Sorry I have been busy of late I do have a few more half shows as I think I explained a whole show was recorded on two tapes so I do have maybe 3 or 4 half-shows but sadly my old Sony TC 377 reel-to-reel is playing up and has developed a switch fault these have to be transferred to the computer in real-time and often need re joining in many places as the damp does the joins so that can be a real pain. And like I said the old Sony has to go on the bench for a total strip down which well that's the unknown how long all that will take now it is summer time these old tapes do shed lots of tape particles and I think it has become clogged up inside so needs a good cleaning But yes they will come on the channel in time for sure that I promise you but as to when that might be I could not say as yet. Thanks for your interest in these. All good wishes Kev.

I've just put a deposit on a Freeman 22 mk2. Bit of a project boat. Surprised to see you got a shower to fit in the heads. Looked like a really tidy job as well. I managed to find one with a Perkins diesel engine. 7'6" beam so limited for canals but all being well I can make a nice boat out of her.

Good luck with your Freeman I take It yours has either a Perkins 4107 or even better if it has the 4108 engine. It always made me laugh how Freeman had to cut away part of the seat foam as those old Perkins engines sat up so high there was a white fibreglass kind of dome that used to fit up into the seat cushion! Great boat you will have some fun with that for sure. Good luck getting it back ship shape and you know you don't buy a Freeman you marry it! All best wishes Kev.

@@BramleyProductions It's the Perkins 4107. It has a morse control for forward/reverse. Took it out for a test on the Great Ouse yesterday. Amazing how well they handle.
@BramleyProductions
@BramleyProductions Күн бұрын
@@GOD-OF-MGTOW The 4107 has wet cylinder liners which eventually corrode through. The 4108 has dry liners which don't. The 4108 is obviously 1 cubic inch larger than the 4107. Both suffer from cracked heads and broken crankshafts, but the 4108 is definitely the better of the two A Perkins 4108 on an F24 and ran well and never faulted. But back then was quite new still. Many years ago I saw a 4107 run away on a Freeman 26 it was caused by a small split in the fuel pump diaphragm, which slowly filled the sump with diesel. Lots of smoke! Fuel isolated at the tank. 2 mins later all was well and it stopped. New pump and all was well. Basic, noisy but fairly bulletproof. (Just watch out for the liners - but that is only a good DIY project!!) All so on the River Gt Ouse watch out for overheating that river used to cause a lot of scale in engines water courses did for many Honda Outboards my old friend here in Northampton Ken Yates repaired many that had suffered Gt Ouse water scale. That old engine will more than likely see me and you out and even the old F22 boat. Good luck with the boat and have some fun with her. All the best Kev.

@@BramleyProductions Thanks Kev, I've spoken to the broker today. We did see some oil in the bilge which one engineer's report suggests is from a leaking gearbox. We did a river test and saw no smoke from the exhaust but a second engineer said there's some oil on the river surface after the engine runs so we're waiting for a second opinion from the engineer who did the first inspection. Sale is subject to this oil leak being economical to repair and there's still wiggle room in the price. I'm hoping it's nothing too serious.

@@GOD-OF-MGTOW Oh, hope that goes OK trouble as I said in a video about the fact I had packed up boating! I do feel it has got so expensive so hope that can be sorted out without too much expense! I mean old engines /gearboxes and reduction boxes always lose a bit of oil. That Ford Sea Panther engine which is basically a Ford Petrol engine that was converted to Diesel by Exeter Uni first and then was sold by Watermota is a renowned engine for huge oil leaks in later life. Hope all goes well and you get the Freeman. Lovely River the Gt Ouse spent much time at both Buckden Marina And Hartford Marina and then Ely. Many years ago now. Thanks, Kev.

I do not think the issue is with the spring, I do not think a spring is capable of sending an irregular pulse through the gears! The issue is with your governor. That also tells us why you cannot get the speed up. Mal-adjusted governors are much more evident in cylinder players because they lack the "dampening" effect of the heavy turntable platter. But that , I assure you, is where you will find your problem.

Following on from my comments, over a month ago, I can confirm the singer in the record played ,at the end of your last tape, was indeed Les Howard. After Eric, he sang, with great success, with the BBC Northern Dance Orchestra, and the 'Make Way for Music', popular BBC series. These shows were compered by the controversial Roger Moffat. Will we have the good fortune of hearing any more of these Eric Winstone 1971 broadcast 'gems ', or is the last one in your 'treasure chest ' ? All best wishes from West Hollywood, CA.

