think it would be extremely annoying to always have to lift my hand over each other just to make a turn and is not something I can see myself ever getting used to purely because it's a less efficient way of driving to me.

I got confused and looked it up just now, I see a bunch of articles speculating Tesla will do that, and one Lexus production car that is going to have it. I personally think steer by wire is not a good idea, (break by wire too). There should be mechanical backups for safety critical systems.

At 20:03 - 20:15 when you mentioned the car needing a hardware upgrade to reach 200mph, this is true, but only if you order your Plaid with the 'Track Pack'. The normal Plaid will reach 166mph before bumping a speed restricter, but you theoretically only get a Plaid to top out at 200mph if you order the Track Pack, which costs a hefty but worth it $15, 000/£11,800. However, this also gives you the Carbon Ceramic brakes that you mentioned earlier in the video, and special wheel tire components to help your Plaid withstand the immense speeds. I really hope this helps, Marques and any other fellow readers!

For the fan speed try using the "auto" mode and adjust the fan speed with the temperature buttons. Saves you a few clicks to go into the HVAC control screen.

I realize some people like to adjust their air vent direction and fan speed constantly, but I can honestly say that in two years of owning a Model Y, I've set the vents once and I have never used anything other than auto climate mode. It's been absolutely perfect, and I would never go back to traditional vents and manual fan speed control.

Auto climate control sucks especially if you live where you have multiple seasons and temperature fluctuations throughout the day. Many cars don't let you set max fan speed either so the auto climate control will just blast heat or ac at full blast until the car reaches the desired temperature. Traditional vents are better because they wont break because of an electrical issue and you won't be taking apart the entire dashboard to fix something that should be simple.

Marques, It would be interesting to see what its like to downgrade now to a mainstream car and to see how far they have come. We all know tesla has been ahead of the curve when it comes to self driving, software, etc, but since this is a car channel, it would be awesome to get your reviews on modern average joe cars capabilities. We all know they are reliable, drive well, get good gas mileage, etc etc. But I have had 2 cars as of late that have smartphone integration, the ability to use their apps and so on (One is an accord and one is a camry). I have many thoughts on them that many "car reviewers" don't cover because they talk about the driving, not the liveability of the UX and UI. Thanks for the videos, keep at it.

If you're looking for a car to drive solely for pleasure, then yeah, it's going to be an adequate review, but if you want to know what the car can do in general, you'll going to miss like 70% of what's there.

My moms 2017 Mercedes’ e300 has self driving, lane changing ability, stop and go, heads up display, can park itself, etc. Sadly most American auto manufacturers are just now getting features like that. They aren’t the best. Maybe ten years idk.

Absolutely right about the door handles reliability. On my 2014 P85D all 4 door handles have been repaired or replaced at one time or another, some of them repaired more than once. The latest revision 3 handle with magnetic sensors inplace of micro switchs resolved some of the reliability issues. But it’s still a moving part with motor, and gear and also wires that flex so something is still going to break at some point. And also agree about the cheap build quality, especially the interior. My less than $30K 2013 Leaf has a heated steering wheel and mirror, why is the ~$130K 2014 Tesla does not. Heated steering wheel was not added to Model S not until 2016 and only come with optional cold weather package. But damn that drive train, battery range, software update and SuperCharger network is what got me to stick with Tesla. Hope as they get more mature on building cars the build quality can match the price they are charging.

I agree totally, it is such a fun car to drive and own. Concerning the fan speeds, I leave mine on auto 100% of the time which works great. Then I only have to adjust temperature usually by one degree. But it is so simple to give a verbal command of temperature 73 and it changes to 73. Also, I also cannot stand the turn signals and the horn “buttons”. Great review.

Can confirm that the holiday update has added Steam integration to my Model S and I have been playing Cyberpunk (among other games). 1 thing you'll want to do if you haven't already done so is to get an external SSD to store all those Steam games. at 100gb each they take up a lot of space. Luckily you can pop an SSD HDD into your glove box and format it for steam right from the Arcade screen. For reference I put a new 500gb Samsung T7 SSD in and it gave me 400gb of space for Steam while allocating 64 for TeslaCam. There is also 80gb of internal storage space allocated for Steam ontop of whatever SSD you plug in.

