Personally for mine, I made a battery stock and ran my leads out the stock attachment point and I put my mosfet in the battery compartment. Since things run pretty hot, I also cut vents in the diamond indents over the flywheels so it looks a bit more organic and intentional as well as allowing some airflow over the cages and motors. I also put heat sinks on each metal cage and the mosfet along with some arctic silver thermal paste.

I don't know that I'll ever do three stages in anything, but this was pretty informative. I may at some point do two stages in my FoxFire, and any information I can get is helpful. Great video!

@@Jerbt if yo have enough hot glue aluminum barrel and duck tape any thing is possible I had barley in between each flywheel cage and six kraken motors witch didn't do anything for performance but it made it look extra janky so I did it anyway

Awesome review and a great source of community information! I am wondering why I haven't seen any one do a three stage that starts with a 43.5 to a 42.5 to a 41.5 cage. I would have thought that running the same motors with different crush levels would have been a better solution. I realize this is a costly option, but way easier on the darts and the way they wear. I say this because it would reduce dart wear as the second flywheel pulls the dart of the first and so on... The crush level would be the variable that adjusts the acceleration... Also I have to comment on the current draw, and the switch, I uses 85amp switches so I have less of a problem with running things hard, but be aware that the initial current draw is always higher and will drop off once the motors and flywheels reach their maximum rpm & momentum, with only gentle increases in current consumption as a dart passes through the flywheels. If this wasn't the case your batteries would all be dead in under 15minutes... I will use this analogy... A remote control car I own running on a 2000mAh battery, running on a very high performance brushed motor in a race, would last only five minutes because of all the braking and accelerating. But the exact same setup, running the car on a oval where the car did not have to slow down for any reason, made the battery last 15 minutes. This is because the the motors rpm and the cars mass had achieved the maximum amount of momentum, and required less energy to sustain that velocity. I guess what I am trying to say is that if your worried your switch is to small, then keeping the motors rev'd up will reduce it's stress, and reduce current draw.

i am putting together one myself , but just want to do a 2 stage set up. i am planing to use worker Neo motors on both stage and worker 42.5mm cages and black worker wheel. i wonder will that be ok. or should i use Kraken motor in first stage with a 43.5mm cage first ?

Krakens are not fast enough for the Eclipse system to work as designed. Fang RV over-volted on 3S (about 55,000 rpm) or possibly Merlins is what the Eclipse needs.

"Silly expensive," definitely for different motors. Honestly, I don't think anyone should be demanding it regardless - an appropriately specced motor will not get performance that differs in a significant way, as long as the flywheel geometry (motor spacing, flywheels) remains the same. Good call. That said, it's nice to see testing varying spacings in flywheels. Something to note with the two cages divided by faux barrel - did you not have any tighter of a barrel in between? I think that alone would make for inconsistent entry into the second stage. Either way, results to consider and build off of. Also always nice to wonder how much the three stage was a bit meh. I think I've seen people try more extreme flywheel set-ups and pull significantly better numbers, but it does demonstrate that there are diminishing returns here regardless.

One of the guys in our war uses a 2 stage setup with rhinos in the first and homey badgers on the second and gets 250+fps. Fangs revamped are way to slow for the final stage

They are for normal uses, but can be pushed to 3s if you need higher rpm's for things like this or the Eclipse system.
