thanks for the demonstration. I want to install it in my van using the secondary battery that is in the back. What section of wire do you recommend? Thank you
@BramleyProductions2 жыл бұрын
Well if you have a loom like this you could just use the Pos+ Neg - wires to any battery to power the heater. these do take quite a draw in current at start up. But as long as your second battery is being charged no worries. Thanks for your kind comment Kev.

Is that the way to fit them with bracket on top or bottom ? I fitted one with bracket on side and exhaust coming out at bottom. Maybe why I’m having problems.

Hi, I think I'm right in saying you can fit these anyway and what works best for your space and what you are fixing this too. This way just was going to work best in the bulkhead I fitted to in the boat, so that's why I had it that way. I have fitted a couple of these along with the Eberspacher D2 warm air heaters on boats and always have fitted this way as it worked best for the space I had. They do work well once you get them going but can be a bit problematic; maybe I have been lucky! Thanks, Kev.

Hello I have 4 of these, 2 thermo top c which I couldnt get working then bought 2 thermo top v, I manage to get the diagnostic software last weekend and can test each components but the heater will still not fire up, as far as I can see you only need 12v at pin 3 to start it up but still no joy, did you have to do anything to any of the other pins to get it working?

Hi well, to be honest, I brought my heater as a recon unit the guy told me it did work but was sold cheap with no loom. So I purchased the right loom from a Wesbasto supplier off eBay think the loom cost about £54 pounds a couple of years ago all I did was hook this up as indicated in the video and the heater was off and running. I think often it's fuel-related why these heaters don't fire up that's why I always prime the fuel line to know I have diesel at the heater unit I think also they have a glowplug which can be problematical as well I have read I have the heater on the narrowboat now and I'm in the process of fitting it in there so don't have the heater here at home to check on any wiring like I say I basically plugged the loom in and connected a battery up rigged the pump up with a temp fuel supply and off it went! I could have a look when I'm at the boat next re the wiring and power if that would be any help. Hope you get some joy as they do work well. Thanks Kev.

@@dantronics1682 Hi Just had another think I have done a later test video on this heater and someone there asked me about the connection plugs on the top of the heater so! The First plug on the heater is the -12 and +12 volt supply. The second plug on Webasto heater on my loom is like this 1. Is Blank Not used. 2. Is Yellow cable. 3. Is Purple cable. 4. Is Black Cable. 5. Is Blank Not used. 6. Is Red Cable. Now The Yellow cable is not used on my system but this yellow cable of NO.2 position can be used with one of those diagnostic programmers I believe. The Purple of NO3 goes to my timer controller and I assume the red of 6 and black of 4. are power. Hoppe that may help in any way. Kev

Hello I'm looking to install one of these in a garage...... Do I need a fuel pump, or can I just have the diesel at height? What pressure does the pump run at?? Thanks
@BramleyProductions5 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for your comment Yes you will need a fuel pump these are a 12 volt pulse type pump you can not just gravity feed these heaters the pumps are low pressure I would assume as they pulse the fuel to the heater when running the pumps have a slight ticking noise that you can tell if they running right and fuel is being pumped or pulsed its a softer ticking sound to prime you fuel lines to get fuel up to the heater for the first start up I always pulse the pump from a 12 Volt battery to make sure you have fuel at the heater I think I show this pulsing the pump better in my second trial video as below. hope that helps in some way Kev. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZeTpHmjqNd6d9E

Hello, could you please share electrical connection of system? I would like to know how to start heating with +12V signal.

Hi, Well re the Webasto as in the video this is working off just a 12-volt car battery. As to the wiring loom? I did buy a new one from a good source on ebay for just over £50 UK pounds this made wiring up this system so very easy. Being very basic you have two wires of the loom to you Pos+ -Neg battery terminals then two wires supply the pump and then there are wires to supply any sort of control /timmer you want to add. My new Thermo Top C loom was all marked as to what wires did and where they connected so all very easy indeed. Plus this new wiring loom came with properly rated fuses all in ready as well and is new loom is very long if you have a heater and want to fit one I would certainly look around and buy a new loom as fitting was so easy I found. In a few weeks time now I will be fitting the Webasto on my boat so another video will then be made how its all connected up on the boat Kev.

Hi, great video! I saw the time you used was a non-webasto one. I've got a fairly dumb, 7 day turn on only timer attached to mine, but the webasto prices for anything more sophisticated seem crazy. Of like to fit a time and temperature based control, like you find in a home. Is the control required just a 12v on/off connection?

Pretty curious on the circuit you've made to run this. I'm about to set mine up for a similar setup but i'm unsure how to wire it. Do you need to keep pulsing the pump once it's primed? You got any information on what you did to wire it up?
@BramleyProductions6 жыл бұрын
Hi, No these pump will pulse on there own. I only pulse prime it to make sure I have fuel all along the fuel pipes and to make sure you have fuel ready at the heater! Like I say it will then run on its own and you will hear the clicking sound from the pump as it pulses on its own. I have to say my set up is a very basic one all bits I have put together! But seems to work very well I have since tried it another couple of times and it works extremely well. I hope to start to fit on the narrowboat very soon now. Thanks again Kev.
@BramleyProductions6 жыл бұрын
Well, I think going from memory in the video I did say I brought a new wiring loom for this Webasto! Now on this new loom, it was pretty straight forward as the fuses all came connected it was just a matter of working out the two wires to feed the pump 12volt and the two wires to hook up to the 12-volt battery. I then just wired that simple little timer in as well so the new loom made all this very easy and will make fitting on the narrowboat easy I feel as it just a matter of finding a location to fix the fuses then hook up to boats domestic battery. On my new loom, the two Thickest Red & Blue cables are main 12-volt battery cable. The two thin Red and blue wires are to the pump then you have another Thin Red / Blue /Purple wire to hook up the timmer to switch it was as easy as that. Red being Positive Blue being the Negative connections. Kev

Yep, I brought mine of a firm selling them on a well-known auction site! If you get stuck and want any pictures always happy to help. Kev.

Where to find the connection plan, wiring diagram. Send me a link please.
@BramleyProductions5 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for your comments re any sort of connection plan that you ask for will depend on what you are doing with the Webasto heater! First is it just like mine being used to supply hot water/heating on a boat or camper van say, or do you want to link it into the engine coolant on a car van etc to preheat in very low temperatures! See this video which I talk about the Webasto loom and how it all hooks up etc! Thanks, Kev. kzbin.info?o=U&video_id=7f0sFmsrGAo

Does this type blow hot air too or not ?
@BramleyProductions6 жыл бұрын
Hi No this Thermo Top C Webasto unit is just a hot water heater,however you can fit water filled units that then have a small fan to blow warm air. But this actual Webasto unit is a hot water heater unit only. Hope that helps Kev.

Just to add to that Webasto warm air only diesel heaters are called the "AirTop Heaters. And Eberspacer does the likes of the "D2" warm air only Diesel heater.
