I kinda think that the next big impact event will be an anounced formal deal with one or more OEMs around autonomy and the package of cameras and other required ancilliaries. I think this will drive us further ahead and provide a step change in valuation of the company. This pod as good as it hinted around this. Without being financial advice! I don't think we should discount the potential of the Ford Skunkworks being a thing that is being kept on the downlow. Maybe we will get a formal dropping of the deal as a low key, oh by the way... Not unless they drastically reduce the cost of vehicles. Teslas will be able to give Robotaxi rides for well below a dollar a mile, but with the cost of their vehicles being much higher, Waymo won't even come close to that. I can’t believe that most of the Tesla KZbinrs and Tesla community don’t really understand technology and the paradigm shift Tesla has caused. We all know that Tesla is a tech company so why do we continue to be so naive to think, assume, or expect legacy automakers to become tech companies. Nokia, Blackberry, Motorola and Palm couldn’t do it when the cellphone was supplanted by the smartphone - using Apple’s iOS smartphone operating system or Google’s Android smartphone operating system. Two tech companies started the smartphone industry, not the legacy cellphone companies. People that think legacy automakers can become tech companies must think any company can become a tech company. Do you assume your doctor, lawyer, barber, auto mechanic, financial adviser or oil drilling can transform into a software engineer? Why would you assume legacy automakers can become something they are not and never will be. It’s like expecting an elephant to change its DNA and run like a cheetah to avoid extinction by poachers! Legacy automakers lack the DNA to become tech companies, so they are doomed to extinction. We are fooled because when we think about Tesla’s tech software advantage, we know that software is ubiquitous. It is everywhere; therefore, we assume it should be relatively easy for the legacy automakers to acquire some software tech to catch up to Tesla. We use the term “computer on wheels” or “software enabled car”, but what we are missing is that any computer is worthless without an operating system. Desktops and laptops have Windows and MacOS, smartphones (which are pocket computers) have Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android. Tesla hasn’t given a name to their EV operating system yet (i.e. Tesla EV Operating System or tevOS) therefore people aren’t aware of this core distinction between a tech company and a tech company that can develop a much more sophisticated, mission critical EV computer operating system software. There are thousands of software companies developing all kinds of software but there are only three major companies that write desktop/laptop operating system software (Microsoft and Apple) or smartphone operating system software (Apple and Google). How can anyone expect any of these legacy automakers to become a premier tech company with the expertise to develop a mission critical EV operating system because unlike a laptop or smartphone that you can “reboot” if it freezes, an EV operating system crash can cause loss of life in a critical car accidents.

FSD doesn't even seem to be able to handle the Las Vegas loop, a closed system, not affected by weather, no traffic, no construction, no pedestrians as well as being owned and operated by a Musk company. As public transport systems go it is a complete and utter joke, a small tube with no ventilation or emergency exits. Once the autonomous technology is sorted, and that will have to include the ability to use reverse a feature that is always coming soon, after which there is then the whole infrastructure support and legislative process to address, none of which Tesla appear to have started doing. Tesla announce that FSD is going to be released in Europe and China, subject to regulatory approval, well even McDonalds can come out with that statement and they don't even have a self driving system. If smart summon is the closest that Tesla have currently got to autonomous system, that is something that is only meant to be used in private carparks and driveways, within 6m of the summoner and with the vehicle only traveling 20m. But don't let that small print get in the way of a good bit of marketing, Tesla launch it and allow people the impression that now people can come out of the shopping mall, find it raining and have their car come to them. In October the question is how underwhelming is the Robotaxi launch going to be? As impressive as the Tesla robot arriving at the Chinese robotics expo that stood still in a glass case doing nothing while surrounded by other robots that actually did robot things? When an autonomous license to operate is granted, does anyone think that tesla will be granted to operate nationwide? If Tesla shareholders are investing in Tesla because they think autonomous driving is a winner take all opportunity, they need to perhaps consider if even if that is true, Tesla may not be the winner.

