I love my z200's. They get the job done whenever I need to take off my headphones at rare times, the headphone pass through is super convenient, and they look great imo. Of course a subwoofer would be better to have, but honestly with how much I use my headphones vs using my speakers for long periods, I'm glad to have saved that extra little bit of space. They are also good enough for watching the occasional movie in a small room in bed (lady friend included), about 10 feet away (large monitor needed though of course). For $20 you can't go wrong with them, I PROMISE (unless you plan to use the speakers for most of your listening)

Depends on how good this one does in terms of views. Putting these together gets expensive once you get to mid -> higher range stuff. If we invest $1000+ we want to make sure people are interested first. So if you like this sort of stuff, share, like, subscribe & tell your friends. :)

I have the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers and I love them. They were $150 and they are very clear from the low to the high end, even when plugged straight into the computer. It also has a pretty good amount of bass. It's not super "boomy", but it is very clear and really adds to the media I'm playing whether it be music or a movie or a youtube video. I have a little amp/DAC combo unit that improves the sound a little but I'm sure a proper amp and DAC setup would really let the speakers shine

This made me get the creative A250s and I love them! The bass is just the best, it even adds to music you don’t think they would because of drums, it’s great in gaming, when I listened to my old 2.0 speaker system again it sounded like I was listening through a tin can! It may be because I’ve dropped them a few times but the sound quality is on par with my $100 Arctis 5 headphones, and I sometimes prefer listening to music on my speakers instead of headphones!

Hey guys and gals going to college! If you are going to be getting PC speakers and also live in a dorm room, don't get the sub woofer. Please. Nobody will like you. You will be actively hated. I am not try to be mean, but that is the harsh reality. Just go for normal woofers, midi's and tweeters like a normal person. The sound experience will not be that much worse and your downstairs neighbors wont be yelling at you. From a former dorm room dweller.

I'm still rockin a Creative I-Trigue L3500 2.1 Desktop speaker set that I bought in 2005 from Dell with the last pre-built PC I ever bought. Its been retired from battlestation duties as its just been replaced with a real Home Theater 5.1 Speaker set, the KEF E305' (Eggs) with E2 sub and amplification comes from an old Sony DB930 Home Theater Receiver where the integrated Realtek HD Audio Chipset on my motherboard does modern format decoding with the 5.1 analogue outs going to the 5.1 speaker inputs on the old receiver so that the Sony's old decoders are bypassed and its only providing amplification. The I-trigue is ultimately still connected to that PC but by way of my Bed-Station which is a 23" Monitor on an articulating Ergotron Mount at my bedside. A HDMI cable runs from the PC at one end of the room to the bedside AOC monitor. This monitor has a green Line-Out jack thats connected to the I-Trigue sub under my bed. The 2 desktop speakers I have attached to the sides of the Ergotron mounted AOC monitor. To switch audio from the KEF's to the I-Trigues I just switch from 'Realtek Speakers' to 'nVidia HDMI Audio' in the Windows Audio Taskbar menu. I love my new KEF's and of course they blow the I-Trigues out of the water but you know what, I still love these 13 year old Creative I-Trigues and am still amazed at the sound that comes out of this diminutive little 2.1 speaker set.

Don't call satellite speakers tweeters, they are in fact full range speakers as they'll be handling frequencies in the 100-200Hz and above most of the time. Tweeters handle frequencies above 3-4KHz and it's not unusual for them to be only handling 7Khz and above, especially in three way speakers. In PC speakers the satellites are usually just a 2.0 speaker to which they've added a mono woofer to bring up base response, if you plug satellites into a stereo amplifier, they sound just like cheap 2.0 PC speakers most of the time. A good option for PC's is to get a set of decent quality bookshelf speakers and buy a small Class D amplifier to drive them. I personally run a pair of old LG satellites and the passive subwoofer (speaker only not amplified) from an expensive 5.1 home theatre setup that someone threw out and I scored from the recycle shop for $5 on my gaming rig and bought a $20 cheap Chinese 2.1 class D amp to drive them. Compared to the low end 2.1 PC speakers I also own on my other PC, it's no contest. Just one of the LG satellites weighs as much as my PC speaker 2.1 subwoofer, but they're no bigger than the satellites which are very light in comparison.

Got them on an open box special at Best Buy for like $60 (although MSRP is like $90ish), and I have been blown away with their performance ever since. Something to consider, especially if they have a newer model or something that's replaced it

Get a Lepai or similar class T amp for $20 and then hit up your local Goodwill for a pair of bookshelf speakers. I got Infinity Primus P150s for like $30.

Not about to waste more money on CyberAcoustics. Bought one of their $50 setups from Walmart six months ago, and it's already going out. The left speaker doesn't work, even if I switch speakers via the plugs in the back. thus the speakers themselves are fine - it's the system in the main box with the subwoofer that's gone bad. Not the first time I've owned a CA product that went bad real fast - their products just aren't built to last.

