I have been using the Scotch delicate surfaces for 15 or 20 years from when it used to be blue. It’s my favorite masking tape, although you cannot leave it on indefinitely because the adhesive becomes gooey and gummy over time. Sherwin Williams also has a nice yellow low tack tape.

Big congrats for the 100k ! Seems like the last thousand took forever ! Your videos are always inspiring, I got in the airbrushing hobby with confidence thanks to your channel, knowing I'd find a buckload of infos watching your vids, so thank you ! Regarding the masking tape business, would you consider more tests with very thin vinyl masking tapes, like 3M 1/8 inch and such ? You know, the ones you can see in a million videos showing how to paint motorbikes gas tanks... I am very curious about the results on hobby paints ;-) Take care Robert, and keep on rocking !

I started watching this video when it came out and then paused it and then forgot about KZbin for about 10 hours. Very interesting on the tape. I definitely will need to look at giving maybe one of them. I already have some Tamia tape but having a bigger wider, tape would be good. Proud Patreon member commenting to support the video in the channel. Let’s get to 100 K. Be well be you

I have a few video ideas for you, miliput and epoxy, green stuff 2 parts modelling putties , I think adhesives would make a good one also ,I've just repaired a spitfire again hopefully the landing gear will stay on now as I've just used UV resin to set the landing gear in place for once and for all used revel plastic glue originally then again yesterday,after a few hours it still didn't feel solid so I used some auto thinner to get a quick bond ,it was ok this morning but still didn't feel solid literally 5 to 10 seconds it took to set the UV resin around the landing gear and now rock solid

Thanks for the testing! I used to use Frog Tape yellow but unfortunately when I put too much layers of paint and tape, bad things happen. LOL I've never used that specific 3M tape, now I have to find one locally. Anyway I've been using the Duplicolor Sandable Primer since 2010 and it's been solid either direct from can or decanted and thinned with lacquer thinner. All my painted kits with this primer are still good.

Thanks for doing this test, Robert - super helpful 👍 I saw somebody doing an airbrushing demo at a show a while back who suggested using Frog yellow tape, I've been using it since, and it's a huge saving. The performance is not quite on a par with Tamiya tape in my experience, but pretty close and fine for covering larger areas. Also the tip to moisten the edges is worth a try, I'll be giving that a go later today. But anyway, great video with thorough tests - and I feel validated 😅😇 Congrats on 100k, and I reckon that infernus space marine would look awesome in Steel Pumpkin! Barbatos chapter 😉

Also, I swear by that yellow Frog tape for any decorating or touch-up jobs around the house too. Nothing worse than fixing a chip on the door frame only to take half the paint off the wall with the masking tape 🤦😅

I've used both tapes. Love the yellow frog tape. The scotch tape I got to try doesn't seem to be nearly as strong as yours turned out to be. It would be lifting up, especially when exposed to paint almost as if its adhesive was as strong as a post it note or even possibly weaker. Mostly bad on curved surfaces. I might have to give it another chance after this, but I do really like the yellow frog tape.

@@brucek3217 The green is all my Lowes carries. Though maybe I haven't been paying attention. The green is fairly thick and sticky. Does a good job around the house and still peels off easily.
@brucek32172 ай бұрын
@@Waltkat I will check next time I go to lowes and see if they still have the yellow. I live in Florida so maybe all their stores are not the same ? I am not sure. I know a builder that does all the aztec patterns on his star trek ship models with the Frog yellow tape - that is how I found out about it. He makes those paint mask patterns with 100 tiny pieces LOL. so after I saw that i picked up a roll. I do use the cheaper blue tape they carry for just masking off non important things but any fine work I use the Frog tape 👍

It comes in the Box to keep it clean but really the paint is activated play moistening The Edge so if it's exposed to the elements it'll pull moisture from the air and then it won't have that technology so that's why it comes in the Box
