How does one simply write such an unbelievable bass line? Where in the creative process does writing bass come in for TesseracT? Eg do you work guitar down or bass up if that makes sense? Awesome work on Sonder, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the album ( when I say thoroughly I mean at this point I could probably learn all the parts from memory). Cheers from Australia 😁

When tuning drop A, would you use a regular 5 string set with saddle higher, or a larger string? (Guitar player new to bass asking) If so, what gauge for 34" scale?
@tarkenton3895
@tarkenton3895 5 жыл бұрын
Amos uses 35' scale basses I think, but if you're using a regular 34' scale you'd ideally want a beefier low string to start off and then set intonation/string height based off of that I like using really beefy lows if I'm going to A or as far as F# it since you're only looking for A, experiment anywhere from .140 to .145

Check out his description, the RME does most of the processing which is then edited in Pro Tools.
@warrenoids
@warrenoids 10 ай бұрын
The RME has no production capabilities. The tone generated is mostly through the Darkglasses, yes, but I'd wager that there are some post processing happening within Pro Tools after it's being recorded. To answer the original question, yes you'll get very close with both Darkglass pedals.

@TheComodous
@TheComodous 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Funkaforfan, I'm not using the nail at all in the upstroke, it's more the side of the thumb at the hight of the knuckle that's hitting and plucking it. If you do it this way you get a more consistent sound between the down and up stroke (the nail sounds different) To do this the trick is the have the palm of your hand as close to the strings as possible. Then your thumb is parallel to your strings and not digging underneath. This way the palm is also in the perfect place to mute the strings you don't want to hear. At least, this is what works for me. Hope this helps.

@@funkaforfan it actually is the nail that gives it the click. I have my 6 string bass in my hands and plugged into my ashdown 115. It really is the nail that gives it the colour you hear in this song. The right technique is to do it until it doesn't hurt. I know because slap used to hurt me but now I even slap in walls to develop callosity ;)
