I can't imagine a better bike than this. The engine is bulletproof and will go forever. The single-sided swingarm is pretty cool too. You should have shown more of what the electronics can do, an inside view of the bags, and some of the more detailed features. One hell of a bike.

You might want to review that BMW K1600b Bagger model to compare to the Gold Wing Bagger model. The redesign of the Gold Wing occurred in 2018. I’ve owned the BMW motorcycles from F800GS to the R1200GSA to the R1250RT. Goldwing is the motorbike I never considered, too ugly and heavy, ( speaking about the older models ), until I saw and test rode one just like this one. Well my friends I was hooked. I swapped immediately for the R1250RT. It’s got superior handling and even though it is heavier, it feels lighter than the BMW, due to its low CG. DCT works like a dream, comfort excellent although BMW was excellent too. Ergonomics perfect, infotainment good although not perfect. I have driven a BMW K1600 bagger, but the goldwing still is my favorite. Fantastic machine

A CVO is the luxury model, functionally it really isn't that different than the standard models, it has a slightly, and I do mean slightly more powerful engine, but everything else is paint and polish. The primary reason it exists is prestige and to have a different model for resale value. Adding all the luxury parts to a standard bike will get you nothing on resale, where as CVOs hold value better. Comparing the CVO to anything is foolish, you would compare the Road Glide, Road Glide Special, and Road Glide limited (with the RDRS option) to the different Gold wing models for apples to apples comparisons.

I really wanted to like the 2020 Goldwing DCT model but at 5 ft 11inches tall, and a leg length of 34 inches, I could only get comfortable for a really short distance. The handlebar and footpeg position had my foot arches cramping after only 43 miles. The seat on it was VERY hard too. Loved riding this bike in the sport mode. The suspension really soaked up the bumps. Acceleration from a stop was outstanding. Riding this large of a bike felt like I riding a much lighter bike. But, the look, exhaust sound, fit and finish, really plush stock] seat, foot position, and comfort level on my 2019 Road Glide Ultra I prefer much better.

Something to watch out for: I hit a truck from a standstill last week. Stopped and flipped my helmet up, feet down, stretched, put my hands down and launched into this guy's bumper in spite of the front wheel being locked up. Next time you're on your bike, look at how much you have to turn the throttle to rev the engine (put it in neutral first!). Now imagine you graze the throttle accidentally, what do you do when the bike automatically moves forward? You grab the front brake for all you're worth of course. Now the throttle is locked partly open 'cause it's how you're holding the brake lever. Honda if you read this you need an option to toggle cutting out the engine if the front brake is locked and the bike's not moving or at least put some play in the throttle before it engages. If you have a DCT I figure your options are: - magically realize what's happening and stop breaking when your bike starts moving unexpectedly. - try to bring the rear brake into play, maybe stall the engine? - drop the bike. (really might be best option) Regardless, just be SUPER careful around that throttle. This control design makes sense with a clutch, but it's downright dangerous in its current implementation.

Only DCT models need a forward walk assist to facilitate slow forward motion.

Who cares about the "brand image" crap. I'm not in high school anymore. Those that cared if I wore Guess/Girbaud/Z. Cavarichi/Dr. Martens/Jimmy Z/Vans/Stussy/Iron Maiden or The Cure t shirts/ shopped at The Gap or the local skate shop...have no influence in my life anymore HAHA. I'd buy a Honda any day over ANY Harley. Watch the video on here by FortNine about the demise of Harley. They made a huge stink about Honda way back when Honda was only making mopeds. Now, it's come back to bite them in a big way.

For a bagger it's one very very sweet looking motorcycle it's more reliable than a soup spoon and the only thing easier to rack up major miles on would be the space shuttle one hell of a job Honda what else is new

The 2020 base version you tested is the only GW without reverse.

Thanks for clarifying that for me! I was under the impression all the models have it, but I guess that's a money maker they can charge more for. Thanks for watching!

Steve Ripper in fact I’m not sure on the manual version you show here but I have the DCT version of this same bike and does have a reverse / slow walk mode ( forward and reverse)

Makes me wish I had held off getting my Road King last year. Three questions. 1. Doing 100 mph in 4th gear?? How many gears did this bike have? 2. Did this bike have the DCT transmission? 3. Is the optional tour pack quick release?
@MOTOBLADE4 жыл бұрын
6 gears, this model was not the DCT, but they do have a DCT version, and I am not sure about the tour pack being quick release. I asked at the dealership and they said they could install it for me. Given the right tools and time I can install anything on a bike, but it sounded like it may not be a "quick release" job. Again, not 100% sure on that. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

Pretty amazing. The six cylinder engine sound makes me feel sick with wanting it. OP or anyone else got comments on the manual gearbox have read they are clunky into first such that a lot of people say they start off in 2nd? Or is that just earlier models ?

Felt good in first. I think that issue may have been relegated to the early 2000 models.

My BMW K1200LT (1200cc) has a shaft drive. My Triumph Rocket III (2300cc) also had a shaft drive. They are common for high powered bikes. Honda is the king of highway bikes, followed by BMW and others.

That’s a gorgeous bike. I test rode the ‘19 and it felt a bit light. I ride Harleys so am used to a heavier albeit is slower beast. Is it just me or when you look at the bike sitting in the riders seat, the instrument console, windshield, and rear mirrors you see the outline of a “goat...!”?

Moto guzzi, yamaha, kawasaki, bmw, triumph, all have shaft driven models. Base model does not have reverse, goldwing tour has larger windshield, centerstand, trunk, reverse , electronic suspension adjustment, air bag model is all bells and whistle with fog lights, apple connection and navigation, dct runs about 1200 to 1500 more, dual clutch transmission which is automatic, guys do your research when your in the public eye!

Have watched every review I can find for the Honda 2018+ Goldwing and the BMW K1600. While I appreciate your review, I don’t feel you had done your homework before filming. Know the features and specs and don’t make unfounded claims. Eyes rolled at shaft drive comment and electric windscreen comment. You really should test ride a BMW K1600 so you can do a valid comparison. I suspect your eyes will bug out of your head when you accelerate on the BMW K1600 and check the handling through some twisties.

Never saw BMW's around where I used to live. But since I've moved to Vermont I have seen more of them. They were on my list, as I've never ridden one - then the pandemic hit and a lot of dealerships won't do test rides right now. Thanks for watching!
