Awesome watching y’all! We just finished our winter gate guarding and I liked the shack also!!!

That's awesome, where were you guys located at? How long of assignment did you have?
@boondockingnomads8 ай бұрын
We did Frac in Encinal and a 24 hr shack in Midland. From Oct til mid March
@thewanderingshores8 ай бұрын
@@boondockingnomads oh wow, we heard frac locations are super busy. You guys are juggernauts, that's a really long time. I think we would tap out around 45-60 days.

Thanks for the update guys - that was a very interesting experience. Glad everything worked out positively and you get to go home now and see some family. Look forward to seeing your trip back there. Peace :)

Thanks you guys. Yes it was an adventure and we would do it again. We just would make sure that there is a time limit and we ask a lot of questions in advance. We'll be sharing our adventures heading north this coming Sunday. Safe travels to you guys- Kyle and Michelle

You know us. We are always trying to find unique and sometimes odd ways to find adventure. This one was a rough start but turned out okay for us and we were able to make some good money in fairly short amount of time- We miss you guys- Kyle and Michelle

Just wait and see how much diet dew we can get with all of that cashola. Next Sunday we'll be sharing our cross-country adventure. And of course, we hope you tune in- Kyle and Michelle

Too bad you couldn't take your She Shed with y'all! That would have been a site to see! ~ Shion and Matthew
@thewanderingshores8 ай бұрын
You know she wanted to take that. She shed with her for sure. It really worked out well. I can't believe it took us that long to realize what a good resource it was cuz it's set empty for so long when we were there.

Wow, $7200 bucks, nice. 👍 So the million dollar question is, would you do it again? Inquiring minds want to know. Safe travels you two.
@thewanderingshores8 ай бұрын
Thanks, Sean .... So yes, I think we would definitely do it again and probably will in the next year or two head over to Texas and work for maybe 30 to 45 days. Anything beyond that might get a little too demanding. But definitely know what questions to ask about a gate now which will hopefully allow us to better pick the type of traffic and location we would be getting.

Would you do it again?
@thewanderingshores8 ай бұрын
Yes, I think we would, probably no longer than 45 or 60 days at the most. I don't know how some of those folks do it months and months. I definitely would make sure that I ask a lot of questions before accepting an assignment. But we really enjoyed engaging with the staff that were coming in everyday and it was a quick way to make some good money.

Cut short and the eclipse. What are the odds? $7200. Not too shabby.

We agree, We were lucky to find that campsite with how crazy things were in the area, but overall we had a great experience and would definitely do it again.

Is guarding at night fairly safe? Do you ever have problems with anyone?
@thewanderingshores4 ай бұрын
Dana, thanks for reaching out. So we had absolutely no issues in the evening. It's really nice too because they give you a lighting rig so it is lit up like Christmas most of the evening. Now that being said, we were in Midland, Texas which is Northwest and not right on the border which potentially could be a little different. But haven't heard really of much trouble overall from any of the guards that we interacted with.- Kyle

How do we get a list of the gate guard companies? We would like to apply! Thanks
@thewanderingshores8 ай бұрын
That's awesome, David. I would suggest JG securities as well as guardian. I'll put their links in separate posts below.

I'm very interested in how the 12 hour gates worked for you. Did you have to pay for a site for the RV? Was it a company site or just something close to the job. Also looks like you made over $250/day. Thought, from other videos that 12 hour gates pay about $175/day. Thanks
@thewanderingshores2 ай бұрын
I actually think the 12 hour gate might be the way we go again this coming March. I think it worked better just having one of us work. So yes they paid for the campsite $25 a day, the site we chose was just a local campground (Escapees Park) and they charged about $22 a day so that was a wash. Yes most of them are around $175 but I think since I was just filling in for vacation coverage they paid a little more. Hoping to find a similar setup this winter.
@markmills44732 ай бұрын
@thewanderingshores thanks for the info. We were originally looking at 24 hr gate but things have changed and my wife can no longer work long hours. I should be able to do 12's without too much trouble, especially if she isn't working and can take care of meals, shopping etc. Good luck to you this winter
@thewanderingshores2 ай бұрын
@markmills4473 Thanks Mark. Sorry to hear about your wife, but yeah it kind of works out better for us as well. Michelle, pretty much works full-time with her current job, so if we can allow her just to do that and I can pick up the gate guarding and still make good money then we're going to try to do that as well. Best of the luck. Keep us updated. I'd love to hear how things turn out for you guys.

Is Guardian the company that you were with
@thewanderingshores2 ай бұрын
@markmills4473 Mark, yes, I would recommend JG security or guardian. Our initial engagement was with guard one and they're the ones that gave us the runaround
@wondererschasinghorizons8 ай бұрын
So, did you think gate guarding is worth it? Inquiring minds want to know..😆
@thewanderingshores8 ай бұрын
Yes, we think it was worth it, I don't know that we could do it for an overly extended amount of time, but somewhere between 30 and 60 days is manageable. Definitely need to ask the right questions before accepting a job assignment. We went through a lot of those in the top five video from 2 weeks ago. But we had a really nice time and engaging with all of the workers was a lot of fun. Too.- Kyle and Michelle
