As a drummer, Jay's hi-hat in this song (1:48 onward) is literally what got me hooked on this band from the moment I heard the album. The way these guys' seamlessly alternate between rhythms like this-and songs like Retrospect, Exile, and Juno-is so satisfying. For non-drummers: try tapping your foot along with his hi-hat the whole song. When they do their polyrhythmic magic at 2:38 and 4:18, you'll poop your britches.

DUDE same! I play drums and that completely had me hooked on them, and yeah it completely throws you off when you try to tap your foot along to it. Still struggle with it years later lol

I watched someone live streaming Guitar Hero the other day and he was like "how do I headbang to this?" when playing a Veil of Maya song - I said play a Tesseract song and try and headbang! I usually do it in time with the cymbal hits but it's so difficult when Jay does his thing with polyrhythms!

I've always had a hard time saying what band was my absolute favorite. I've just came to the conclusion that tesseract is indeed my favorite band. I still remember my buddy telling me about them a month or so before "one" came out. Concealing fate still to this day blows my mind. One of the most original, and best pieces of music ever created. I've absolutely loved everything you guys have put out, even without dan. I can't really say that about any other band. ❤❤ much love for you guys.

Yes I remember when this album came out, It was just so epic. Im glad Dan came back in the end, although the contribution by Ashe in Altered State is just phenomenal too. Those screams made One the incredible album it is.

The irony of this amazing, profound/deep song is that I had a sudden realisation even before this new version was released & one it fits perfectly with these sensitive times IE the Covid, I quote from the lyrics "oh my god so many ppl leaving me behind" (that part & the melancholy of it struck lilt a chord to me) U can tell the pain & sadness in the vocals it's what we all have experienced recently, so without even knowing Tesseract had written a song back then for the future, which is now our present this is just my view, my respects & admiration to Tesseract who have given me so much magic, guidance & strength all these years, much love (may they keep going, evolving within guiding lights, Tesseract never give up delivering the message of hope to us cos believe or not it's a form of healing & strength we all need :)

This is cool, during lockdown, I've been jamming loads of Tesseract but I recently made a playlist with One, Altered State, Polaris/Errai and Sonder - I didn't get into these guys until just after Altered State, when Dan re-joined and they're now a favourite band of mine! I've been absolutely LOVING One, so it's awesome to see you guys still rocking this! Such an amazing album, remastering or re-recording it with Dan's vocals as of today would be awesome 😁
