Once upon a time i had fun with electrolysis and wanted to ramp things up. So i took a charger and removed the transformer out of the box thingy and put every thing back. Then i removed the charge adapter thing and ended up with two exposed wires that i could plug in a wall. Then i soldered two very large nails on those exposed wires with a little wire tape and tah dah. Then i used salt water and split water. (And maybe made bleach because you don’t use salt water with electrolysis cause chlorine is bad for you staying alive) then i touched the nails together and a nice spark was made. Then at the same time a steam of smoke travelled through the wire and into the box with a little pouf of smoke . I quickly unplugged the whole thinking the house would catch on fire and i broke the electricity in the house. So i ran to check a light switch but the light would not turn on! So i panicked and after a while i realised i was looking at the wrong light bulb and everything was fine. Until later that day my father said he received a phone call from the energy something. So i panicked some more thinking i blew up the manik 5 dam or something. Then i realised he actually said allergy clinic. That was what happened one day when i was bored.

It doesn't matter how many turns you make with the coil, you're wrapping uninsulated wire over a metal surface. It was bound to short-circuit any resistance provided by the wire. Fun video though!
@kevinkevin5973
@kevinkevin5973 6 жыл бұрын
that means the resistance is even lower, ANd William got 24kW with 120V and without taking into account teh short circuting. The guy in the Video used 240V which would make the wattage without the short circuit 48kW. With it even higher. That little thing is at least gonna produce as much heat as 32 water boilers
@flatfingertuning727
@flatfingertuning727 5 жыл бұрын
Many cans have a layer of varnish over them, which would offer significant resistance until it burns through. Though at the kinds of power involved that might not take very long. I'm actually bit surprised a US mains breaker didn't trip instantly, but Europe would be more fun since an ordinary mains plug there is like a US dryer socket (30A @ 220V).
@dustinbrueggemann1875
@dustinbrueggemann1875 5 жыл бұрын
@@flatfingertuning727 The wire was so thin that it acted it's own fuse. I highly doubt it sustained more than one or two amps for a few seconds before splitting apart. The breakers in a US standard load circuit will trigger a fault at 15 amps of sustained load.
@MicahBurginGTVPO
@MicahBurginGTVPO 5 жыл бұрын
@@dustinbrueggemann1875 Unless it's a kitchen receptacle (Dining room as well) or bathroom. Many shop outlets will also be 12 gauge 20 amp instead of 14 gauge 15 amp. But of course, the trip is still never going to happen, what with that wire's ampacity before self destruction being extremely low.

I tried to create a pyrographer with almost the same concept, i didn't realize that i was going to close the circuit of the wall plug without applying a resistor or something that used the current, so i plugged the device in and when the two pieces of solid metal wire that i was using as pyrographer's points touched each other they soldered into one in less than a second, ending in a big spark and shutting down the grid, it was painful, it also burned the surface where i was working on, here in Italy we have 220V current that is frightening under every aspect

If you're referring to the dry ice air conditioner then you might want to consider how little CO2 the dry ice releases, not nearly enough to kill a person even if it did you should take into account that an average room is not airtight.

@Hyxtryx
@Hyxtryx 4 жыл бұрын
Smart? He bought a clamp-on current meter and doesn't know how to use it. He clipped it across both wires in the power cord. It won't work that way. When he said "it says overload" near the end, he was lying. He was probably trying to figure out why it always read 0.00. He's talking about the resistance of the wire. ...it doesn't matter what it is, the aluminum can is shorting out all his turns of wire. It might actually work if the aluminum tube was wrapped in some kind of heat resistant insulating tape. Then he would need at least 8 ohms of wire to keep from blowing a 15A breaker.

@hardstylegamer9932
@hardstylegamer9932 3 жыл бұрын
@butter. Would still be quite far up there since It basically melts free faster. Central Eurooe uses 230 V Phase to earth. So just to get some more numbers in here lemme "flex" my knowledge Lul P = U^2÷R -> 230 V ^2 ÷ 0,6 Ohm = ~ 88 kW the millisecond u plug it in. Which is basically a short. Now ur standart powerplug in Auatria is protected with either a 16 A (old) or B10/B13 A breaker (new, 10 A being newest 2020 regulations) Lets see what kinda Current this would be and how fast our breaker would trip. (Fair gues, instantly) I = U ÷ R => 230V ÷ 0,6 Ohm = 383 A. A B13 Breaker trips instantly at 5 times its measured amperage ... soo.. I gues I don't need to write 13 ×5 here as 383 is DEFINETLY over that. Conclusion: Ur breaker would pop as soon as current is able to flow to ur construction. Atleast in austria. OR physics decide that ur wire is faster than the magnetic coil in ur breaker... then it just kills itself without tripping it... but I'm pretty sure either both things happen... or the first option.
