I have that same helmet, ran a pvs14 off it for a year. Just a helmet to hold nods it works

I haven't worn a helmet since I last played ice hockey decades ago. That said, I still enjoy watching these types of reviews on gear. You covered this one well man. Thanks Matt. Football starts tomorrow man, I'm excited. Go Bears...LMAO

I recently bought a helmet similar to that one. While it is not where I want to end up, it is a starting point. And I think that is what we have to remember, it is not the best helmet but is a good point to start training.

it's a quick way to get on some ear pro and hold NODs when I get them. chances are, I'll be using it in my house so I think it's worth the $50.

The Fma fast sf bump and a knock off g24 is plenty solid for holding Nvg and larping around. Anything more than flat range and I’ll be throwing on ballistic helmet anyway. No reason a bump should be $300+ spend the money saved elsewhere

For $50 Id say it was an easy way to start down NVD path . Mind you OG SOF guys were just using skateboard and skydiving helmets in the Gwatt early days . If nothing else a cost effective trainer helmet.

I feel like something like this or mabey a little more with an $80 mount and some cheaper earpro like walker razors could be a good "sacrificial" setup if you will if you wanted to leave something in your vehicle. Not you main go to setup but as a beater setup in a since and if you think you need nods then take those with you, if that makes since.

A real LIIIA helmet is going to run roughly $600 new at the absolute lowest end new while on sale. That's not going to be a great helmet, but it likely actually passed IIIA standards. A bump helmet is not going to be ballistics rated, and clearly if you go cheap, you can't be rough with it. Unless you're running nods, it's more cost effective to just get a chin strap hard hat. They do an adequate job of protecting the noggin from low velocity impacts. If you're running nods, why the actual fuck did you not also budget for a real helmet? Nods are friggin expensive, even a good ballistic helmet is cheap in comparison. If you're that invested, just buy a proper helmet, you can obviously afford it.
