A mother, Shannon Earnshaw, and a grandmother, Lillie Compton, share their story of losing two loved ones to illegally manufactured fentanyl. Illicit fentanyl is a dangerous, life-threatening drug frequently found in other illicit drugs and results in the death of 200 people per day in the US. This is just one of those stories and delivers an urgent warning to avoid all illicit drugs.

Whew, this one gave me chills. I'm a trucker with Fedex, and i live in Wyandotte County. I used to struggle really badly with insomnia. I've had friends offer me pills. My nerves won't allow me to take pills from them. Watching these videos, it's definitely confirmed that I never will. My condolences to their families.

Yea in the past we’d get pills from friends or someone here and there. A xan. Maybe a perc. And not even anything crazy, or having addiction. Just some dabbling. Or taking something to ease anxiety if the dr wouldn’t help. This was almost 10 years ago. I can’t imagine if this was going on then. A lot of us probably wouldn’t be here. I’m not a parent but it must just be so frightening to worry about this with your children.

Living in active addiction is so exhausting. I did it for almost 11 years. I am so lucky that this was before fentanyl. I probably would not be here if it wasn't.. Your son has to want it so bad for HIMSELF. If he isn't in rehab for himself then unfortunately it won't stick. I hope it all works out. Please remember to listen to him and be there for him in that moment and not show negative judgment. Prayers your way.. Also I am sorry about your step son..

Naloxone is the active ingredient in Narcan and is also available in many generics as a nasal spray. In fact, the brand name Kloxxado delivers a higher dose of naloxone than Narcan (Kloxxado-8mg per dose, Narcan-4mg per dose). Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available in the brand name Narcan or generic versions available for free. It is important to recognize that Naloxone is the drug, Narcan is just a brand name. Whenever someone uses the word "Narcan" in place of "naloxone", they're devaluing all the other equally effective brand options and promoting a specific pharmaceutical company.

The death of so many young people is so sad & horrific. It is also sad for the elderly who are forced to stay in great pain because doctors are too frightened to prescribe the necessary pain medication due to fear of loosing their license. Doctors are supposed to "do no harm " There are old people forced to endure excruciating pain due to these poor young people losing their lives prematurely. The fact that we find a way to house truly evil people and give them all the comforts they need, some for life, but we turn away people looking for help due to lack of funds, is disgusting. There has to be a better way for everyone to be able to get treatment! This country has not done enough to create awareness of this issue and to give help to those in need. Ladies, I am so sorry for your losses. ❤🙏 I applaud you both for empowering yourselves after your losses so that others may be saved.

I have watched numerous of these videos. It seems weird why all these young people are getting single pills for sleeping, anxiety from friends. Why not just ask their parents to get some pills at CVS or Walgreens. It's just so sad and so avoidable and I feel bad for the families that have to go through this.

Maybe they should try something other than a pill first, even properly prescribed.

Awareness needs to get out to our kids. No street drugs are safe. It does not matter if your best friend gave it to you. NOTHING IS SAFE! Please learn from these heartbreaking videos. It can be you or your loved one. This channel is great. Thank you. Peace and Love to this family. God loves you. 🙏🏻❤️🇺🇸

Anyone reaching out for help should receive it, if they can afford it or not. Most of the time it's not easy to ask for help and to be turned away is just disgusting. Fentanyl is the most evil poison. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm praying for your family. Thank you for sharing your story. R.I.P Katie and Shawn 🙏🙏

My heart breaks for Grandma Lilly. I'm a 48 year old man, and I feel your hurt in these videos. Know this. Katie and Shawn are both saving lives with their stories getting out. Frankly, I could have easily found myself in both of their situations in my teens & 20s, but us older folk never had to deal with this. I want you to know that I am praying specifically for you. God Bless YOU and your family.

I’d say that the only solace that I can find in any of these young people dying from fentanyl poisoning is that they just went to sleep like normal and didn’t die a violent/painful death :/ but that’s little comfort in any of these situations.. RIP

We all know growing up that street drugs and any pill someone just hands you might not be safe and potentially laced. Whether it's fentnyl or salts or whatever makes it cheaper, it's a risk. If you choose drugs it's just a matter of when.

I’ve been watching these videos and I’m so glad these brave parents are telling their stories about their children and the poison that’s killing them. I’m in California and it’s a huge problem here too. My 33 year old son struggled with disease of addiction for years. Countless rehabs, sober living, etc. His drug of choice was herion. He got off that but turned to meth instead. Cheaper and easier to get I guess. He never touched fentanyl. On January 2, 2002 he was discovered deceased in a park. The meth he smoked was laced with fentanyl.and just like that my baby was gone forever. The people who lace drugs with fentanyl and the people who sell them are murderes. Period. I know I’m part of a club no one’s wants to belong to. Thousands and thousands of parents who have lost their children to the poison that is fentanyl. The pain is relentless. I drive by that park all the time where he died. A park I took him to when he was a little boy. Never did I dream he would die there. To the parents in the documentary keep doing what you’re doing. Tell your stories and I’ll tell mine and maybe together we can help change this crisis or maybe just save one child.

The common denominator often is aquiring a prescription drug through nonprescription means. Yes I have insomnia too, I get it, not fun, and I don't take pills for it. But if I did they would come from a pharmacy not a friend.

I find that half of a Unisom (an OTC) does the trick for me. Maybe anyone suffering from insomnia should try that first, maybe even a whole Unisom.

Don’t take pills unless a doctor prescribed them to YOU and you picked them up at a pharmacy in a bottle with your name on it. Period. Full stop. My kids are tired of me telling them this but I don’t care. My mother prayed every day that my sister and I wouldn’t get involved in drugs (which we didn’t - I’ve never even smoked weed) and now I pray the same thing for my two children. All of these videos are heartbreaking.

There should be a huge campaign right now warning against taking pills from the streets, there should be PSA on TV and radio, these stories and videos should be seen by everyone in this country. Who is going to take the reigns? Law enforcement? Federal gov't? Some organization or establishment with resources for reaching the masses needs to take on this cause. The public needs to be informed and educated. Broadcast the message during the Super Bowl. It only takes a few minutes but someone needs to take the lead on this.
