A good practice if you know an ice or snowstorm is coming is to raise your wipers away from the windshield in the position you'd use for changing the blades. They're much easier to clean off that way, the windshield is easier to clean and they'll then work when you need them to. My snow thrower is an antique but it still works well. A 1965 Ariens 10M4. It'll drive itself up the ramps into the truck, you just better hope you can still reach the clutch to stop it when it gets up there, LOL! Fortunately I'm 6'8" so it isn't a problem for me but someone like my Ma would have to walk up the ramps with it.

Its been working out with the ramps pretty good. Im 5' 11" so i just stop the machine when it reaches the tailgate then push it from there.

I have the Snowmaster 824 which has the same engine as the Powermax 824. The Snowmaster 824is rated at 2800 pounds of snow removal per minute, whereas the Powermax is only rated at 2000 pounds per minute. The Snowmaster is better is fresh light snow, but I would imagine, the Powermax with it's 50 extra pounds would be more planted and be better for heavier snow.

I'm interested in the ramps, where you got them and how much they run. I'd love to see a loading & unloading video to see if it's something I could handle. I just got a Powermax 824OE. I had used one at a previous job, for a couple years & loved it. Now, with my own, I'm wondering about being able to take it to help my parents, in addition to clearing my own place.

I got those ramps at Harbor Freight for about $80-$90 2 years ago. They have a 1000 pound capacity so its great for the snowblower and even an ATV. Very light weight also. In terms of loading i keep it in about 2nd to 3rd gear and drive it right up. For unloading i keep it in reverse 1st gear and it comes off nice and slow!

I was debating about upgrading from a small toro single stage to the 824 and was worried about transporting it. Thank you for the information Ken!

What made you get a Toro instead of Ariens snowblower? How long have you had the Toro, and how do you like it?
@KenSlaton Жыл бұрын
I got it for ease of repairs. There is a toro dealer closer to me and at the time i couldn't find an Ariens dealer close enough. Love the Toro, there isn't anything it won't throw.
