So in the last week I've twice encountered close proximity to these Tesla Cyber trucks while doing daily commute, and my immediate reaction was a revulsion of how aesthetically ugly they are when seeing them directly out on the road. They stand out as a weird monstrosity. Their bizarre, share-edges (dangerous in multiple ways and keeps this vehicle from being legal to sell in Europe), their stainless steel industrial banality, the harshness of its wedge shapes in opposition, all amass to a kind of a face slap in respect to their visual effect. And them my private thoughts directly shifted - upon seeing these being driven - are of how their owners are going to come to have intense buyer's remorse, while also growing weary of being a person that is seen as such a koolaide-gulping cultist as to get suckered into buying one of these. These are very clearly a vehicle design that is going down in the automobile Hall of Infamy.

Someone likely broke the door after delivery Edit: Elon confirmed on X that 15 Cybertrucks are affected by this, it is a door latch that have not been properly fastened from factory. It comes loose after driving so there would be no problem at the service center. THIS IS NOT A PANEL GAP 🤷‍♂️

Thing about electronic crap is that it fails and external cameras get occluded by crap - an inside mirror going to always work and not get covered by the crap per the external elements. Would never own a vehicle that is prone to becoming completely useless on so many avenues of vulnerability. That center screen console that controls everything is just atrocious. No more reaching by muscle memory while driving to manipulate a physical control knob or button to adjust something. And those roof post on either side of the front windshield cause outrageously dangerous blind spots. If there were any kind of safety regulation of the auto industry that really matters, this vehicle should not be allowed out on the public roads. Everything about this vehicle is just an ergonomic nightmare and really causes it to be all the more an unsafe vehicle to actually operate safely. The injuries of a pedestrian crossing at a cross walk and is not seen due to those outrageous blind spot roof post is going to get horrifically injured by the extremely sharp edges (is why is illegal to sell this vehicle in Europe). How could engineers concoct something this boneheaded - is like was designed by a kid in elementary school with no critical consideration of real world automotive design issues.

To be clear, I'm not saying manufacturers like Ford or Toyota don't have their own flaws, but they've had a lot of time and money into working out the kinks. Tesla is still new in the grand scheme of things and to that end, of course they'll still have a lot of issues to work out. I imagine their production models in 10, 20, 30 years from now will be much, much better in build quality, but my criticism is more in regards to the novelty baked into the Cyber truck, things like choosing a touch screen for every interior function. Touch screens are nice, sure, but are we only doing it because "future = touch screen", or does it actually improve the ergonomic functionality for the driver? I think not, and in fact it detracts from the driver being able to make quick adjustments without taking their eyes off the road. With analog knobs and buttons, there's a potential for building muscle memory to a point where the driver can interact with the controls without ever giving it a second thought. With a touch screen, it's not impossible but significantly less intuitive. I'm not even a car person, this was just a criticism I had of the cybertruck mostly but generally Tesla as a whole.

Part of cutting cost is not simple material cost, it's development. For example putting a rear camera feed onto the rear view mirror... If you work through every bit of custom electronics and software added, it's more engineering that adds up as you capture every bell and whistle that real modern cars have

You could easily buy a german engineered car like an Audi S8, BMW M8, a C63 AMG or a 911 GTS, and those cars are well build, great quality, but it sometimes lacks the extravagance. It lacks the x factor, the je ne sais qoui, that comes with the other "imperfect" brands. People love a good Rolex yet it is totally acceptable that it doesn't have the most precise clockwork out there. You could get a better product with a good old G-Shock, but it's not what most people look for. And Tesla has beclem such a brand that has its crazy fellowship that would defend it to death, just like Apple to name another american overhyped brand. In the end, it's just important to know what you're in for. If I buy Ducati than I will get one of the best looking, good sounding and great performing bikes in the world, that cpuld potentially break if I sneeze to hard on it. You can go with a more reliable and cheaper Honda, but where is the fun in that.

I've seen a lot of Cybertruck reviews by now and what stands out to me is that Tesla had an idea, with a specific design, which they stubbornly stuck with regardless of all the practical obstacles they encountered during development. Things we take for granted in other cars like efficiency of windshield wipers, the need for physical buttons and a freaking door handle. Or even the shape of the front. That vertical, huge flat slab of metal on the front of the Cybertruck is gonna have a lot of small dents from road pebbles.

4:07 Whoever mounted those tires didn't even try 🤣 For those who might not know, that red dot on the tire marks the heaviest spot and it is supposed to be lined up with the valve stem as that is the lightest spot on the rim. One of the bad things about the Tesla is the fact that the headlights are recessed in a groove. It looks cool. However, in heavy snow, the snow accumulates in that groove blocking the headlights. Quite deadly in a blizzard.

While the edges are dangerous, the main thing that kills pedestrians is hood geometry. Both hood height and flat vs sloping hood play a role. In this regard, Cybertruck beats all the other typical American full-size trucks. It has a lower hood height and a sloping hood, which should reduce pedestrian fatality rates in frontal collisions. I'm glad someone is calling out Tesla's cheap decisions and the fact that they underdelivered on this truck BUT still giving a solid review and credit where credit is due. Also, just a side note, I really liked the way the ad was presented in this video. I (as a cyclist) had a collision with a car last week. I can say, I am so happy about the pedestrian friendly design of these cars. I only had a few bruises where my ellbog and hip touched the vehicle, but the outer layers of the car were actually pretty soft. I think a lot of thought has gone into that. All I gotta say: I am so glad it wasn´t pointy 3 mm steel plates :D

But if it were a cybertruck, you would never have been hit in the first place. CT would've used the most advanced AI we have in FSD to detect you on time to prevent the collision. It would've also detected your oncoming cancer before it got too late using it's AI cameras and cured it for you before you had the chance to blink.
