The purpose for conversion gems is to benefit the damage type bonuses. The damage is the same between different tier gems because we're assuming that they are both hitting neutral damage. But let's say you equip a T2 sapphire gem for 20% conversion to arcane. If you hit a corrupted mob which takes 130% extra damage against arcane then only 20% of that conversion damage will benefit from the 130% damage type bonus. Now if you slot in a Tier5 Sapphire gem it will convert 50% of your damage to arcane which will have a bigger impact by that 130% damage type bonus against the corrupted.
@Haldri.3 жыл бұрын
yeah i dont understand why ppl dont get this
@AUserName-fv8zj3 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly, this is the overall purpose of the gems, to convert damage types. It isn't surprising that the overall damage is the same against a 0 resistance opponent as all it's doing is converting damage types. This is how it works and how I expected it to work. As for INT gems on INT weapons/builds, it seems clear to me that they just used the same calculations in this scenario which results in more output damage on a T2 because it reduces base damage by less, which is a multiplier on every elemental gem, i.e. (Level dmg + Attribute dmg) - (1 - multiplier). Higher the multiplier (higher tier gem) the less the overall dmg. This is definitely unintended and a result of: 1) Using the same calc for gems in all scenarios. That calc works perfectly fine for all other scenarios. 2) Not considering that players will put an INT converting gem on their already INT scaled build. Or not caring that on release it will cause weird damage outputs. It's sloppy and involves cutting corners but it gets your product to release faster. What this has caused though is players thinking T2 gems are the best in every scenario, which is just not the case.

@@AUserName-fv8zj not exactly, the gem's converted magic damage does not gain full benefit from all crit damage multipliers your main fire or ice will as he stated around 4:30. You'll notice that most of the time it's a 50/50 split (with the t5 gem) on damage for light/heavy, but fireball/pillar will see a 60/40 fire/arcane or 70/30 on crits (I'm not sure which abilities' crit multiplier talents/base crits are not applying correctly, but just for example). I did notice this yesterday while fighting things but didn't realize what was happening, and didn't keep track of which abilities were seeing reduced crit on the gem elemental portion, and therefore reduced total crit damage overall.

I don't see many people talking about the Ice Gauntlet, but Ice storm and Ice Shower with the Heavy Freeze passive and/or Unending Thaw perk will also perma-stun. Every heavy attack while affected by Ice Storm or Frostbite (debuff from Ice Shower, which lasts 3 seconds), will freeze you for 1 second, and there is no cooldown for this to proc. There definitely needs to be a period of time after a stun that you are fully resistant to them. I main spear, and like you mentioned, with just Sweep, Vault Kick, and the CD reduction after a dodge perk, I can permanently stun you.
@ErrantObserver3 жыл бұрын
Here's a fun one: the Unending Thaw perk on ice gauntlet weapons completely breaks the ice storm skill and it no longer does damage over time. As long as something is inside the damage area they only get one tic of damage. Leaving and entering the damage area of effect does seem to cause damage to tic again.

Just a heads up to anyone who has not figured out why the tier 2 elemental gem deals more damage than the t5 elemental gem The 20% elemental gems still has 70% of its damage scaling from the weapon's primary / secondary attribute. This translates to that weapon getting a higher base damage overall as long as you have points spent on those specific attributes and thus the converted damage ends up bigger as well. Very Important: keep in mind though that this only works like this if you have spent points in a weapon's main attribute. this is reflected in the calculator as well if you instead try using a Greataxe with an int gem You will notice that at 5 strength, both the greataxe with a tier 2 gem and a tier 5 gem actually deals the same total damage but increase your strength, and you will notice that the greataxe with a tier 2 gem is now slightly dealing more damage. Key takeaway here is that as long as you have attribute points spent towards a weapon's main or secondary stat, tier 2 elemental gems would end up giving you a higher total damage p.s Nice video my man. You are one of the most informative new world channels I've watched definitely underrated. Sub from me! Cheers

I could be wrong, but the calculator is flawed because it doesn't take into account the attribute milestones. For example 150 INT gives 15% elemental damage, but comparing 149 to 150 INT in the calculator gave just a 2 damage difference to Great Axe. For this reason, a T5 gem will be better than a T2 gem in non-INT weapons if you have at least 150 INT. I would also like to add that some skills do not work well with conversion gems. For example Ice Gauntlet's Ice Storm only takes into account the conversion on the first hit and then some random hits afterwards, but not all hits. But the light and heavy attacks always convert.

**The 20% burn duration and fortify on burn passives from firestaff were not working for me testing last night. When you have a chance, a video on CC true combos would be super useful. Like, what can be done guaranteed during a knockdown? Weapon swap into which attacks work and don't work? I have a hunch that hammer flatten lasts slightly longer than spear sweep and allows some swap attacks that aren't possible with spear, but I haven't been able to test. Certain stuns (sword, hammer, riposte) allow weapon swap into big abilities from other weapons while other stuns (spear) are not long enough (in light armor, maybe this changes with heavy??). But 2 seconds seems to be the golden number. Is the knockdown from Clear Out the same duration as Javelin? This kind of frame data opens up all kinds of theory-crafting. Cheers

Hello Rapier user here. I'm using T5 gems and the damage are converted normally as of 1.1. Without the 150 INT perk I can witness the exact same numbers in Thrust/Elemental with a T5 gem, as it should work (converting 50% of the damage to elemental), even with perk such as final perk in the Grace tree (increasing Light/heavy attacks damage) or other such type of perks. When I add in the 150 INT perk (playing 200 DEX + 150 INT) as well as Elemental perk on Ring it start doing enormous amount of damage. It seems that the Rogue perk does apply to these elemental damage, multiplicatively, with all other elemental damage modifier (Type vulnerability, 150 INT perk, Ring elemental Perk, etc.) Idk if you did some more testes recently but it seems a lot of things have been fixed/changed recently.

Hi all, thank you for the good stuff here. Well, what should i say ... Indeed, a lot of things don't work well, as intended. But ... like in any other games out there, there are some issues to discuss, that work verry well but are overpowered. The player are olways verry inventive in playstyle and will allways look for the best possible combination to be better than the oponent (don't speak of cheats). For example the icegountlet ... when you catch someone in the icestorm, the char is slowed and take dmg, but if you cast a heavy attack on him, he will be stunned for one sec., in effect you can just spam endless heavy attacks on him till he dies, becouse he will stay stunned till the death escapes him from pain. There are a lot of combination with all weapons, that if timed well, there is no escape, other the death. Now i wrote a lot ... The game is just some weeks old and there are and will be a lot of things to be fixed and the devs will do theyr job well (as intended 😇). Greetings, Marius

Hey, great video! Can we find out more about perks also? For example what if you have a perk for one of your skills, for example Sundering Shockwave and you have the same on your warhammer, which one counts? Will it multiply? Cause I believe Luck perks multiply, cooldown perks multiply, Resilient multiply, and the gems multiply. Another question, let's say I have Keen on both Great axe and Warhammer, will it multiply? Or only the perks apply on weapons which you are using at the time, the perks of your other weapon and them gem in that doesn't matter. So basically, can you multiply your crit chance or any perks by using the same perks on both weapons? Thank you in advance!

I have tested a rapier on a dummy using t2 and t5 gems, and the t5 gem definitely does more damage because the 50% weapon damage that is dealing in this case Arcane damage is gaining an additional 15% from being an elemental damage type, and not just thrust anymore.
