So what do you guys think? Will it be able to shift this fast with the juice hitting it? Or will she go back to “slip shifting” again?

Turns out that with a 2001 Z28, you have to do the servo in pieces like the Vette. The only real pain in the ass part was reinstalling the c-clip that retains the washer and spring. Thanks for your content. it is much appreciated.

So two years later in Australia, i find you have the same 10 sec shift id.....im at a 2 sec shift now shimless. Going back in for 2 spacers and await the sub one second shift. Love your content, our engines are all north south facing here which is great, except for the dreaded intake elbow which may as well be in the firewall. once ive finished ill order a tee shirt and continue to advocate your channel.

Hell yea. I was only on hold for about 20 seconds when I called them. As for the 6 second pass, like I said in the video, I was hoping to try this weekend but what I forgot was I had promised Uncle Ray that I would go to the gasser races this Saturday. So looks like it may be two weeks before I get the Chinavette back to the track.

Brother Transgo has been around for a Loooooooooong time. their shift kits have evolved through the years though. They’re probably the most complete “shift kits” you can buy as far as being able to custom tailor to your needs. I had thought about dropping the pan and adding a second shim to the 2nd accumulator but I think the setup I have now is a perfect blend of snappy shifting and comfort for a daily driver. If it was any more harsh I’d probably get resistance from the wifey who drives it every day. Lol. Hopefully it’ll be enough to finally hit those 6s though.

I was told or read countless times that it's impossible to remove the emissions air piping from behind the heads and intake on a C5 without removing the intake manifold. Proceeded to accomplish that task with minimal swearing. The sad part is you can have the intake off of an LS motor in about 5 to 10 minutes as you know lol.
@BadLuckGarage5 жыл бұрын
Lol, yea I’ve made it a point to dispell myths as much as possible. Like I said, generally when you hear a bunch of people saying the exact same thing it’s because they’ve never actually tried it themselves. There’s a bad thing happening on Facebook, forums, and even on KZbin where you’ve got a lot of people never doing any real work. They just read or watch everyone else’s bullshit and regurgitate it as fact. Like you stated, that air injection pipe is a perfect example. It’s a tight fit, but if you worm a long wrench in and just crack that bolt lose on the back of the head, that pipe bracket is slotted and you can then slide it off the bolt at a slight angle. But there are hundreds of guys that will argue till they’re blue in the face that it can’t be done. 🤣

Great video, so it's the spring and spacer in the Covertte servo that finally clicked? Also how do you tune it and is it necessary, I'll be doing this on an 01 Camaro v6 per your valve body video and I've got the Covertte servo installed. Thank you 👍👍👍!!!
@bvdamart5 жыл бұрын
Great video! I plan on doing the exact install on my 2004 base Corvette. Glad to see the shifting is firmer in auto. I'm autocrossing my car and need manual control over the shift timing, and I need the upshift/downshift to hit quicker than stock. Are the shifts just as firm when you manually shift from 1-2, 2-3? I assume so. Thanks for showing us the way.
@BadLuckGarage5 жыл бұрын
The shifts feel about the same either way. I’m not sure if you watched th installation video but in that video I explain that I went with the softest options simply because my wife daily drives this car more than I race it. If it were just me driving it then I would have went with two spacers in the 2nd accumulator and drilled the 1-2 hole in the plate with the larger bit. Depending on how it performs on the spray again I may at least add that second shim anyway and see how the part throttle feels. She never goes WOT in it so as long as I can keep the part throttle shifts somewhat reasonable I won’t have any issues. 🤣

now is a good time to tune the trans ecu!
@BadLuckGarage4 жыл бұрын
I already had. I actually “detuned” it a bit after the shift kit. Transgo recommends leaving all line pressure settings at stock levels. So the only tuning that should be done post shift kit install is adjusting the shift speed which I already had maxed out anyway. 😉

Hi. I do have a C5 Corvette with Automatic transmission. Will it hurt anything to shift manually 1,2,3,D and then back D,3,2,1? I like to manually shift all the time, and I use to drive slow and careful so it is just to get that sound and brake on the gears. Will that hurt anything?
@BadLuckGarage4 жыл бұрын
Manual up shifting doesn’t really put anymore wear and tear on your transmission. Manual downshifting and using the engine to slow you down does create wear in certain. Components that you wouldn’t normally have.

Yea it sounds like you popped it brother. As much nitrous as you were spraying on such a small stock engine I figured it would happen sooner or later. But it probably would have lasted a lot longer without your buddies help. Lol. If you have the funds, it may be a good idea to build the engine with stronger rods and pistons. I don’t really know what all is available for minis but as popular as they are over there I’m sure they make some good parts for them. 👍🏻

@BadLuckGarage Жыл бұрын
I disagree. It’s a petroleum based lubricant. There is nothing, nor has there ever been anything better to lube o-ring and lip seals with than a petroleum/oil based lubricant. Especially in applications where said o-rings and seals are going exposed to oil based lubricants for their lifespan anyway.
