I learned the hard way. Hydrolocked a motor as well. The high clearance bumper allows water easy access of the intake tract. An ARB Safari snorkel is worth every penny

Great upload, just found you in my recommend section. I have the Japanese varients of both these vehicles. We have the Toyota Prado here in the UK; I have the 2009 model Prado 4 litre V6 1GR vairent which is the largest displacement engine Toyota offered. The GX470 was built on the Prado 120 chassis & body but with more creature comforts, premium sound system, a quiter cabin and a 2UZ V8. Instead of the 4Runner, we have the Toyota Surf here; I have a 2008 Surf 1GR V6, just like the Prado sadly, the Surf never came with a V8. All right hand drive Japanese imports and all great vehicles to own and drive.

Good question, we usually will get out and test the depth with a stick or something to check before just driving through, also making sure you are not going too fast is important. Awesome video your best yet. Damn wish we in the East Coast could just hit trails like that whenever!! Fucken horses running around lol Too bad about your buddy, at least he had the balls to get out there. Give us an update on what the diagnosis is. Good to learn from. I also hate the look of the snorkel kind of obnoxious in my opinion. Only nice looking option is Lenzdesign which I want to pull the trigger on but they have very mixed reviews lately and it ain't cheap.. Also I don't get what the problem with the seat tilt is, doesn't bother me at all. I just wish the seats went back further and steering wheel came down lower. The angle hasn't bothered me.

I did not know you could drive an all wheel drive truck with a different sized spare on it… To my knowledge this would ruin the drive system. You technically can’t even mix tire brands or have different tire wear levels, correct? You need to replace them in full sets…

Be better to keep your ass OUT of the freakin water--- they're TRUCKS not damn boats... you NEVER know how deep that shit is.. also , if you're driving in snow in an area you've never been- you might be driving over a frozen pond that's deep and NOT totally frozen-- dangerous situation.. I love the set up you have- and i want MY lexus fixed like yours'' MOSTLY-- I'm not doing the "overland" stuff though- I don't care to be gone that long- adn I LIKE HOTELS.. :) I'm OLD.. ha. beautiful trip-- but that water is MUCH too risky...

No I would NOT tell you that you "need a snorkel"-- you need to keep yo-ass OUT of the damn water-- they're TRUCKS- not damn boats.. :) If you can't walk it and check it out- DON"T drive in it-- you never know how there might be a hole deep enough for you to disappear into.. or at least flood out like he did.. USE a little common sense!! :) BUT- I am going to set one up the way YOU have-- love that look. NO snorkel- that makes them look stupid-- and as I said- they're NOT boats anyway.. I'm going to be going around at Christmas in my santa suit with my girlfriend- delivering food, toys, etc. to families that don't have any-- IF it turns off snowy--and might anyway!!! I live up in country- and there are a lot of driveways (well, they're called that- but they're really goat trails) where we'll NEED the lexus capability.. and I loved the way you helped people-- I LOVE that..
