Good hunting I like trying out new guns too, got a 12g Weatherby Element last year for doves seen it had a IC choke with it and got a doe during a early gun hunt.

A 200 gr Core-lokt out of my Marlin 35 Rem usually drops them nearly in their tracks so I’m quite surprised this doe ran so far. Was any of the backstrap bloodshot with the hit being a little high? Didn’t look like it was that high. Exit hole? 🤔

High lung shot and she was slightly quartering to for me at the shot angle. All meat was good. What happend it looked like when I gut her is the bullet hit rib dead square on entry and deflected just a little bit back. Had shot been a little big more forward I'm sure she would have dropped or went a little less distance. I Shot a buck with same round at 70 yards this year and he only went 15 yards with a heart shot.

@@codybutlerhunt thanks for the reply! Think I’d stick with the 200 gr. because it’s really the bullet that made the Marlin 35 Rem almost legendary in the deer woods and as it is has been criticized for its low sectional density. The deer don’t seem to mind, though lol. Federal Premium announced they’re gonna make a 220 gr 35 Rem load in their HammerDown line so I’m curious to see how they’ll perform. Just waiting on the email from Midway saying they got em to sell.

I hunt in Illinois and would unfortunately have to make the lever action a single shot in order to be legal, does Henry make a magazine plug ? I know they make a single shot rifle, but really want the lever action.

I don't believe we have a magazine plug at this time. That said yes we do have single shots!