Great review! Funny that you talk about fan speed control. They did exactly what you wished for with the holiday update. Manual Fan-speed now has two arrows on either side to change the setting. (In my M3 at least)

And they also now let you choose low, medium, or high relative fan speed settings when in Auto mode. So if the only reason you're not using Auto is that the fan is too low or too high, you'll now be happy with Auto mode and won't need to manually adjust fan speed any more.

I’m surprised you had such high battery degradation. My dad’s founders edition 2012 model S which he has to this day had nearly 450,000km on it, and the battery has only degraded in capacity by 12%. He was a lifetime bmw buyer, and has sworn to only buy Teslas for the rest of his life with how reliable, enjoyable, and beautiful his Tesla is. He said he spent more in 8 monthes on problems with his 2008 M3 than he has in 12 years on his Tesla model S

Great review. Personally, the indicator buttons would be a complete deal breaker if I could afford this car. An indicator is just such a common thing to use, that I’d go nuts if it doesn’t work half the time. Obviously there are a lot of very nice things in this car. But to each their own.

I used to be, but right now I drive a 2019 Audi e-tron after a 6 month stint with a Tesla Model Y, which I loved until it started phantom braking 2-3 times per 20 minutes on highways. It became very dangerous, and Tesla service would only see me 3 months after I reported it. I like some aspects of Teslas a lot. But others are deal breakers. The fact that Tesla does listen to their customers sometimes (see update to last Christmas UI change that buried the climate controls one level deeper and was later reverted back), but obstinately doesn’t at other times (see buttons in steering wheel of Model S and X instead of stalks), is a stubborn streak on dangerous items that will ensure I won’t ever buy one again (unless they change their approach dramatically.

Steam is on there now and I love how they address some of the biggest complaints with a free update. The auto climate now being able to set as low, med or high is great. Sucks that your turn signal button doesn't work, can't they fix that under warranty?

I have the Model 3 and this was very interesting to watch. My car still has the physical stalks for turn indicators and gear switching, along with a full circular steering wheel. I've never used a yoke steering wheel, so can't really compare the two, but it seems like you got used to it quickly and are loving it. Is it difficult to use the capacitive touch buttons on the yoke when you're making a turn? For example, if you're making a U-turn and see a driver in front of you doing something strange, is it easy to locate the honk button and use it? I feel like I wouldn't be able to do it under the stress of that situation because you're turning the yoke and your hands have moved all over it, so the orientation might get all screwed up...but curious if this also becomes a muscle memory thing.

How long does it take to get used to the fact that all the controls are done through the screen? I work at a car dealer and the 1st time I got in a Model 3 we have for sale it took me ages to find the screen to turn on the wipers, or adjust the mirrors.

@@brendang673 it's definitely strange at first, but if you're driving it pretty regularly, then it becomes second nature with a week or two. The first time you try do something (like putting it in neutral or trying to defrost the windshield), it can be an awkward process of fumbling through menus, but after that, you'll get it and know how to do it.

Steam for the 2021, 200 mph, FSD, etc. Not sure why Tesla is perpetually in this "over promise, under deliver" mentality. If they never mentioned some of these things we would never care, like advanced gaming, but they instead under deliver when they could be "unknown" updates and create a fantastic owner experience. I still love the car and love the satin black wrap with camo touches.

Also steam/cyberpunk is now available but only to select newer builds of S and X. I'm guessing it could be retrofitted to older models. one less promise unkept.

I have a 2020 Model 3 LR and my only negative is lack of air shocks. There are some old parking garages in the city that are steep and a few times I have heard the bottom scraping plastic when I drive in or out. With air shocks I could lift the car up before entering and exiting. The Model S is too long for most parkings here in Barcelona and the Model 3 just barely fits.

