There's another, much worse camera that you can use in casual with a glitch. Launch a match with SV cheats enabled, and then type "camortho" in console. Your camera will now have 0 depth until you restart the entire game client.

Fun fact: they were originally gonna add the option to have third person on the advanced settings but was scrapped because it would be a problem for spy mains and players would take advantage of it. I still to this day disappointed they scrapped the third person option.

I think it is useful as long as you are careful, you can get a few clean backstabs + most people would most likely pick 1st person more than 3rd as it could be better! but like I said, 3rd person is better to use when needing to look past corners. I much rather have 3rd person mode added, cause at least in tf2c they allow you to do that
