Hello friend; first of all, thanks for the demonstration. I have had my xTOOL D1 Pro for a little over a week; and for getting better acquainted, in the Laser tab I always use "Current Position" so I would like to know if it is possible to use "Homing" in that function or is it only in Absolute Coordinates. And how can I configure Homing on this D1 Pro machine. Thanks
@TheClackShack Жыл бұрын
You can use it both ways, I switch based on the burn. Odd shaped objects or 1 time burns, current position works well. For cutting or multiple objects, I use absolute. Homing isn't required if you are running current position.

I m new to laser machine and in market to use for making pop up cards from cardstock paper and some miniature wood pieces. I have Cricut maker machine. 1) does it work on cardstock paper making intricate cuts or too strong for it? 2) other tool air assist or honeycomb is optional in such application? like to try first and gradually like to add accessory. 3) what is longevity of this machine? I read mixed review on amazon 4)Looking at xtool d1 pro 10w or 20w . I see diff of 500 $ between them. Should I go with 20w ? Does 10W cut more intricate cuts then 20w? Quick reply (if u can) will be great
@TheClackShack11 ай бұрын
Yes, most 20 watt lasers will cut card stock or paper with ease. You do need to get something with air assist and a honeycomb when cutting paper. Without it, there is a risk of fire.

This may have been mentioned or not, but the limit switches are optical, one side is an emitter and other side is receiver, thus the u shape of the sensor. It uses infrared light to hit the sensor, and the little arm on the moving part blocks the beam, and says STOP! Lol, Laser printers have them. Now these CAN get dirty, and will need to be cleaned.

In the Facebook group there are people asking about whether or not they should cancel their orders and get 10w instead. Thank you for your videos and information. I am learning alot from them so I can be prepared for my laser.

I have the original d1 and I home it and get same exact accuracy. I slowed my move speed down so it won’t bang or slam into rails. I never manually move it anymore. Have my honeycomb with material set right at 0/0. When I hit fire button, it’s dead on corner of board. I can put a piece of scrap anywhere and machine will go right to it without limit switches

If you want to stop changing out the leg extenders all of the time check out A Zone Precision and Machine. They make an aluminum extension made on a CNC. I don't have to ever remove the legs from the corners because I can focus from the bed all the way to the top of my R2 rotary with a 30 oz. tumbler in it with all of the leg sections installed. I previously had a 3D printed extension that worked but since I was using it to focus in the same place over and over again at different heights the locking screw on the D1 was eating into the plastic and I had to lift the handle on it 4 or 5 times to get it to lock down each time and it kept getting worse. I did also note that the 3D printed one had some wobble in it after a while that let the head get off center which skewed my cross hairs a bunch from square. I am not affiliated with them in any way, I am just a satisfied customer.

My only concern is that the added weight might cause more stress on the stepper motors at higher speeds. I will come up with an alternative eventually. Thanks though.

So i adjusted those a bit and it seems to have fixed the problem. It is getting late and I have to work in the morning so I've already missed my bedtime lol. I'll try it out tomorrow evening a bit.