With the new winter season update that my model 3 just got last night, the fan speed changing issue is somewhat addressed, they now let you choose "low, medium, high" instead of changing that stupid slider. For a while I had just resorted to using the voice control to set it to a specific number while driving because it was such a hassle.

I just put it on auto haha. I usually set the temp at 70F and adjust by a few degrees if I feel hot or cold. I don't think fan noise has ever been an issue once it gets to the set temperature.

Tesla seems to do the software right, but the hardware kinda suffers. I would also prefer physical buttons significantly more over capacitive buttons. I like the concept of the yoke not blocking the dashboard so you can see things better at a glance, that's muscle memory I'd be fine with learning, but having no physical buttons or options to reach over without looking to change simple things I would imagine being frustrating. Stuff to get used to, I guess. Hopefully other manufacturers can improve their software to be just as nice in some cases!

You'll get used to it, sure, and you're able to do more with buttons that can change, but it's inconvenient to have basic stuff hidden behind menus. Climate control and media controls shouldn't be difficult to access, not to the point where it takes your eyes off the road to change.

IMHO EVs already have enough range to fill these requirements/needs. You’re plugging up when you’re at home, giving essentially 80% range all the time. If you go further from home you’ll fast/super charge to come home or continue on. All of this is assuming you’ve decent charging infrastructure where you live too. If you don’t, then I could see why you’d want considerably more range.

My colleague drives a LR X with 3 younger kids and indicated he needs even more stops for kids, skewing the balance even more in favour for the car to not require you to stop separately for charging.

The other replies have covered most everything, but maybe it's worth stating the high level point simply. Yes, the battery tech will continue to improve. Buying an EV is exactly analogous to buying a new laptop: sure, if you wait until Apple's next product cycle, you'll get a better computer for the same price. That will always be a true statement, so at some point you just have to decide whether the current tech is enough to satisfy your needs. We've owned a Model S 75D since 2018 and it's great. Sure, I wish I had the better batteries from the new ones available now, but the 2018 tech works great for our use case.

I was wondering about the brake issue. I’m glad it’s addressed even with an expensive package. I would have changed the yoke out as well if it was my car and get a custom steering wheel. Sucks there’s no android auto or Apple car play or 360 camera mode. Overall not bad. You should do another follow up next year as well.

One of the things the yoke is worse at, that wasn't mentioned, is FSD. The yoke will jump around and you have to gently track its movements instead of just keeping the hand in one place and sliding the wheel, making it much harder.

Totally agree with your review. The two things I hate the most about mine is the lack of turn signal stalk and the hoops we have to jump through to get to a menu for adjusting a simple function. Also the horn should be where the airbag is. I don't know how many times I accidentally hit the horn during U-turn. By the way we are going into our first winter with our car. I am concerned if I had to make evasive maneuver when a car begin to slide on ice, I don't think that yoke is going to be easy to counter steer.

I have a model X plaid and I’m pretty sure any of your gripes would be fixed under warranty. Not that they’ll change the buttons - but they can make sure the steering wheel ones work. Also you can control fan speed on the steering wheel. Tray would be an easy fix too.

Marques, the idea is to use your climate in auto mode and control the fan speed in-directly using temperature. However, in the Holiday update (which is rolling out now), they have added Lo, Med, Hi fan speeds to the Auto setting, giving you more control. I think you will find that much more convenient.

I drive a 13 year old vehicle that has auto HVAC. Set it and forget it style. I love it and use it exclusively. However, I want to override it every once in a while. The kids want more air, or it’s a hot summer day and I just got in from working outside, etc. Sure, that’s a software problem and can be fixed with an OTA update. But there’s always going to be the occasional desire to override the computer.

Excellent review. A lot of what you stated applies to the ‘22 Model X as well. Exterior alignment issues and the “creakyness” of the interior build were my two biggest complaints, especially given the price you pay for these cars and they do not come even remotely close to BMW or Mercedes in terms of the robustness and a lot of the materials all around the car feel cheap and not well put together. But a lot to love about the Teslas as well and their supercharger network is excellent, and I love the OTA software updates. Let’s hope Tesla puts more focus on build quality in the future on all their models!