I have an Aiwa SC-C77 that was given to me by my dad when I had my first PC a few years ago. It's pretty old by how very fast technology is growing currently, but it still works and I love the bass of it even though it is an old PC/desktop speaker. :D

I was very surprised and happy with my $20 usb powered Altec lancing speakers. They look cool and honestly the sound quality is what I would of expected from more expensive speakers. For me my surge protector is already cluttered with 3 monitors my pc a notebook and a few others so USB powered was more where I wanted to be.

I have an old Altec Lansing 2.1 setup that must be 10+ years old at this point. It sounds much better than most of the new 'cheap' alternatives, and even better than some of the mid-range priced stuff, so until it dies, it will stay my daily driver.

Save your money. Buy yourself a vintage stereo receiver from the 70's-90;s for $20 bucks. Add a couple of small vintage speakers for another few dollars. No sub-woofer needed. You'll end up with a sound system that will blow away any modern PC speakers.

Audio Engine A2 for smaller setup and A5 for larger setup. Pair that with a good dac and you're good to go. I got my A5+ 4 years ago and still use it everyday.

I had a more expensive Creative 2 .1 Speaker set up for my Desktop years ago that cost around £70 and to be honest these ones for 25 dollars look quite identical and I presume the Subwoofer was housed in a wooden box to like my old ones rather than plastic. They was excellent and personally better than any other PC Speakers I have ever tried over the years and I had tried quite a few. I think the only other PC speakers that impressed me were made by Cambridge that a friend of mine had years ago. These days I use wireless headphones rather than PC speakers but that is only because I have a pair of monitor speakers that I use with my DAW to do record my music. I only use them for that purpose only as well and not for general computer use. So I ended up selling my Creative's simply because I did not want to clog up my desktop space with a pile of speakers. I am quite gobsmacked to see that these Creative speakers are still so cheap these days, and in all honesty these are a damn site more of a practical speaker to have than some of the suggestions I have seen just recently in the last few weeks, who were recommending a Thousand Dollar pair of KEF LSX Speakers for their desktop computers. I mean that is absolutely ludicrous I will say and it looks like having HiFi speakers stuck on your desk which in all honesty simply do not look the part and out of place Really GREAT! review and nice to see somebody with a bit of sense too :))))))).

I have the Logitech G51 and it still works wonders, even better than current sounds in my opinion, its power, elegant design and attention to details that today do not give it similar products, together with its independent control they continue making a very good acquisition.

I just bought A250 and I am really surprised how they sound. I use them in ~12m^2 room and they get loud more than needed. I wanted tu buy Logitech Z333 but they are really huge in comparison and the reason for that is that they have fake tweeter. They are more powerful with better connectivity, but the size is just too unnecessary. Not mentioning that A250 are sold for much less. I was worried that they are plastic speakers, but they somehow managed to get rid of the plastic resonating sound which plagues cheep plastic speakers.

I brought the creative a250 in jan 2015 stopped using them august 2020 due to getting a sharp 150w soundbar (being smaller) a yr later the soundbars got 1 or 2 broken speakers and giving out, completely distorted sound, switched back to the a250s they still work perfectly in 2021 (even having sweets put in the sub by kids -.-, and being 6 yrs old) good bass and sound qualitys still amazing could be a little louder but there a perfect pc/bedroom set up especially for the money, looking for a new 2.1 set for around £60..any reccomendations, not logitech..?

Check out the Creative T30 speakers if you want a really good 2.0 setup! They are a bit pricey at 100€ but they sound amazing and you won't even notice that it doesn't have a subwoofer.

Got a pair of B&W prism bookshelf speakers and a JBL PSW-1000 Subwoofer running off of an old stereo receiver I found in the basement. All together, all are old and used, and could be bought for around $300 and i'm happy to say, i've quit using my Audio Technica M50xs because it's much more conveinent to not have a wire dangling from your head all the time. Overall, I believe the setup is ideal for a larger room and desk but very much something to look into when planning a good speaker setup.

You can't beat those Creatives for $50 and definitely not $30. But nothing will beat a dedicated DAC and amp for some decent passive speakers. You could get a crazy quality on the used market for any budget. A pair of Andrew Jone's Pioneers for $70 on Amazon is a crazy steal in audio, putting bluetooth speakers in the $500 range to shame. If you add a sub to that, you could push it even further. If you want powered all in one's: Swan and Mackie make excellent balanced powered monitors in the $150 range for a pair.

I replaced my dying Altec 251's that I bought back in 2002 with the Logitech Z333's which I have been great for the money. The sub is small, and therefore doesn't deliver much, but it is good enough for me. Just had to tweak the equalizer settings on my mobo audio software, and they sound great!

might be worth noting that it's possible to detest having a subwoofer, especially if you can't turn it off or change its power level. why? a subwoofer can easily make even relatively low volumes travel throughout your home...

Off topic, but you have a great voice, articulation and friendly, confident narration/delivery. This almost qualifies in the category of "accidental ASMR" -... almost. But you could have so many future paths you could take; more of this, or more conventional radio and TV, audiobook narration, or"voice over" to documentaries, etc, etc. Not to mention teaching in all its guises. Just saying:)

Logitech z200 only have 2 speakers… not 4 shown. The two bottom’s are dummy speakers meaning there’s no wire’s or power to them? Makes no sense to me but for $20 it’s worth it. However, they’re almost $40 these days
