Does the new yoke hide the stalks more than the old yoke? It’s hard to tell in the video if the newer style is wider and hides the stalks from the driver seat view.
@northerntesla11 ай бұрын
It’s about the same. You see the stalks from above not from the sides

Thank you so much for the video. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm on the edge on deciding to get a yoke or not. But this video explains a lot of my concerns.

What did you decide on and what were your concerns?

Is this new style wider than the older version? Does it hit your thighs when making turns? Which version provides more comfort and ergonomic?
@northerntesla Жыл бұрын
They are about the same width. It’s happened once or twice that it hit my thigh but that’s if I happen to have my knees up and obviously depending how tall you are. I found the first version a little more comfortable cause it’s more rounded but the new one feels ergonomically better to rest your hand on if that makes sense. They both feel the same and I would go with which look you like best.

Love it! This way you can see the screen in front of you better.

I won’t go back to a round wheel

Love the video thank you.. I am expecting my Yoke this week from Hansshow. I have seen mixed reviews of needing to power down the screen, disconnect the 12v and main battery. I guess powering down the screen is enough? Did you receive any error codes? Also how was the Hanshow wiring? Did you have to swap over any of the guts besides the control module?
@northerntesla11 ай бұрын
Awesome! Hansshow and Tesla tech told me screen is fine. No error codes on either of my yokes. My first one I had to swap out some trim pieces. But if you’re getting the version in this video, nothing other than control module.

Great Video. If I don’t want the heated function, can I skip replacement of lower module? Will the side buttons still work?
@northerntesla Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure. Why don’t you want the heated function?
@gaurav5806406 Жыл бұрын
I’d like to keep the OEM steering as-is so I can easily swap it out when going for Tesla service or when I feel like.

Also I rarely use heated steering function anyway

Thanks did you order a yoke?

Don't you need to unplug the 12v first?
@northerntesla Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t hurt. But I’ve been told powering off car from main screen is sufficient.

Where is the air bag?
@northerntesla8 ай бұрын
The T logo is the airbag. You swap it from the original wheel

Hey! I have been interested in doing the steering yoke for a while now. I would purchase a Hannshow display with the yoke. However, I am mainly concerned about the airbag functionality. I previously read that the airbag depends on the top portion of the steering wheel to deploy properly and could fold over with the steering yoke. As far as I'm aware, the steering wheel and yoke on the Model S/X use different airbags. Would you be able to clarify on this? Thanks in advance!

How’s the heated function? Does it do the lower part of the yoke? Also how about the lights next to the rollers. Do they light up?
@northerntesla Жыл бұрын
Heating is great throughout the yoke. And the lights do turn on.

I wouldn't hand tighten a steering wheel There's a reason it has so much torque. Most autos part stores will loan you a torque wrench if you don't have one.
