I have almost this exact vehicle. 50,000 miles, a few crazy logging trails that required 4x4 capability, a couple of roadtrips, and moving from one apartment to another... my 2014 4x4 Jeep Patriot continues to blow me away. Great vehicle.

Pick up a 4x4 sport, 2.4 and 5M. Took it off roading near Mt. Reba in Northern California. I was amazed at it's capabilities. It doesn't have low lock but with trac control on and in 1st gear it crawled out of some serious sand pits and mud. I would've swore as it didn't have low lock it would get stuck. That 2.4 however with the 5M has some decent torque 165lbft. I just put it in first and let the clutch out. It just idled itself out of a axle deep sand pit. All I had to do is steer. Couldn't even hear the engine running and I thought for sure it would bog but it kept running. Amazing.

I love my Pat. It’s much more capable than most think. I’ve been in some pretty hairy situations and it shined. Best subcomp suv I’ve had. Gotta do something about the cvt though lol. I’ve upgraded the audio package myself (along with larger/better rubber/etc), and she’s pretty indestructible.

I own a 2016 Jeep Patriot Sport SE 4x4 with the 2.4 with 6spd auto and it is a great setup. I dtove my friends 2008 Jeep Compass and they are almost completely different. The Compass felt sluggish and heavy. Average mpg is 22.8 with a lot of highway driving. It does great in the snow! It's a simple suv, but it's a great bargain

My 2016 gets 25 MPG consistently. I've put nearly 12k on it since Dec. I Love this vehicle! (I have the 2.4 L engine). I paid 22,700 out the door. The only thing I had to get used to, was a much smaller cargo area. My 2004 Escape was way bigger.
@joesmith389
@joesmith389 6 жыл бұрын
David Cox II I second that. My 2010 escape had more cargo than my 2012 Pat. Engineering and angles I guess. Paid 15k for my 2012 Pat because it was mis-listed online. Typo. I have the 2.4 4x4 latitude. Was supposed to be $24.5k so they had to sell it to me for $15k lol. Walked outta that dealership with a big grin on my face.

I have a ‘15 Patriot Latitude and absolutely love it. It’s a shame FCA discontinued this model from their lineup when it actually sold well. Year over year sales were moving up. Really like the no gimmick interior, it really gets the job done.

Great review,and I agree with pretty much everything in this review!!! I hope they don't change the rugged style,and make the Patriot look like everything else out there,all in the name of being supposedly stylish...meaning...ugly egg shaped,everyone and their brother styling!! Love my tough looking little 2014 Jeep Patriot North!!!

I am stuck between a Jeep Patriot Sport with 4WD, added features and possibly trail rated, and a Mazda 3 Hatchback. TestDrivenTV have you driven the Mazda 3? What do you think? I like the patriot to do all of the things I enjoy, and I live in Montana--but I might be moving to CA and the gas mileage is hard to argue with.

I read they also replaced the shocks and springs with higher grade ones and it got an upgraded rear sway bar some the 2011.This hopefully fixes the brutal suspensions issues of these from 07-10

It would defeat the purpose, but i wish they would lengthen the patriot a little bit and slide a 6 cylinder in there.
@TWEEKXXROCK
@TWEEKXXROCK 9 жыл бұрын
the point of my statement being that jeep needs a cheep mid sized SUV with a 6 cylinder engine that isn't 30-40 grand *cough jeep grand cherokee/wrangler/cherokee trail hawk cough* and that you can thrash around on a trail while having the capability of seating 4-5 passengers.

That bump under the Steering wheel was a bad idea. And the touchscreen should’ve been made a lot better then what they made it to be.

I'm really thinking about getting one of these used. Because you're obviously in AZ around the Superstitions and the Apache Trail (obvious to me as I live in Tempe), what I'd love to know is how would it handle Fish Creek Hill, and that crazy road to Apache Lake overall?
@TestDrivenTV

None of that route is any more challenging that what you saw in our video. Though not shown here we have driven a number of these down that road and they do well.

Compared to the Renegade which is more or less a Fiat 500 slightly modified or the new Compass - both of which have such non-needed items as "stop-start" crap - will take the older Patriots/Compass with either a 5 peed manual or this automatic but no way on the CVT. For the money - pretty hard to beat... The 2.4s' might be a bit noisy as has been said many times but they are tough reliable engines and with proper care/maintenance can go hundred of thousands miles with little to no problems.

Looks like 2015 models are on the way, but the site shows a ride called the "Renegade" based off the fiat 500L is my guess. It looks like Jeep ate a few meat balls!! lol I love it!! but after owing a 2007 compass I will never ever ever! never! but a first year build again...or a second year build, maybe not even 3rd year. You know what I'm saying...

These things are OK and that's it... I've had 3 in my fleet... ball joints and tie rod ends wear out every 25-30K or so... whole suspension get sloppy, loose, creaky and crappy after just a few years. Very hard to work on as everything is crammed into the engine bay which is quite small. They are reliable but I don't like driving them-- makes a Toyota Corolla feel like a Mercedes Benz. CVT tranny is hideous, haven't had one blow but 2 are howling at highs speeds. The new 6 speed must be an improvement but it's a Hyundai unit and I'm not sure how long it would last or what it would cost to replace...

Had a patriot from 2011 to 2017. The suspension on theses car is shit. Had to replace it at 40000km and 60000km. Got rid of the car at 80000km because the transmission broke.
