I was thinking about trying to purchase one from the guy online to see how well it worked. I have several of the original clips but having the ability to reproduce clips with 3D printing or using the single shot block is very intriguing. I think we are really at the beginning of 3D printing for surplus needs and I look forward to more developments. Nice video and very informative.

It never stops making me happy to see my design being used by people! Love to see it haha. I made it at 4am one day before a shoot because my clips hadn't arrived! I still feel a bit scummy for putting my name on it, but I did that so I can see if anyone actually made it... I've been planning to re-do those plastic clips for use as one-time disposable clips for shooting events (I've had my brass clips stepped on) so hopefully I can improve that design. Glad to see that many people have been able to enjoy their rifles from my simple little design, hope to give y'all more in future.

You should be proud of it, nothing wrong with putting your name on it. I like to single feed my milsurps when shooting my cast bullet reloads so your design for the Carcano and whoever designed it for the M95 in 8x56r helps a lot.

That’s a really nice idea! I’ve seen single shot adapters for the M1 Garand that functions in a similar way to the Carcano one. Main difference is that it was made of metal. Not eligible for the giveaway but still a really cool video!

Very interesting . I know you can use the 3 D printer for a lot of things . How does the cost of material/ time compare to buying the clips and snap caps . Did you or can you 3D print the bullets and use the brass casing to make snap caps that way , would it be cheaper ? I would be intersected in the Carcano snap caps . I look forward to the Schmidt - Rubin clip and how it performs
@usna98
@usna98 3 жыл бұрын
To give you an idea of cost, most people are selling a set of 6 Carcano brass snap caps for ~$20 and 6 of the 3D printed ones for ~$12 (so between 2-3 dollars per round). A spool of PLA filament costs ~$25 and I could print around 160 plastic snap caps (about 15 cents per round). Based on the results of the 3d printed clips, I would just buy the real clips, but the plastic snap caps are definitely useful.

USNA in my carbine feeding the last /6 round in the original En block clip it jams.. it does not feed like the other rounds . that 6th rd is pushed up and points to the sky and jams up. Got any ideas why it does that ? and a fix. THANKS

i asked a couple of people if they thought you could print magazine floorplates (mine is missing its origianal so i made a sheet metal one) or an entire magazine for a 1889 schmidt rubin since they are kind of hard to find right now, what do you think?
@usna98
@usna98 3 жыл бұрын
It could be done but would take a lot of work to model and fit. Unfortunately I don't think it would be very practical just due to the lack of durability unless you went with some exotic filament. There's a reason that milsurps don't run aftermarket magazines that well for the most part.
