I want a shift lever that I can shift in half a second or less, not a screen that I have to do a swipe and tap action that takes 2-3 seconds if the screen is being slow. The gentleman in the video says enough to where I can make a decision if whether or not I want to further investigate a car that I'm interested in. You CAN shift without the touchscreen. There is a small panel right at the bottom of the wireless charger trays, it has physical P R N D and hazard light buttons there. Source: My uncle owns a Model X

Wish we could still get $5000 hatchbacks in today’s market. The used car market isn’t as ridiculous as it was after Covid anymore, but it’s still hard to find a decent deal. I was looking at an old 2013 Mazda 3 hatchback and with almost 120,000 miles on it the dealership wants at least $11k. I could always take a gamble on a rebuilt title, but I heard too many horror stories on those not lasting long due to improper repairs or passable repairs to get the blue title just to sell.

@@doudymacLove lucid love EVs but they could very easily go under they do have a pretty great brand name for such an earlier up and comer so maybe worst case they get bought out by a company that normally makes combustion vehicles. What helps is Lucid really dives into the fact EV's should be luxury cars because of the already high cost you might as well build a car that is more expensive once you already hit a certain price range for quality interior and gapless panels lol. They need to keep inventory low and pretty much build to order any higher end model

Currently own a DM Model Y and just put my deposit down on an R1S. They’ve worked out (most) of the kinks it seems they put together an incredibly well thought out car. Storage is absurd, sound dampening great, build quality superb (in comparison to my Tesla) and the performance is absolutely mind boggling. I dusted my friend’s Hellcat when we did a quick side-by-side during my extended test drive. The warranty reads as being robust and general opinion locally is that their service team is on par with other manufacturer dealerships. Not great, but capable enough. Only issue is that my custom build is estimated to be around 5mo out, but you can order current config cars and get those in a week or so. Go do the demo and I think you’ll agree it’s pretty great.

Unfortunately the consumer has very little choice when a car mfg decides to change or discontinue a feature. Whatever makes them money is the main factor. A gear shifter probably cost $5 more per vehicle as opposed to integrating it into the touchscreen. But that's enough incentive for them to keep doing it.

Model X is the best daily. The automatic open and close door is so convenient, then when you push the brake to close the door, it automatically picks which gear to go into based on if there's stuff infront or behind you.

All new Rivians are NACS now. So are Ford, Volvo, Lucid, GM and many others. Tesla gave up their last proprietary asset. They’re like an airline selling off their best routes before they go under.

Everyone LOVES touch screens. Reaching for a stick and instinctively moving it from D to R and back without taking your eyes off the road was lame. Steering should be touch controlled with a tiny slider to go left or right - the only feedback I need is a perfectly smooth screen under my finger and visual confirmation that I touched the right place.

I used to really love tesla, and dont get me wrong i def still like them. But w all the new ev expansions ive slowly seen the introduction of many evs that have much more character to them. I think teslas are a bit cookie cutter, but its intentional and the focus ofc isnt customizing or expressiveness. They still have the best software of any EV, HANDS DOWN its not even close, and software is probably single most important component of an ev. I would choose the rivian because the interior looks more lively and unique
