What I love about Ashe is, he's a tad bit like Dan Tompkins, but he doesn't try to imitate his work in TesseracT. Such a fresh TesseracT sound.

I believe Amos Williams (the bassist) is now doing their screams, at least live. In the studio recording of them playing Concealing Fate he was doing them instead of Dan.

LOL ARE YOU KIDDING? Listen to Eden by Tesseract, the screams ENHANCED that song. Imagine the song without screaming. Screaming is like the finishing touches of a song. You dont have to scream 24/7, but at least put it in the background or mix it in with clean vocals. It really defines a metal band aside the instrumentals.

Well many modern prog bands tend to play in atypical time signatures, many of which deviate significantly from the simple arithmetic of 3/4 and 4/4. I guess playing about with more complex, eccentric geometrical shapes symbolizes that visually. And anyway, Tesseract are named after a pretty fucking inconceivable shape, meaning they're allowed to go by all of that! (and the fact that their music is also inconceivably good)

Ashe has been quoted saying that he doesn't know how to scream and will never do it. Also that there will be no screaming or growls on this album. Personally Im going to miss the edge but this might be what the need to bring it to the next level.

It never changes meter, so I don't know to what he is referring. The whole song is based on the guitars playing syncopated rhythms in 4/4, while the steady pulse that gets moved to various cymbals throughout the song implies a 3 over 4 polyrhythm. My best guess is he's referring to the little cymbal fill thing Jay does right at 0:18 where he stops pulsing the 3 feel for part of a measure and instead plays eighth notes in the 4 feel.

Most of that sounds right to me, I think there's a couple words off though. "I can't continue down this road" and "I can feel the pressure getting steeper with every life lost" are more accurate I think. Everything else sounds right, just a couple minor discrepancies. Pretty great though.

He does scream in the live songs and does pretty well too (I'd say better than Elliot), but I like that this album is going to be all clean vocals myself. I think it's more balanced, especially when they layer the guitar parts.

Gotta say I wasn't a HUGE fan of their older stuff, I honestly liked the april bass video better than most of the music, but they did have a few tight songs with screaming. However I think this vocal style will push this band way further, I just wish he had more power and could sound more full in lower octaves. REGARDLESS this is a good listen and doesn't bore through the song. Go Tesseract.