@@Gunter_Custom I appreciate that Tesla stock has for many people proved to be very profitable and there are people like Cathie Wood who have hit the mother load and developed a reputation as a smart investor on the back of Tesla. But was she lucky, or smart? Tesla now performs more as a meme stock with the business metrics to justify its 60 times earnings valuation fading fast and so the likes of Musk and Wood have to rely on future earning forecast to justify the current valuation and increase the price further. I don't have any problem with people investing in Tesla. I just have a problem with the BS that tries to claim that FSD is better than it is, that Tesla are going to dominate in robotics and that Dojo is going to be able to match Nvidia. Maybe it is all true, and they are, but evidence would suggest otherwise. If you are invested in Tesla and want to remain so, then it is in your interest to promote the BS to protect your position and you also need new investors to buy into your vision. I get that, but maybe some new investors need to think hard on the challenges that Tesla now face. You earned 12x, but someone who invested in 2021 will have lost 47% now so as the cliche goes, past performance is no guarantee of future results. There are a few people like yourself who have made a healthy profit who now feel the time is right to cash in, maybe they are the smart ones, or maybe it is you.

Trickle currents all day long and all night long means the grid central generation electricity is a dead duck. When Australia's 20million vehicles are BVs, battery vehicles, with an oversized battery and parked 23hrs every day then 4 or 5 times daily Fossil fueled electricity generation can be in storage. But rooftop PV electricity straight into BV storage 5hrs every day as the grid can only handle lower hourly kWh over 24hrs. V2G BVs with selfparking selfplug-in feature and the 'long drive battery' and trickle feed currents 23hrs every day is the part of the grid we all need. Warming latitudes from CO2 emissions worldwide will mean Australia will be the first country to burn. Intense flooding rains will wash away the top soils and add to poor soil conditions. Trickle feeding this concept for public discussion is possible because people's interest are different to vested interests dominating public mass media. Vested interests are after public money to survive. Central generator promoters are dangerous. Grid owners are scared. We need the national electrical grid for our electric future and it needs cashflow. More BVs is the most economical high value future for the world, and the national electrical grid with more heavy industrial customers.

@@magic_fruit_bat5003 That’s not particularly exciting, considering it’s at HALF the value it was just under THREE YEARS AGO! I’m glad I was fooled into investing in a so-called technology company that was actually a right wing false-conspiracy theory propaganda-promoting oligarch’s piggy bank.

The problem is legacy internal combustion engine automakers are competing with an AI/robotics/software corporation. It’s just like if these legacy automakers are competing with Google or Apple for car manufacturing and Google and Apple stuffed their vehicles with so much advanced software and tech not just gimmick tech. Legacy automakers are cooked, they just don’t know it yet

I'm sure they do, they're just making as many ICE cars as they can before the CEOs take the golden parachute.

Yet Google & Apple & Dyson all gave up as too hard, too risky. OTOH, Xiaomi, BYD, Huawei, are giving it a red hot go.

@@iandavies4853 apple was in the initial stages of Apple Car but had to suspend it because they’d been left behind by Google and OpenAI with AI. To be honest, they should’ve shelved the silly Vision Pro until they could further miniaturize the tech so it’s something that can be used by everyone even outside. They shouldn’t have postponed Apple Car either because they could’ve still been catching up with AI if they fielded a working vehicle just as Tesla is doing now as they incorporate AI to their vehicles which is what they’re going to do soon with household and industrial robotics. So while Google and OpenAI are leaps ahead in LLMs, Tesla will be leaps ahead in applied AI where AI is used in full self driving and for household and industrial robotics to function properly, but soon Grok will catch up as they incorporate that into Tesla vehicles as a companion or assistant (be able to access it as a premium feature), much like Kitt’s purpose in Knight Rider.

@@h-e-acc Tesla has all the business & technology components required in-house. Apple just has software expertise, customer base, it was a steep hill to climb into car manufacturing. Apple even contract manufactures their phones. But yes, Tesla now has pole position in race to robots as well. It’s like Elon knew what he was doing a decade or two ago. Talk about luck!

For FSD to be good enough: In a lifetime: 800 rides per person per year x 100 years @= 80,000 rides per person Therefore for FSD to be good enough it can only have 1 intervention per 80k rides. 😅😅😅😅😅

I’ve made way more mistakes than that! Need to define "intervention". But for serious safety critical / death, I believe the target is way higher, like >10 million miles. (?)
