From the perspective of the religious far right the women and girls who get pregnant are sinners. Poverty is their just punishment for illicit sex and their lives serve as a visible deterrent to others who might consider sex before marriage. Aid and counciling on how to deal with the aftermath is therefore counterproductive.

If a teen gets pregnant, there should be no “teen mom.” It should be highly encouraged and expected that an abortion would be provided. @@Cuzndr3w Not necessarily, last year Texas made it much harder for people under 18 to obtain contraceptives without the permission of their parents. Not to mention, where's the boy's responsibility to do things like wear condoms? And even in cases when birth control is used, it can fail, and in the case that it does, being low income in a state that bans abortion and that is far from states with larger reproductive care infrastructure makes for a ripe recipe for teen parenthood.
