Most of the issues lie with our politicians who seem to take far too long to give us chance to adopt these new technologies. You have done a great roundup of what was shown to us. I think this was a missed opportunity by Elon and the team. They should have had Optimus robots snapping together models of the robotaxi on a small assembly line. This would have shown the usefulness and utility of the robot. One day the robots will be in our homes, but for now their main use will be by small manufacturers. Tesla could sell these models on their web site. They could tell people that they were Robotaxis put together by robots.

Then they do not have the mental capacity to have a clue about FSD. They are completely lost and do not have an attention span long enough to start the conversation about Robo Taxi. I don't get anywhere near the topics of RoboTaxi, Optimus, data centers or the integration with Grok. Most are stuck on "Elon Bad" or "EV Bad." Why take your pet to the vet's for a routine shot or check-up? Put Fido or Shadow in a "CC-Rider" and it'll bring them straight to the vet's office! The clinic's Opti-valet / vet's assistant will take the animal inside, and the pet *won't* freak out because the "valet" will be the same as the Opti-Maid at home! (I predict the name "Jeeves" will become extremely popular amongst Optimuses...Optimii?!?) Speaking of which, Optimus is a bargain if you look at it as: - a full-time live-in maid, - a full-time live-in nanny, - a full-time live-in homework assistant, - a full-time live-in geriatric care attendant, - a full-time live-in ambulatory surveillance system, with in-built coms to call emergency services, [the N.R.A. model will carry guns: ;-)> ] - a full-time live-in...well, you should get it by now. Add up the cost of all those services / tasks and more, a *true* bargain, IMHO.

I think Tesla is choosing to sell the Robo taxi to individuals in the early days because Tesla doesn’t have fleet management set up, allowing people to buy them. They can deal with the charging and the cleaning of them and you automatically can spread that around to the entire country, whereas Tesla will probably have to go city by city building the infrastructure to charge and clean them
@X5493-c7pАй бұрын
Good point especially as these vehicles will need a wireless charging station to recharge this will be great for Tesla customers that already have solar and PowerWalls they’ll be able to charge them really cheaply and get a break even ROI a lot faster than those that don’t
@mattsparks5957Ай бұрын
I think it needs a charging port nacs. I really could not understand why it cannot be charged with a Tesla charger/super charger. If I owned a few, I could schedule an appointment to meet them at a Tesla Supercharger, plug them in, clean them up and turn them loose in 30 min.
@edwardhackett-jones8126Ай бұрын
Yes. But two additional factors occur to me: First; these are going to cost Tesla something like $20k+ per unit to make. If they decided to retain them all, that’s one hell of a lot of capital to populate the world with robocabs. Secondly; Tesla will need to avoid being branded as a monopoly. I imagine a network of owner operated taxis working alongside the Tesla fleet will be considered less monopolistic, even if they’re still all using the same systems to operate.
@MiaSoreryOFАй бұрын
@@edwardhackett-jones8126 they could populate them by taking a loan and not necessarily using capital but Tesla also getting BILLIONS per year from other manufacturers by selling them EV tax credits so they literally could build all the robotaxi for free lol. & Tesla is obviously going to license the tech to other manufacturers if say 5-10 other car companies all have Tesla chips and software and Tesla is raking profit from all of it it’s not a monopoly if those other manufacturers are getting some revenue with the tech too

@BruhZerkАй бұрын
@@TeslaJigsaw This was a HIGHLY controlled situation, they've have been training to drive in that circle for well over a month. Once we see it in the real world maybe, but they really needed to prove they're close to FSD and they straight up failed at that. Also, the Robovan is hideous, lacking windows, lacking ground clearance, it's like they threw everything we learned about transportation over the past century out the window. Also, we can all agree the Optimus bots looked entirely useless at that party, and the camera crew was clearly working overtime to try to hide how jank they really are. I want them to be successful, but I also need to be able to stay objective and this just wasn't a great look for anything besides the Cybercab. Even then they should have showcased the interior, maybe presented a model that has a steering wheel and pedals so it can be sold to consumers as an affordable alternative, etc. They just left so much on the table.

Nonsense. You revel in negativity, don’t you! The event did what TESLA intended it to, it showed off the Cybercab, it demonstrated autonomy in an enclosed environment, it showed their intentions for supplying suitable vehicles for different numbers of passengers, and the potential for use as an urban delivery/cargo vehicle, as well as the physical capability of the Optimus robot, albeit Tele-operated still. The problem was that Wall St W⚓️s convinced themselves that Tesla would also reveal other products. Musk has been extremely clear on this - he prefers to give new products their own events. Additionally, only a simpleton would have thought that they would reveal a new product (eg the $25k car) in advance of production starting. They absolutely cannot allow a new product to Osbourne the 3 or Y until they’ve prepared production and supply chain accordingly Given that we’ve yet to see concrete evidence of any new lines, or any new parts orders, it was stupid to expect such announcements. The other complaint of the Wall Street Einsteins was the lack of firm numbers and dates. Ok, I can sympathise with that to some extent. But on past experience, why did they expect Tesla to reveal that kind of info? Tesla generally doesn’t give that info until the last minute - I imagine because they just don’t know for sure. They’ve got their internal modelling, and they’re probably right, but no need to make public statements too early.
