TEST ROUTE #1 Glendale DMV 2022-2023 - Behind The Wheel Driver's License Tip

We successfully completed behind the wheel driving test in Glendale California and want to share 3 main routes and some tips.

Thank you so much. I’ve passed because of your videos with routes! My advices: 1. Always look over your shoulders when you changing lines and turn with crossing a bike line 2. Don’t do right turn on red (you can stay and wait green it’s not a mistake) 3. Always give full right the way to oncoming traffic when you need turn on intersections Good luck! P.S. my examiner told me after test that I have to be quicker, I said no thank you lol

Hi , I though you could turn on red on right is it when is oncoming traffic?

@@karengalvan8699 you can but if you make a mistake and go too early with an oncoming car you can get failed for it as opposed to just waiting for a green and theres nothing to worry about

@@zenasmakka I didn't pass because i failed to check behind me before merging into a bike lane (there were cars parked there so I didn't even think to, but you have to be on top of everything for the test!). And I didn't correct myself after making a left turn into the wrong lane because i panicked 🥲 2 critical errors that were just little stupid mistakes that i could have easily avoided. Barely any minor errors either. My only advice is to not let nerves get the best of you and be extra vigilant about traffic checks, over the shoulder checks, all that stuff even if it isn't strictly necessary because the instructor is looking for it every single time regardless. My retest is this coming Monday. Best of luck to you!

You can drive past the Center Lane Left Turn (TWLT) when it’s clear. I did use it yesterday. No cars coming on my left, but there’s one coming from my right. First, I drove to the center lane, I stopped inside, signal to the right, let the car passed to my right, then merged to the right lane. All good! Was able to use the center lane properly. I passed my driving test. Hope this helps.

I'm curious about the left turn onto Glenoaks Blvd at about 8:35. The car goes out into the intersection before the through traffic has passed. Shouldn't you wait behind the crosswalk until the through traffic has crossed? Or is that not the rule? If you go out into the intersection before the through traffic has passed you run the risk of not being able to make the left until after the light has turned red. That means you could either end up in the middle of the intersection or in the middle of the cross walk while the light is red. I know going out into the intersection (and even making lefts as the light turns red) is common practice in LA, but are you allowed to do that on a driving test? You're right. This is quite an interesting situation. When you need to turn left and the green traffic light turns on, then you can go to 1/3 of the road and wait until the oncoming traffic completes the movement. After that, turn to the left without disturbing anyone. If the red light of the traffic light turns on while you are at the intersection and the oncoming traffic stops, you must complete the left turn so as not to obstruct the movement of other cars. I'll tell you even more. So can do the first 2 cars that turn to the left. The third car has to wait for the next 2 cars to complete the left turn. That's what the teachers we studied with said. And it is practiced on the exam because it is correct. If everyone waited at the stop line until the oncoming traffic passes and then turned to the left, then I think there would be very big traffic.

At 8:47 when ur making the left turn onto Glenoaks weren’t you supposed to land on the left lane not the middle? I’m about to take my behind the wheel test in little over a week🥹 I pray I pass. Thabk you for your question. Very good question. Actually in this situation you can turn on the middle or in the left line. We turned on the middle because we know that we’ll drive to DMV. But if you’re not sure you can turn to the left line and then if necessary take right line using turn signal. I wish you success and share your experience after exam.

If there stoplight is not working, treat as Yield or Stop: Since the left arrow isn’t working and your road ends, treat the situation as if there’s a yield or stop sign, even if there isn’t an actual stop sign. Reduce Speed and Prepare to Stop: Slow down as you approach the intersection, preparing to stop if necessary. Check for Right-of-Way: Look for oncoming traffic from both directions on the larger road. You must give way to vehicles on that road because they have the right-of-way. Watch for Pedestrians and Bikers: Be mindful of pedestrians and bikers who might be crossing. Turn When Safe: Only proceed with your left turn when you are certain that the way is clear and it’s safe to do so. Proceed with Caution: Even after checking, proceed with caution, being prepared to stop or yield to unexpected vehicles or pedestrians.

I’m not sure if this is easier. It all depends on your comfort and knowledge of the rules. If you know the rules well, then you can just drive through the streets and remember some of the features of the road.
