Man sure is a pretty sight to see! An old JD iron pulling a 1760... love it! We just got done planting yesterday. It was pretty darn wet on the last 2 fields so we went no-till.

Wow! A 1760 planter without vacuum. They are so hard to find. Seems like 90% are vacuum, at least here in the western corn belt.

How Farms Work Most of the guys who run them on tilled ground in my area have them set where they just touch every once in a while to move root balls and clods out too the side to smooth out the planter units. That is a very nice planter, she looks almost new. Cant wait to see her in action.

Looks like a good planter but the high/low sprocket is jumping need new chain or sprocket ... also the units are on the point. must have been used on a tractor with taller 48" tires. A hole or two on hitch should do better at at planting by being more level.

+Jesse Klaus We replaced the sprockets and chains this Spring. After several 100 acres a corn stalk jam took half the teeth off the new sprockets with the ratchet. Maybe the material is not so good as 20 years ago.

The arms tell you where center is on your next pass. Just line up the tractor with the line in the field and everything should be spaced correctly.
@tractorsold1
@tractorsold1 8 жыл бұрын
Put one down and it marks the middle of the next pass. Raise that one and use the other one every time you turn around at the end of the field. Or get GPS guidance if you have the need and the money.
