Had one for over a year now. Works well and have gone through 4 filters. Recommend you leave it set up ready for use - the folding plastic is brittle and hinges break over time. Also not air tight so gaps around the front will leak overspray onto your surface - I had to tape up all corners and seams. In the video, the end piece is forced on - only needed to expand the hose ribs and it screws on easily.

Good to know. So we would be better off with a cardboard box bay that is disposable and focus on the fan/exhaust. This is the one big issue with amazon dominance in the market : we get 18 different labeled versions of the same cheapest crap and no quality products (because any quality would be impossible to find in the sea of crap). It’s probably better to buy the various parts and build your own.

@@InterCity134 there's an awesome video from a channel called props and stuff that shows you how to build one from moving boxes. Its much bigger than this booth and is air tight. I definitely suggest checking it out. Im planning on building it this weekend actually.

That version is pretty good buy. I'm pretty sure it was made more for the North American market over the German market. As I work for a subsidiary of a German company, I'm familiar with Tilt/Turn hardware. However, the majority of windows in North America are hung sliding windows that the flat hose connection is perfect for. I appreciate that you did an actual paint test with this one as most reviews haven't. This looks to be the winner for me if a similar price point is available in Canada.

Got one of these a few years back. its not too bad but I made modifications after the fan failed. I replaced the fan with a higher flow rate and a PWM speed controller to control the fan speed. Fitted a switch for the LED's as well as they can be annoying working beside it.. Fitted it to a monitor arm and can swing it out the way rather than take it apart.

The key part is the exhaust fan & elephant trunk. Some one handy can create a better spray booth. Bigger area to fit more kits on or in. I bought two & made a wider one for ships & such. I feel like putting a cheaper filter in front of the filter. Once your fan blades start to collect sediment the air flow will only get worse.

It took me 4 years to finally break down and buy one of these. Every time I sprayed tamiya I was wearing a respirator, a clothe mask when doing acrylic and still I could tell a difference in my lungs, kind of had a sore throat, a good iwata airbrush cost more then one of these units, I priced out building my own and there is no way I could do for the same. Biggest con is the depth of even a small unit, add another 10” to the depth for the vent coupling so we are looking at about 28” or 2.5 feet almost a yard to account for

You used the name, "Lazy Susan" which i use a lot but no one seems to know. Also 👍 on Gojira, love it. Sealed everything with hot glue and gorilla tape.

I bought the exact same one and tested it today. I have no idea why people in the Amazon reviews were complaining that it is too loud. It is certainly not quiet, but also much less loud than I expected. But one question: after my first session I noticed in the manual, that they ask to remove the second layer of filter if the hose is used, because it is not required then. I did not even notice that there was a second layer of filter and did not remove anything. I feel like I prefer to keep it in there if it doesn't come with any negative effects. Did you remove one filter or did you keep it as it was?
@Wolfenacht2 жыл бұрын
There is a negative affect with keeping the second layer on. Since moving the air through the hose takes a little more power, but the filter itself restricts airflow the thicker it is. They gave you a double wide filter to really trap in the fumes since you are not using a hose to remove the fumes away from you, so they don't want extra fumes floating about. If you take the extra filter off you will see a big performance boost in terms of airflow/fumes moving away from you and into the hose.
@advictoriamgaming7554 Жыл бұрын
@@Wolfenacht so if I'm understanding you correctly it would be ok to just use the booth and not hook it up to an outside air source? My hobby space is in the basement and windows are a tad hard to come by there. 😂
@Wolfenacht Жыл бұрын
@@advictoriamgaming7554 So, it depends on what you are spraying (Yes there are different types of paint) and how good of a filter is in it, will determine if it's safe. It's definitely better than nothing, but I would always consider having a respirator on if doing it for a bit. You never know the damages of this kind of thing until it's too late, or years later with cancer.

I put a 90 elbow upwards then connect the exhaust hose. Saves room
@jlai0363 жыл бұрын
The most important thing is to look out for airflow rate. The higher airflow rate means it can move fumes away and out of the room better. The type of paint used e.g. lacquer or enamel which are very toxic would require a high airflow and suction to remove as much fumes as possible. Also always paint with paint respirator. Next is the lights - number of lights and how bright Next is working space - how big is the painting area

If you are only spraying latex / water based paints that is fine. If you spray enamels with solvents then no - as the solvent fumes will build up in the room and they are flammable so eventually will get to an explosive concentration as well as being bad to breathe.

Had it for a couple of years and the suction is no good for a heavier spraying like priming or varnishing. get a light beam striking the area and you'll see billows of particles escaping. For close up airbrushing it's probably fine. I absolutely would have saved up more for a dual fan or stronger fan though in retrospect, as i don't think this is strong enough for purpose..
@cloudwind232 жыл бұрын

@@cloudwind23 yep. I went really thin with ut but also then there is paint particles building up on the fan. The suction is fine for close up small work, but any base coating and priming type stuff its not strong enough to prevent clouds of particles escaping. "the end of the hose, which isn't really practical and needs to be adapted" is not the problem... for 99% of people. that is designed for a normal window. you slide it in and close the window on it, taking up just enough room so you can vent out with precisely enough opened window space is left to normalize the pressure the vent is causing. calling it bad design is just wrong my friend. your window is bad design, not the vent. The only change I'd make if I only had one window in a room, is to add a bend at the end, like a giant snorkel. the purpose of which is to release the fumes away from where the window is pulling in fresh air. otherwise the vacuum in the room is causing it to suck in the bad air you just vented out. the best solution is having a second window and making the vent out a solid piece to close the window on, then crack the second window.
@WF3D9 ай бұрын
Well I don't know where you're from and what you mean by "normal" window but these are regular windows in Germany and similar in most of Europe so definitely more than 1% who buy that will have a similar issue with the window. There are different standards, if you compare it for example to a wall outlet which is different in Germany, UK, and US for example it is up to the product to have the right "plug" if sold in that region