I got a Model 3 Performance and really love it, this one is awesome but obviously way out of the budget. The dream car is definitely the new roadster though. Also, I recommend leaving your hvac on auto, with the new holiday update you can choose between low medium and high, makes it easier and is much more efficient. Hey Marques! Just a heads up, don't calculate degradation from the "miles" that are displayed by the car. Those numbers are (as far as I know) calculated off of you driving habits. I believe that my mileage shown lines up with my master trip. 👍

My miles achieved is routinely much lower than the miles displayed. So if it's calculated off my driving habits, it's happening at the same time as degradation at the same rate.

Those numbers are *NOT* calculated of your driving habits but what the Battery Managment System estimates the max capacity of the battery is. Try resetting the BMS by charging the car fully to 100% (wait until you get the message that charging is completed), drive until the Battery is below 10%, leave it at this state for a couple of hours (its important that the car goes into deep sleep, so no sentry mode or A/C protection), and then charge to 100% again. This wont change your actual range but should show now a higher max range on the display.

Also I believe some other EV's do it that way. Another way of doing it is driving it really low, and then measuring the amount of energy that goes in the car (from the charger side). Charge losses are easy to estimate/calculate, and after removing those you have a good representation of net capacity👍 Compare that to factory values and voila!

I have my standard Model 3 for a year now. Yeah there are some minor (at least for me) issues but I just love this car. I can't imagine ever going back to anything else than an EV. I ve run a 2014 Mode S for 130,000 uk miles, yes the handle mechanism breaks (wires that move and small microswitches ) but Telsa has designed out the faults to V3 and as they support "classic" cars such as mine they have designed a backwards compatible V2.5 that with a firmware and harness upgrade and transposing the V3 handles to V1 mountings can equip the older cars with fault free handles. I had all mine done for £1,400. Only time will tell but I suspect as you will find with your Plaid NO MORE FAILING HANDLES on new S and X. BTW good review and after 130k FREE miles yes the Supercharger network have been 100% perfect and is the deal breaker.

I read that you can now set fan speed or max speed in the auto mode, in the holiday update. That should help. The other thing to do is, precondition the cabin so it won’t need high speed to manage the temperature.

I really feel like Tesla is the Apple of the car world. They're great at marketing and flashy features. But at the end of the day, the decisions they make rarely benefit their actual customers. I love the physical knobs and buttons in my car, they make adjusting the A/C super easy and quick while driving. I'm glad I have a physical turn signal stock, it works 100% of the time. Now, can my car go 0-60 in 2 seconds? No. But it accelerates onto the freeway without issue and is fun to drive since it's a stick shift. Hopefully car manufacturers stop trying to integrate everything into the center screen sooner rather than later. Great video as always, MKBHD!

Here's a crazy thought: Almost everything that MKBHD talked about (aside from performance) is also true for my basic Model 3 (2024). Good AND bad. Which is crazy given that Model 3 is only a fraction of the price of the Plaid. I also hated the blinker buttons on my first day, and I still hate them today after a lot of use. However, I believe that, on the Model 3, the right blinker button is the one that seems to be more reliably accessible while driving than the left one, so basically the other way around. As far as performance goes, coming from 30 years of driving performance cars, the dual-motor model 3 feels like plenty of power to me. So I can't even imagine why anyone would want anything more. I love the regenerative braking behavior which basically means I can sometimes drive an entire trip, from start to finish, without even touching the brake pedal. It's kinda like driving cars in video games. Pretty awesome! My overall experience with an EV hasn't been as positive, nonetheless. And that's mainly due to the fact that the supercharger network where I live (East Canada) is still pretty scarce and insufficient ,to say the least. This meant wasting more time recharging and finding reliable chargers.

For me, another irritation is the side mirrors are NOT independent. So, when reversing both mirrors angle down which can be a real pain if you're backing into a parking spot and want to keep an eye on oncoming traffic from behind in your left mirror and check the curb distance in your right mirror.