As ever, as always, as only dear Dudley could and did, sumptuous - last listening for today, will sleep well now holding Dudley in prayer and thought….🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Knightsbridge March just fantastic, what a sound, 17 ranks sounding like 100!!! The only other Compton I knew and played as assistant organist from 1983 - 1985 was the 4M in Saint Bride’s, Fleet Street….interesting beast with Polyphone 32’s and a V rank Harmonic 32’ reed…… Seems Dudley + Compton = sheer musical and technical genius !!!! ❤️ To you dear Kev, again Bravo and THANK YOU eternally for all you do - fabulous! One day you must visit Bermuda and I’ll show you the best of what we have on this beautiful, tiny and historic island, still proudly a member of the British Commonwealth!!! Only 7 hours from Heathrow!!! Saint George’s, where I live and have our shop, is the oldest continuously occupied town in the Western Hemisphere!!! Lots of stories from pirates to shipbuilding, to ghosts and WWII submarines - the currently disused “Somers Playhouse”, a grand theater in its day with a circle, full stage and orchestra pit is crying out for a theatre organ, lots of chamber space but the organ was never installed…… So still no theater organ, but many great possible venues for a good installation - one day, still my greatest dream of all - listening to Dudley keeps the fire going, all made possible by constant inspiration from your astonishing work!!!! Again, blessings and have a lovely rest of the week!! 🙏🏻🌺🎀 Adrian in Bermuda! ☺️☺️☺️☺️ Bermuda Pipe Organ Company Limited, LLC Bermuda 1986

@BramleyProductions 2 ай бұрын
Well, I suppose you could do but do remember these smaller oler GRP boats such as Freeman had very little insulation Freeman did use foam in the roof and in other parts between the laminations but over time that has broken down and then condensation could be a huge problem as a live aboard when you cook or heat! These boats were designed for use from March/April to Oct/November and then they were laid up just as holiday boats back when they were built But sure I have known someone who lived for a number of years in a Freeman Mark2 22ft boat and loved it but like I say be prepared for everything to get damp in winter with condensation! But sure all doable The newer the boat you buy the better the Insulation would be but it's never going to be great even with a 1980s-built GRP boat. Also, a lot of older small Freeman are still Petrol engines the one problem here is there is little or no petrol apart from the River Thames maybe is now sold on the Inland waterways it is all Derv! So you could end up walking miles for fuel. It comes down to how much you can comprise and are prepared to put up with difficulties! But like I say all possible. Thansk for your most kind comment. @@GOD-OF-MGTOW Thanks the later built Freeman 22 Mark 2 like I had as my last Freeman is in fact a 6ft10 in beam and also was the only ever Freeman boat that had a weed hatch! So you can tell when you find one lift up the back seat look down by the rudder and you will see the weed hatch tube so you know you are viewing a narrow beam Mark 2 ! Many people say they have one you got to have a look no weed hatch and its just a standard F22 mark 2 with a 7ft4in beam! A good little boat these late-built Narrow beam Freeman. I fitted a brand new Westerbeke Diesel in mine replacing the old SeaWolf Watermota petrol which was the 1100cc Ford Escort engine marinized by Watermota. What Freeman did to make this boat was they cut down the mould on the 7ft4in bean Freeman Mark 2 22 when production finished on that mark in 1969 and they made this narrow-beam version from 1970 to about 1976 still a good few about never made in great numbers as back then they were hugely expensive around 60 built I believe. Yep, see as many boats as you can to get the feel and vibe of what will suit you. All the best Kev.

So brilliant and so, so talented and also obviously such a lovely gentleman. Such a super demonstration of the ABC organ, with the immaculate start to Widor Toccata through a demonstration of a Dutch Street organ!!! Such was Dudley’s genius and hence his success, he was properly trained and could play the classical repertoire as well as he the pop stuff of the day!! Part of his genius too was being able to make the little ABC organ (13 ranks + melotone?) sound like the had 50 ranks, again resourceful genius - I never knew him of couse but wish I had met him, I can only hope he’s somewhere up there playing some marvelous organ in heaven - gone but so treasured, so so absolutely fantastic you have so much of his material immortalized forever, ow with my own digital library of these works!! So appealing about Dudley was his obvious modesty and humility, combined with so much enthusiasm for all that he did, it was all so obviously a life long passion he never lost track of or the impetus to follow and pursue…. I know the ABC Compton was kept in tip top condition as a BBC broadcasting instrument, and was especially well voiced and regulated by Compton, it it was still Dudley who made it what it became and still is… Is the organ still buried in the bingo hall the ABC became, or did Rick Wakeman and friends rescue it and move it to London?? If you have any news on this, I’d love to know. If the organ is still buried, I will personally offer to buy it and restore it to as Dudley would have know it. It would be installed forever in a concert hall here in Bermuda, in the City of Hamilton!! A dream perhaps!! Anyway, all the best and tremendous thanks for all you do to help save and preserve the very best of the British Theatre Organ, or concert organ as Dudley describes them himself!!!
