No, it’s just bad writing. They wanna do something spectacular and don’t care if a character has to act dumb for it to work. Whenever a character has the ability to regenerate quickly for example, they’ll get into the craziest and most unlikely accidents and fights, have they’re arms or legs cut off all the time and so on, just for show.