Most luxury cars do this, its a setting. Not restricted to teslas only, and teslas have an advantage because you have camera views on screen anyway

Great review, Marcus is such a sweet guy. I’m glad he is doing so well. One big reason for removing the stalk I believe was the fact they were Mercedes parts. Development and tooling for things like stalks is mega expensive. Having said that model 3 stalks would have been better than those crappy buttons. Almost every Ferrari review for the last ten years has berated button indicators. I think they could have kept a normal steering wheel too. When ever tesla tries to reinvent something it tends to go tits up. Steering wheels, doors(model x rear), handles(all of them lol). I’m now fearing the cyber truck will be a night mate as they are doing it again.

Agree, manual fan speed and temperature are awkward, but the solution is to use voice commands, e.g. "Set fan speed to 6" or "Set temperature to 70 degrees". The voice commands work great.

Nice review... After test driving 2023 S (no plaid test drive), I fully agree with you on turn signal capacitive buttons (and horn, etc..), just ordered an S Plaid but with ROUND steering wheel... Because, while I can see you have *learned* to use something no one should have to as we all know how to use round steering wheels, in some of your footage 18:02 you are driving dangerously to do so (keeping hands in original position but completely crossed during exit turn... okay given you KNOW how far you have to turn but if a skid occurred or the curve sharpened your crossed arms would collide and you could go no further - not safe). Anyway I'm glad you've learned to live with the yoke and I agree it does look cooler and is fine on a straight road (if you don't have emergency maneuvers) but I only considered the Plaid now because of the availability of a round steering wheel. Also, FYI, I believe now that brake kit and software update to connect the dots is available I've read the car has done 217... Agree with you it may not matter but they promoted the car as 200 mph and it should have been capable under some scenario sooner.

I have heard people complain about the controls for the wipers and the HVAC. As a owner of a Model Y I just leave it on auto and have never felt the need to adjust the controls. I will say your complaints with the frunk, 360 camera, and lack of certain features is exactly how I felt. I ended up installing a power frunk system a few months after delivery. Definitely a solid investment, but something I felt at that price should have came with the car. Good review overall. Hopefully Tesla sees your video and works on some updates to fix those complaints.

Nice review. As a 2022 Plaid owner I have a lot of the same opinions. I too actually like the yoke and wouldn’t even select a normal wheel though it’s now an option. But I absolutely hate the buttons esp the turn signals and the horn which is ridiculously hard to use. The auto park feature is very flaky and rarely works and sometimes the console has connectivity issues. Driving it though is a pure rush and truly exhilarating though it is MASSIVELY underbraked. I wish the brake package was cheaper because you cannot help but drive spiritedly in this car.

I’m not sure if this is a new development, but it’s worth noting that you can hold down the left scroll button on the steering wheel and assign it to things such as fan speed which definitely helps no having to go into that menu as often.

Nice review. The manual frunk wouldnt bother me but I agree and would not like the yoke or its layout or the total absence of buttons. But then, what can you expect for $130000? 🙂 The front edge and mirror wraps looked sharp. Overall awesome car. Thanks.

Note that for the 3 you can get very good auto frunk opener kits so you can solve that quite easily. I opted for compressed gas pistons so the frunk on my 3 does open fully when unlocked but still requires manual closure. Made it a lot more useful and was a 10 minute install that you can do at home on your driveway with only a screwdriver and no technical experience whatsoever.

Awesome as always. Couple of Q: after 30K miles, do you still use and enjoy the Plaid performance or would you find the Long Range version sufficient? IE: does the thrill wear off to the point that the 'slower' model would be just as good. Also, how is the car during the winter in the north east? Do you put on winter tires and use it in the snow?

As someone with a long range Model S, the car is still a thrill to drive and impresses passengers without the performance trim. It just won’t blow minds. The immediate response still makes it feel like a roller coaster. This is true of all Teslas.

For those not familiar, the 'base' S (long range) is about 1 second slower to 60 than the Plaid. Which is still faster than 99% of the cars on the road.
