Interesting point. I've noticed that I can wear a pretty heavy ballistic setup for long periods of time with little discomfort as long as it is well balanced. I wonder if some of that is due to conditioning. Balance is also huge in my experience.

I'm old school and want a helmet that protects my head. If I can fit the entire _USS Enterprise_ sensor suite on it that's a bonus. But I get it. Kevlar helmets are heavy. It's just one of my physical quirks is I have a naturally strong, thick neck (unlike the rest of my body) which could support the old 80s k-pot indefinitely.

_Somehow_ I have an ACH. It works. MSA pros worn underneath with a plug in for audio, a back up ear piece for the hide. It's kind of a pain to have *all the things* integrated into the helmet. If you do go the ACH route (I have to image they're cheap _ish_ at this point) make sure to upgrade pads and strap (ymmv) and add the Ranger SOP Velcro spots. You can to a lot by sewing accessories onto the hook pieces, like; glint, NODs bungie spots, even glueing a button light onto it. And for the love of John Moses Browning: go out and break it.

I have one in XL, and I run comtac 5s under the helmet, it’s honestly a huge leap in bump helmets when the designers actually try on their helmets with coms. Its foam liner is grooved out to run a headset, and with some pad realignment it works perfectly. ( I have 4D pads ) Also the paint job on the helmet is top notch, looks 10x better then the shiny slick 1st gen bumps

As I live in europe. And wanted a stable platform for my DIY Thermal. I went with a LTP. Wanted to get a Busch Protective bump helmet originally. But my order kept being pushed out further and further... A huge game changer for me where the PGD pads. That are almost identical to 4D pads. Another thing that was specific to my setup. I need a battery pack/Power bank anyway for my Thermal. So I just chose a size that fit in the batter retention system from ferreo concepts. And Matched the weight I needed for balance. What I really like about the LTP is the retention system. Its is super stable. And very easy to adjust. But I had to shorten the chin straps. As my Head is huge. But my chin is not. Very happy with it now :D

Its the best shroud. It comes with insert pads in the box to "shim" the ill-fitting mounts on the market. I instead just use 3M velcro with the loop (soft) side under the mount, that way when I change mounts between helmets the shims follow the mount and nothing is on the shroud. Works perfect and rattle free. I have the carbon, the ballistic, as well as have tried other helmets from other manufacturers (team wendy, galvion) - it is not the shroud. Its your mount.

@@Jooglesberry the G24 is the most infamous for its rattle ha. My ballistic came with the sticky pads years ago so maybe they got lost in your box. My norotos INVG hyper mount had some play to it but considerably less than the G24, YMMV - easily remedied by shimming. My point remains. The rattle is due to the various mounts and shrouds on the marketplace having various tolerances. If it was tight in your Team Wendy it would have been loose in Ops Core, Galvion, HHV, etc

Its runnable without esp if you run good pads and a good suspension system but if you have to wear it a lot for a long time , fine tuning that weight helps alot. Think of it this way, you have a 10 lbs bulpup like an aug kitted out vs a 10 lbs piston ar where all the weight is out front and the suppressor on the end makes it worse and your forearms get tired. Its the same with a tube. The fact it hangs out over the front, its nice to fine tune some weight in the back to offset it

Buddy and I both snagged ops core carbon bump helmets last year for $500; they were having some kinda clearance sale on opscores website at the time. The carbons are absolutely fantastic, but NOT $1000+ levels of fantastic

That was the old gen carbon, which is pretty much the same as this helmet but not super high cut.

Hop said he will fore go the ballistic protection and save $700 bucks, but me thinks he forgot that he already bought the more expensive ballistic helmet. Now he just spent another $500. But at least he got a helmet he prefers and in the end, that's what matters.

Honestly, the accessories are more what I was interested in. I invested in HHV bump for my PVS-14, so have to use the M-Loc style attachments, which the industry seems to have ditched other than Team Wendy in favor of the ARC Rail that this helmet has.

You don’t have as much of a point as you think you do when chest rigs are literally a thing. Mission set determines gear and it often makes sense to sacrifice ballistic protection for less weight. If I’m preparing for some level of societal collapse and not an invasion from another country, I can do with less protection from specific low level rifle threats and shrapnel. I don’t see myself running into indirect fire if I just need to scavenge stuff at night. Also, I say low level rifle threats because that’s all it’ll protect you from. Low level rifle threats that have lost a lot of energy through distance or ricochet, because helmets are almost exclusively 3A when ballistic.

Whats the likelihood you actually benefit from a helmet when rifles are extremely common? If you get shot in the head with anything but a pistol caliber you either get so much deformation you die or it goes right through and you die. All the stories of the GWOT of dudes “tanking” ak rounds were shots that wouldn’t have actually hit their head in the first place cause they were above or to the side of the dudes head. And with high cut helmets that are kinda essential for modern earpro you dont have protection from much unless they’re shooting straight down at you with a handgun, or at your head while you tie your shoe.

I picked one of these up about 9 months ago. Getting it directly from Gentex was a mistake. They make them on order so there is always a big delay. Aside from the 3 month wait and the extremely mid customer service from Gentex it is the best helmet I have ever worn. WAY better the Team Wendy.
@Hoplopfheil
@Hoplopfheil 6 ай бұрын
Buying stuff from Gentex is a nightmare. They give you an estimated lead time which is usually on the low end of reality. Also I think they charge 25 bucks minimum shipping which for something like a counterweight or helmet cover is ludicrous.
